MobMitigation

Version: 51954
by: Nymbia [More]

MobMitigation is an Ace2 mod that calculates and displays enemy resistances and armor.

MobMitigation analyzes the amount of damage that lands from certain spells and abilities, and turns that information into either a percentage or an estimate of a resistance or armor value. This is a handy guess, but it is just that; a guess. It will not attempt to scan your gear, your buffs, or your enemy buffs in order to attempt to extract an exact value. It does not account for your spell hit or your level compared to the enemy. It is very much a rough estimate. This is intentional, and not just because I'm lazy -- buff, debuff, and gear scanning can have a major impact on performance. That said, MobMitigation will often come up with a pretty accurate value.

Options

* /mobmitigation savedata - Toggles saving data between sessions.
* /mobmitigation layout - Toggles between horizontal and vertical layout.
* /mobmitigation lock - Locks and Unlocks the data display frame.
* /mobmitigation percentage - Toggles display of mitigation as a percentage or as an estimated armor/resistance value.
* /mobmitigation tooltip - Toggles display of tooltips (and consequently, the right-click options menu).

Only used it for one day but works great so far. (only seen the armor calc so cant speak for spell resistance) Some thoughts I have:

1. A shorter / command please? /mobmitigation is too long for me. (hadnt even bothered checking how "mitigation" was spelled before installing this )
/mobmit

2. Ability to change font size and remove that little icon behind it. In my opinion, the icon should only be seen when when you want to move the mod, not always, which is a bit annoying on friendlies, since you cant even attack them and makes the text slightly more difficult to read.

3. I would love this mod even more if I could choose to show the mitigation % in the mob mouse-over tooltip, and hide the regular part.
Hrm.. interesting ideas, i'll see about implementing them

4. Database issue. Any chance the mod might get too "heavy" after collecting information on a massive amount of mobs? (similar to MobInfo, which I heard can get rather big)

Anyway, nice work!
well, in relation to MobInfo the database is much smaller, but after a while the data can indeed get on the large side, which is why I have data saving default to off.

or possibly options to turn on mob/character scanning? if you are looking for the small memory usage i'd think my first option would be relatively easy to accomplish and easy on memory.
The problem is that the database format currently wouldn't be compatible with that, and I'd like to keep the format the same for people who would rather not have the scanning. And having used this mod on a frost mage a good amount, I'd say it's not crucial, as the values it comes up with for binary spells are pretty accurate. However, I can see why you'd want to have the factoring done, (I can just have it wipe the database and have a different format when you can enable the option) and it's on the to-do list, but I won't be working on it until the 'spell penetration' display in the character sheet is fixed.
