TradeSkillInfo  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2.4.4
by: Ethan Centaurai, wmrojer

TradeskillInfo is an addon that gives you all the information that you need about tradeskills - including the ones that your character cannot craft.

It can add the following information to the tooltip of an item:

  • What tradeskills it is used in, and how many different recipes for that tradeskill it is used in.
  • Show you where the item comes from. Vendor, dropped, disenchanted or crafted.
  • Show who of your chars can use the item.

It can add the following information to the tooltip for recipes and crafted items:
  • If any of your chars knows it already.
  • If any of your chars can learn it now.
  • If any of your chars will be able to learn it later.
  • Where it comes from. Vendor bought, quested, dropped or crafted.

In the tradeskill craft window it will show:
  • At what skill levels the recipe will shift to a different difficulty level. 120/80/60/40 would mean it's learnable at 40, it will be yellow at 60, green at 80 and grey at 120.
  • The cost of the combine (auctioneer or vendor prices), how much the result sells for to a vendor and the profit/loss.

TradeskillInfo also has it's own UI. It is opened with "/tsi menu" or by binding a key to it in the keybindings menu.

QuickSearch an item in the inventory will open the UI and show all recipes that use that item. QuickSearch key-mouse combination is configurable. Defaults to Shift-RightClick.

RightClicking an reagent icon in the TradeskillInfoUI with the AuctionFrame open will do a search for that reagent in the auction house.

Shift-Click on the recipe name in the list (to the left) with the chatbox open will paste the complete recipe there. (To tell your guildies whats needed to make that uber item)

In the UI you can browse all tradeskills in the game.
  • Filter what tradeskills to show
  • Filter what recipes to show
    • Player known
    • Player learnable
    • Player will be able to learn
    • Alt known
    • Alt learnable
    • Alt will be able to learn
    • Unavailable
  • Freetext search on recipe name and reagent names.

For every recipe it will show:
  • If the it is learned from a recipe, it will show the source of the recipe. Dropped, Vendor bought, quested or faction vendor.
  • What skill level is required, and specialization.
  • Who of your chars knows the recipe.
  • Who of your chars can learn the recipe.
  • Who of your chars will be able to learn the recipe.
  • At what skill levels the recipe will shift to a different difficulty level. 40/60/80/120 would mean it's learnable at 40, it will be yellow at 60, green at 80 and grey at 120.
  • The cost of the combine (both auctioneer and vendor prices), how much the result sells for to a vendor and the profit/loss.

Recipe names are color coded.
  • White: Player knows
  • Light Green: Player can learn
  • Yellow: Player will be able to learn
  • Grey: Alt knows
  • Dark Green: Alt can learn
  • Orange: Alt will be able to learn
  • Red: Unavailable to all your chars

For items not in the local cache of the WoW client, the icon is "?". Clicking on that icon will try and lookup the item.

It also has a graphical configuration screen that is opend with /tsi config or by binding a key to it in the Keybindings menu.

Will this AddOn be continued? I very much enjoyed being able to tell which ingredients are used in which recipes and what I need for a certain enchantment without being an enchanter myself.

At the moment I am kinda lost though - are there any other AddOns that could help me with that problem - or better even: will TSI be updated?

AddonLoader & display size on bar

I am trying to switch from FuBar to LDB for the information I would like to monitor on-screen, but there are still a few FuBar plugins I haven't found satisfactory replacements for yet. So I have been using Broker2Fubar so I can view both Fubar & LDB data on one display.

As more authors are adding support for AddonLoader, I decided to try it. It works as advertised, but I have a cosmetic problem with it and several supporting mods, yours included.

Without AddonLoader, the LDB feeds are displayed correctly on Fubar. When delayed by AL, most are still good but some do not adjust the font & icon size to match FuBar's settings. The result is text & icons that are much larger than the rest of the FuBar display. It is usable that way but takes up more space (width) on the bar and is cosmetically unattractive.

I have mentioned this problem on both the AddonLoader and the FuBar forums, but the consensus seems to be that it is the fault of the individual AddOns.

FYI: besides TSI I also see the size discrepancy with:
Revelation
Broker_Trainer
Ara_Broker_Guild_Friends
Ara_Broker_Tradeskills
Broker_Hitcrit

Thank you.

Feature Request

Would it be possible to show the "Scroll" info for enchants?

Mats prices on enchants fluctuate and enchanters sometimes charge a fee to enchant based on the % of the cost of mats.

But enchantments casted on Vellums have an entirely different value. And it may be more profitable for an enchanter to sell scrolls on the AH.

More info on these scrolls would be great!

I discovered this addon earlier this week, and was quite pleased to have a lightweight addon that would tell me whether a recipe I see on alt x is useful for alt y - without adding a bunch of other things that I don't care for, or at least give the option to turn those off. Brilliant! However, there's 2 things that don't work the way I'd expect it to, so I thought I'd ask about it.

- I really like the '(in the future) learnable by' feature for recipes, but not for items. Every time I hover over a Pearl Milk Tea I see who of my alts can learn the recipe, which I don't care for - at that moment I just want to see its on-use effects and drink the stuff. Is it possible to have this feature distinguish between recipes and items, so that you can set it to only show one of the two? If not, can you please make it happen?

- I have the 'combine costs' box in the tradeskill tab of the settings unchecked, yet it still shows in my tradeskill window as well as in the /tsi menu. Aside from the fact that it's a nuisance that should not be showing, the equations make no sense compared to mats required. Example: Runeforging - Rune of Cinderglacier has no mats, yet it lists the following: 33.18 - 4.35.86 = -(4.02.68). ... que?

This might be possible. I'll look into it but I can't promise I can get this to work.

I don't know why the combine costs would still be there unless you're using a different crafting addon? I use TradeSkillDW to make the window double-wide and it works fine here.

The option doesn't remove it from TSI's browser yet but I can cobble that together fairly easily.

As for the Runeforging issue you listed, TSI is probably pulling info from the last tradeskill that was open before opening Runeforging. TSI is supposed to ignore Runeforging but I'll have another look at it. I may have missed something somewhere.

Also TSI's settings are saved per-character by default so any settings you change on one character may not immediately appear on another.

Great addon! I was looking for ingame recipe list and got the very desirable side effect of yellow/green/grey to boot!

I had a request if I may be so bold. When in /tsi menu, I can click on a recipe in the left pane and its mat icons will appear in the right pane. I was wondering if it would be possible to display the icon mats in the left pane, even of recipes you haven't clicked on yet.

Professions have always been one of my fave aspects of the game and as such, wowhead's profession recipe list has always been a valued companion. I like the ability to see the icons of the spells as an overview like this. I found your addon when searching for an ingame alternative.

I hope I am explaining it well enough. What do you think?

Remove character from the addon's memory

I have a nasty habit of transferring, renaming, and deleting characters from my account.

Sadly, TSI keeps these old characters in it's database - on one realm, I had 7 different LW's showing up (I had 1 - who'd been renamed at one point and race-changed at another, and 4 deleted toons).

Would it be possible to add a method to remove individual characters from the addon?

Re: Remove character from the addon's memory

I want to add this to TSI. I just need to stop being lazy and get on with it.

In fairness though I do have a few large changes I want to make to TSI, and I will detail most of them in a future blog post. Deleting character data is on the to-do list and will be added Soon(TM).

Hello,

Hoping this project is still alive and well for WoD as I really cant live without it!

I notice in your last comment you mention some changes planned for the future which is great to hear. If I could make one small suggestion for your consideration, having AH/Vendor prices listed against each tradeskill item on the browsing pane similar to LilSparky'sWorkshop would be a welcome addition.

Thanks!

TradeSkillInfo is alive and well, don't worry.

It's true though, I am working on some pretty messy changes and they're not ready to be uploaded here yet. I've done most of what I wanted to do and hopefully everything will be ready by the weekend.

Spoilers: TSI's saved settings will be reset in the update. I'm sorry, but I need to do this in order for everything to work.

As for the AH/vendor prices, TSI does (should) already have that functionality in its UI Browser module. Click the UI tab in TSI's options window and there should be an option to enable it there.

Good to hear! 'Tis the season for cleaning up and managing Addons anyway, so not to worry!

Just had a quick look but couldn't see anything regarding moving the price information, only toggle on and off. What I was trying to describe before would look something like this : IMAGE. Scrolling through recipes without clicking each one for pricing information, great for finding those hidden gems!

Cheers,

Ahh, that's what you meant! D'oh!

Aye, TSI doesn't have anything like that at the moment sadly; currently the only way is to click on each entry and look below the reagents. I might be able to add something like that in the future but I can't promise anything right now.

Just so everyone's aware, v2.2.18 will be the last stable release before a big database overhaul.

TradeSkillInfo's saved settings WILL BE RESET when you update to v2.3.

I have been planning this for months and with Warlords of Draenor officially launching on November 13th, now is the time to put this plan into action.

I apologise for the inconvenience this will no doubt cause, but there is no other way possible for this to work.

v2.3.1 fixes an error that occurs when searching through your professions returns no results, and also has a few updated recipes.

Enjoy!
