ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

For example typing /ai bank would bring up the Ark Bank.
use the keybindings, i have the bag on Shift+F12, keyring on Shift+F11, bank on Shift+F10 and vault on Shift+F9

that way even if you disable ai for a specific location you can still open it easily.

Th reason I was really hoping you could implement a slash command to open bank and other things was so that I could bind it to a macro. This way I could click a button without having to press keys on the keyboard. If you could do this somehow you'd have my eternal gratitude.

Question:
On my guildbank window I got INSANE amount of bars. They seems to go below screen and/or covered on bottom of the page with buttons and fubar. The setup is inherited from bank/bag windows and those windows look fine, and not that big, but the guildbank window seems hugh. So I cant really set the scale since it will make the bank/bag windows way too small.

Any chance to set the g.bank window differently, or shall I say set it up separately somehow? I know its not a straight question but any ideas are welcome just the point is that It shouldn't affect my bags/bank window.

It's still bugging me badly that I can't put the bank button out from that silly arrow menu! The reason is that I'm playing with heaps of chars on one side on one server and I do a lot of bank checking on all my chars every time. I already noticed that your goal is to get rid of buttons and its fine, but some folks like myself surely favor this one more button on the bagwindow instead of hidden in the menu. Could you PLEASE give at least some kind of option to put it on the main bag window?

I am having a problem going into the menu to change the scale and other options. Whenever I try and select scale and change it and the box appears with the percentage and you can raise or lower the lvl the box disapears and I cannot change the settings. So far I'm liking this addon but I cant seem to get around that problem.

Thanks for the quick reply, I tinkered with it and got it to work Of course somehow even though the addon is running when I open my bag I dont see the arkinventory stuff so somehow I must have done something to it

No I just ment that I would love to put the bank "icon" on the top of the bag bar, easy to click if I want to open bank... as a matter of fact guild bank too. I do have to manage those a lot and I got heaps of unnecessary click by opening the arrow menu then open bank or guildbank.

One more question. since ages I use one big data where I set some special rules with heaps of items and also I reorganised a lot of items in general. For instance I always change the type of quest item to "quest item" where as they sometimes "soulbond" or "consumable". So I guess this special information that I set in the last ... 1year almost (omg long time)... I would like to back it up! Any chance to backup the item type settings and rules for items in a separate file and then import it if we got issues or have to reset the lue files for some reason? I'm just afraid that with WotLK we could have trouble with addons like in the past we had many many times. And gives me the shivers when I think about setting up this hundreds of items again from scratch. But maybe its already implemented I'm just a noob and didnt see such options.

copy the arkinventory savedvariable file somewhere else, best bet is to just make a backup of the WTF folder as it contains the config for everything.

Yes, but that will copy all the settings not just the item type settings. And I guess you dont remember, I/we had data corruption issues in the past when you were still in deep development face. No matter how much I tried to backup, the new version always dropped an error and reset the data...

BUT... just for a laugh... Murphy is always watchfull... yesterday I stuck in BG. I closed the game from task manager... And I lost all my bag configuration. Believe it or not, happened on the day I was trying to figure out how to backup specific data (I'm aware about lua backup... but I didnt thought it would happen such crazy issue... silly me ). Now I have to setup everything. To set up the bags and configure the windows are not frustrating, its just a couple of minutes. But every F*cking item entering in my bags and have to identify and re-structure from sratch... It's really frustrating... Doesn't matter I do the monkey way, backup wtf... Thanks anyways for reading and answering arkayenro!

Is it possible to use bag IDs as a filter type for bars? I can't seem to find anything about it. If not, any chance it'll ever be implemented?

Wonderful! Could you by chance let me know also what the command would be to switch to a specific character? I often while shopping want to do a fast compare between the AH and what one character is wearing , so a 'toggle wearing' 'switch to Elenarra" macro would be very helpful.

Separately, I currently maintain three window frames with rules for the 'heal set' 'tank set' and 'dps set' with the items laboriously added to the rule, and subtracted when I remember, for each character. I use the same set names in item rack and would be thrilled if there was some way to designate an item rack set name or names as the source for a bar . I've seen it can be done for closet gnome but I really didn't want to switch.

Is there any such option out there?

Finally, I have run into an issue when restacking where the process starts, then freezes as I am told "that item can not fit into a mining bag". I just as I am typing realized I can turn on a debug option and will try that, but if that doesnt work will be back to see if there is any other way to identify the item. The restackign process freezes in place, stuck on whichever item it is.

this is gonna be a little bit harder.

/run ArkInventory.Frame_Main_Show( LocationID, PlayerID )

LocationID you already know, PlayerID (currently) is a string formatted as Server!Faction!Character

guild bank "character" names are formatted as +GuildName

the outfit() function should work with outfitter, itemrack and closetgnome - depending on which one you have loaded (if you have more than one loaded it might get confused, i didnt test that)

thats really really odd, i deliberately rewrote the restack code to use blizzards new api so id would work no matter what - it's telling my code that it can go in the bag but then it's not allowing it.

any idea what the item is so i can figure out if it's a blizzard problem or if i've stuffed something up in the code.
