Coins2Txt

Version: 1.0
by: VagrantEsha [More]

Coins2Txt, readable at a glance!

Are you visually impaired, and do you find Blizzard's money style a bit hard to read? If you'd prefer the in-game text to look like the screenshot to the right then this mod's for you. Don't worry about things like configuration, localising, and so on... this mod is designed so that the desired effect can be achieved immediately whilst absorbing as little in the way of cycles/memory as possible.

-=- Styles -=-

Coins2Txt can toggle between two visual styles via the /coins command.

Numeric: ?? ?? ??
Alphanumeric: ??g ??s ??c

The colours are just approximated for the sake of example, the real colours are displayed in the screenshot to the right.

-=- Notes -=-

If you find an instance where the money isn't showing as it should, post a comment and supply a screenshot. It'll likely be because of a mod using its own custom money frame, and if that's the case I'll try and add support.

The size of the text in the screenshot is thanks to a mod called ClearFont2, which I heartily recommend to anyone who has trouble with the small text size in-game.

1.0: I feel this mod has reached a milestone, in that it's achieved a level of stability to the point where (despite my efforts to break it) I haven't seen any bugs in quite some time. This milestone also implies that I'm unable to think of any relevant features to add at this time without bloating out this mod, and there's nothing left to do that wouldn't be superfluous. Thus, this mod will likely be left untouched until a new feature is desired, or until a new Warcraft patch breaks it (if that happens). As of now, this mod should be considered stable.

revision070608: Thanks to tordenflesk for letting me know of the bug where the current state of the coins wasn't being saved between sessions. The reason for this is because apparently Blizzard chose not to preserve an environment variable if it's set to nil, so apparently these variables aren't 'reserved' as if they were handled by local. That's... very strange. Long story short, coins should hold their style over more than one session now.

revision060608c: I removed a table I realised wasn't needed, I did this just for the sake of having one less table in the mod, which is always nice. Nothing else, though...

revision060608b: Introduced a slash-command and assimilated the old style back into the main mod.

revision060608: I found a bug which causes the money frame to ignore text size, so the text spacing might have been incorrect on small-font instances of the money frame. i took the opportunity whilst doing this to clean up the code and remove some redundancies. The problem is that this leaves the old version to be quite outdated, so it's been pulled for now.

revision050608: New text format introduced.

Sorry about that, actually took me a moment or two to track down the reason bheind it, too. SavedVariables are odd. Suffice it to say though, it should now preserve style between sessions.

I'll look into that.

- Oh, and if it's not to much trouble. Would you be able to add an option to switch between 56G 78S 90C and 56 78 90

Done.
It resets between sessions it seems, so every time i log on to a char i have to do /coins again.

Not really. The only lag i experience is when the scans finish, but that's not really a biggie.

I had a thought though: Are you asking for the ability to remove the coins from the text entry? That wouldn't be something for the realm of Coins2Txt because it's not a money frame, but I could easily throw together a mod to hide those coins if you'd like. [/b]

- Never used the AH without Auctioneer

Regardless, I still don't see where the money's not being converted. The only money frame I see on the AH is at the bottom left in the oblong box, and that one's been converted to the new format already.

I don't see anywhere in the Auction House where the old format of text and icons hasn't been converted. Are you using a mod which heavily modifies the AH? If that's the case, then all you could do is ask the author of that mod to include the option to change the fontstring. Hijacking the output of other mods probably wouldn't make me too popular, either... so I'm not fond of that idea.

It could be though that I'm simply being dense and missing something. If you're sure that it's not another mod overriding the default coin mechanics, coiuld you provide a screenshot showing where the format hasn't been converted?

If it's something that should be in Coins2Txt's area and jurisdiction, then you can count on me sorting it out.

That honour icon issue should be fixed, now (I hope!).

Try the latest version and let me know how it works out.

Oh boy...

I'll have to figure out how to deal with that when I can get to BC content...

Unfortunately, as of now, I have no way of doing that. There's likely some check I can do, to make sure it is a coin, but I can't do any debugging until at least one of my characters is there. I have one at 51~, so it won't be that long... but it's a bit off. Until then, I'm not sure what I can suggest. It's a real bugger, though. I have no idea why dinking with the money buttons would affect honour buttons, but it definitely looks like C2T is doing it. Damn.
