Guild Event Manager v3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.27-1.96
by: kiki [More]

Overview

This AddOn allows you to create/schedule/manage future raid instance directly in-game. Players can register (join) and reserve a room for your instance, or cancel subscription. You can setup a maximum players for your event, as well as the min/max per class or role.

When a player wants to join and there is no room left for his class, he is put in a substitute queue, waiting for someone to cancel his subscription. The leader of an event does not have to be logged in for a player to subscribe.

This addon has been designed to help guilds to schedule events, and its member to say *I'll be there*, and count the number of players that are ok for an instance. It does work for multiple guilds (kind of Alliance of guilds), if you want, or even with your friend list.

All dates are stored in universal time, and displayed in local time, so if someone creates an event in a different timezone than yours, you will see the correct time on your side.

In GEM 2.30, the Alias and Slash Fields could be at least 10 characters in length. Now, they can only be up to 5 characters in length.

In GEM 2.30, private channels were "sticky" i.e. a simple carriage return would make the next chat transmission into that channel if the previous message was into that channel - there was no need to type the channel number, the channel name, or the alias each each time when sending many messages into the GEM custom channel. Private channels are no longer "sticky" in GEM 3.

Both GEM 2.30 and GEM 3 throw error messages when logging into the 3.02 Public Test Realm, and so need updates to work with the coming patch.

If a player has GEM 3 running in the same channel as users with GEM 2.30, the users of GEM 2.30 see all the data transmissions from the GEM 3 player. (I do not know if the reverse is true.)

There are many, many English test errors in GEM 3 which are quite distracting. Is there any way you could post a file with nothing but the various English text strings? I will be happy to edit them for you.

Thank you for your work on GEM. Our guild alliance on Feathermoon is still using GEM 2.30 because GEM 3 does not yet have all the functions we need (length of Slash/Alias and "sticky" chat, especially), but we're looking forward to updating before the WoW 3.02 patch is released.

Well... the core part of GEM needs "timers" handling, and does not use "most" of Ace3, just the comm part.
I didn't know there was a "timer" lib in ace3, I haven't searched for any, since I always used chronos (which is very good for my needs), back to the time of gem and gem2 (3 years ago!), I know the api.

But I can switch to AceTimer, if it is proven that Chronos is not performant, otherwise it's just perfect for what I need to do.

Anyway, that's why I used chronos instead of anything else
