ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

i couldnt duplicate this at all, even stack splitting/trashing, it always refreshed the window properly as well as the tooltip data.

The Guild Bank seems to be a bit buggy too
more like a lot, i'll be rebuilding it more along blizzards lines of a single tab interface, hopefully that will make it easier to use and a lot less buggy

Question:
I heavily modified the item's main group they assigned. Quest items, consumables, reputation items, etc... I havent done a backup for ages and I would like to do it in a smart way. In the past I did have to clean the configuration files after an update that messed up the lua files irreveribly. So taking this to the next level -since the lua could damage any time with a beta update- how could I save only the item assignment list of mine? Any way to import export or just copy paste some data from lua files? In this way I could be sure that even if you do significant change in the code and the earlier config file renders to uselessness I still would be able to add my itemlist back.

Feature Request:
I would like to request some settings to change the action button's size (refresh, bag changer, etc) on the window. Also I would like to separate refresh and Compress since 99% I use those buttons and they are small and in-line with other buttons and that slows down heavy bag usage process (changing adding separating lot of items, etc.).

This addon is irreplaceable. Many many thanks for making it!

Bug Report:

Using Outfitter now... ArkI doesn't seem to recognize when the equipment in an outfit is updated though. I got a new purple item and added it to an outfit. I unequipped the outfit, but the item was placed in my normal equipment section instead of my outfit equipment section. I opened up the rule and hit the OK button and then it was moved to the correct section.

Sounds like a conflict with another addon. Try disabling everything but ArkI and then reeanbling them until the behavior repeats itself so you can find out which one.

Menu Issues

I cannot reach many of the settings in the arkinventory drop down menu simply because it fades soon as i highlight my mouse over it, also they seem to get stuck and not fade away appropriately.

It occurs most around the window settings starting from "scale" downwards.
Anyone got any idea why?

Have you upgraded lately? Lots of addons broke with 2.3. Current version works fine.

ever since WoW v2.3 was released, ArkInventory has displayed my character's bank bags as "offline", even when i open the bank directly via a banker NPC in-game.

this occurs even when i delete all WTF data related to ArkInventory, and "start fresh". in fact, under these circumstances, when opening the bank (i.e. for the first time), ArkInventory displays my bank(s) as "offline" and flagged with "NO DATA".

if anyone has any thoughts on why this might happen, what other inventory mods might be in conflict (Possessions, rpgo-CharacterProfiler, or whatever), please let me know.

in the meantime, i am going to give Baggins a try. perhaps it will be less environmentally sensitive, less cryptic, or whatever.

edit:

i update everything from ACE daily through the AceUpdater application... every version of ArkInventory has malfunctioned consistently in this way since WoW 2.3 was released, even when reinstalled "from scratch".

i am assuming a conflict with another mod, but the prospect of having to systematically go through every other mod i run to find out which, and then do without that other mod, doesn't really work for me.

so far, Baggins is working great (no conflicts, no cryptic weirdness), and seems (to me) to be easier to use, so i think i will just go with that.

All my chars have different names for their sets (more or less) -- any chance ArkI could be configured so that outfit() would match any outfit? It'd be alot easier than listing a dozen different things and then having to change it anytime I change my set names or add/remove sets.

I think I found a bug--ArkI doesn't seem to recognize when the player trashes an item. I had 2 elixirs of minor agility and tossed them.. later on, I was in town looking at a recipe that could use them and the tooltip said I still had 2 in my bag. To test it, I took a minor potion out of a stack of 5 and trashed the single--the tooltip still said I had 5.

The Guild Bank seems to be a bit buggy too. I have one tab with every slot full and it usually doesn't get sorted--everything is just clumped in to one big section. When I start withdrawing and depositing items, it'll sometimes sort itself properly.. but then it goes back to a single big section after making another transaction.

Thanks for the update. Looks to be working fine now. BTW - just wanted to let you know that out of all the mods that I use... I can play fine without them all, BUT I gotta have ArkInventory no matter what.

ill download 2.1 and see whats changed and update the ai code to match - i dont keep an eye on updated versions of those mods except for outfitter (which i use)

someone will eventually come along and tell me it's broken (like now) in some mod and then i'll look at it.

Ok, I got 2.1 from http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fo.php?id=6818 -- no errors now, but the rule doesn't seem to catch the items still... I tried outfit(), outfit(Norm, Spirit, Heal) and outfit(Norm) or outfit(Spirit) or outfit(Heal) -- and I tried reloading the UI to see if that'd update it -- nothing works. Do I need to downgrade to the 2.0 beta? This is getting to be more trouble than its worth... especially since my ItemRackFu Fubar plugin doesn't work with 2.0

I want to second Ichabod's suggestion and add my own of possibly adding the search function on the bag next to the other icons, instead of having to go into the menus, otherwise, best bag addon on imo, and i'm an addon junkie .
