OmniCC  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.2.5
by: jaliborc, Tuller

Overview
OmniCC is an addon that adds text to items, spell and abilities that are on cooldown to indicate when they will be ready to use. In other words: it turns all the standard analogue cooldowns into digital ones.

Anything should work with OmniCC, from the action bars to the inventory, from the standard interface to your favorite add-on.

Hi Tuller,

I did suspect high memory and / or CPU utilization, so I kept a close eye on them with CPU profiling, but memory never looked out of the ordinary when the lockups happened (of course, since the game locked up completely I couldn't verify memory use right at that moment).

And even though OmniCC showed high CPU utilization (compared to other add-ons) after running dungeons, the lockups always occurred at completely random times. Sometimes during dungeon runs, but most often just while standing around in the middle of nowhere doing nothing. Occasionally it would occur right as I clicked on a link, or when some other kind of event occurred, but that really looks like coincidence to me.

When the lockups occurred it seemed like the game went into an infinite loop. Sound kept playing but it was the same one in a loop. For instance, if the game locked up in the middle of casting a mount spell then I'd just hear that sound to infinity, with music still playing normally in the background.

Do you happen to know what your memory usage looks like at that point in time?

This was happening even before 4.1, wow suddenly stops responding and I need to force it to close via CTR-ALT-DEL and then when I quickly come back to the game it normally causes a wow fatal error for 1-2 times upon login in my char before I'm able to log in again.

I don't know what is wrong with your code but it's a shame not be able to use the addon anymore due to this issue.
Just revert to the version I mentioned in my post below yours and you should be good to go again. Apparently even switching the update engine back to classic wasn't enough for me somehow.

I had exactly the same issue as described by Valana, sure took me a while to figure out what caused it.
Unfortunately I am no closer to an answer as to why it happens though.
Had to revert back to the non-pancakes builds as well.

I've been seeing twocopies of the exact debuffs/buffs. As a healer this gets very annoying.... any help :/

Thank You ahead of time.

How it is related to OmniCC? It does not handle presentation of auras in any way. Only adding countdowns to the already presented frames.

4.2 - Last patch supported by me.

I'm hoping that I've fixed the hanging issue with the 4.2 release. My guess is that something weird happened with me recycling the update scheduling objects, so I've nixed that (in practice, it probably didn't save that much memory anyway).

As I mentioned on my portal, WoW 4.2 is the last patch I'll be providing updates for my addons. It's been a good many years (and I thank you all for that), but its now time for me to move on to other things I think.

My addons are open source (BSD to be specific). If someone wants to fork any of them, please, have at it. My only request is to come up with a new name for the addon if you choose to publish the fork. If you ask me nicely, I'll even provide a bit of help understanding my craziness

Re: 4.2 - Last patch supported by me.

Thank you for your work, Tuller. Your add-ons have greatly improved my play experience pretty much ever since WoW was released. Good luck in the future.

Overlapping timers on buffs/debuffs

Is there a way to disable buff/debuff countdowns (buffs underneath my enemy like iceblock, cloak, bladestorm etc) (debuffs from my party members like dots, fears, CC's)?

I ask because this addon has always conflicted with xperl or vice versa. On buffs and debuffs there are two countdowns and they're both slighty different and makes the number hard to read.

If I disable buff countdown on xperl, it disables it on omnicc. I just want to use omnicc for the cooldown countdown on my action bars, not countdown from buffs/debuffs from friends/enemies.

Thanks for any help, this is one of my favorite addons, but it's always been frustrating to use as I can't live w/o xperl.

I found that it works on bags but not on Button bars.

Also found out the Raven's omniCC like feature works but, RAven's one is kinda crude

Right now, Blizzard's changes only affect action bars. The problem, basically, is that the method that OmniCC uses to determine when a cooldown is fired for everything seems to no longer always be in use for action buttons (buffs, items, etc, are unaffected at this point in time). The code also implies that they'll just be getting rid of lua calls to update an action button's cooldown completely in the future, too.

That means that the method OmniCC uses to be universal won't really work post 4.3. That means plugins would be required for everything OmniCC currently supports :P
