Shadowed Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v4.4.8
by: Shadowed, Nevcairiel

SUF focuses on a simple configuration while maintaining the flexibility that most users will care about, preventing unnecessary bloating of the addon that sacrifices performance. While you aren't going to be able to set the health bar to be exactly 3.14 pixels outside of the unit frames, you can change options you actually care about such as bar height, ordering, frame height and so on. To speed up configuration, you can configure multiple units at the same time through the global configuration. For example, if you want to set the height of the Player, Target, Focus and Party frames to 50 then the height of Target's Target, Target's Target of Target, Focus Target to 30 you can easily do this by changing two options instead of having to do it seven times.

However, should you need a little bit of extra configuration do not despair! An advanced option is included that will unlock additional configuration giving finer control over the configuration.

Slash commands: /shadoweduf (/suf)

Anchoring
Are you driven crazy by your party frames not aligning up exactly with your player frames, even if it's only half a pixel off? The anchoring system will let you solve all alignment issues, by allowing you to anchor a frame to another and set a simple offset from the frame it is anchored to, or by manually setting the X/Y position of the frame.

Using the screen shot as an example, if you drag the player frame the other frames will move with the player frame preserving the alignment and spacing. Each frame can still be manually positioned wherever you want, but this gives you a way of easily anchoring and moving frames around without having to use a ruler.

Zone configuration (Disabling options/units by zone type)
Units and modules can be enabled or disabled based on the type of zone you are in. For example, if you want to see party targets and party pets while you are in an arena but nowhere else then you can use the visibility options to enable it only while inside an arena. Modules can also be disabled by zone type, if you want to see party auras while in a raid instance but nowhere else you can disable the module in raid instances only.

Profiles do not have to be swapped and it is all automatic.

Units
Supports unit frames are as follows:

Player: Player, Pet, Pet Target
General: Target, Target of Target, Target of Target of Target, Focus, Focus Target
Party: Party, Party Pets, Party Targets, Party ToT
Raid: Raid, Raid Pet, Main Tank, Main Tank Target, Main Assist, Main Assist Target, Boss, Boss Target, Boss ToT, Main Assist ToT, Main Tank ToT
Arena: Arena, Arena Target, Arena Pets, Arena ToT
Battleground: Battleground, Battleground Target, Battleground Target

Features

  • Tags: Includes a simple tagging system that can be customized in virtually any way using Lua, even if something isn't included by default odds are you can make the tags
  • Incoming Heals: Supports the Blizzard Events for incoming heal data, no external libraries needed
  • Auras: Can be set to only show auras you casted, or can cast on others. Can enlarge auras that you casted, and hide the cooldown ring on the timers of auras you didn't cast as well to make it more obvious which ones you casted and which ones you didn't
  • Aura Timers: You will need a mod such as OmniCC to show timers on buffs and debuffs
  • Aura Indicators: Display colored squares or icons for certain auras on any unit
  • Fader: Fades frames when out of combat and inactive (100% mana/no target)
  • Class Power (Eclipse, Holy Power, etc): Supports all of the class power features from Eclipse to Burning Embers.
  • Highlighting: Border highlighting of frames based on mousing over them, curable debuffs, aggro or you are targeting/focusing them
  • Range Checking: Fades frames out that are out of range of you
  • Exportable Layouts: If you have a layout, or your friend has a layout you want to try out you can export/import SUF layouts by going to /suf -> Layout Manager
  • Profiles: You can change from any profile to another one without reloading your UI, should you want to use a completely different layout based on zone you can easily switch profiles without hassle

Pretty much all the general unit frame settings are in, health bars, cast bars, power bars, portraits, indicators and so on.

Modules
Basic module support is included, should you be interested in building a module see the documentation on github for more information.

Not planning on allowing the raid frames to grow differently.
I get that the default ones are greyed out, but I was talking about the ones I add myself on Empty bar, which comes with default “Text” and is aligned left, but if I add another Text name “Name” with Text parent “Empty bar” that one is also greyed out, meaning I can’t delete the ones I add myself, since those are greyed out also.

Other thing I noticed when activating Combo Points as a Bar is that it keeps adjusting the frame depending on if you have combo points or not, so if you don’t have combo points the frame is like you had set it up, but when Combo Points start to stack, the rest of the bars get squeezed to make room for the Combo Points bar in the total height you had, so it would probably be a good idea to make that bar work similar to the Cast Bar, where the space wanted is set aside even if it is empty, thus preventing the frame from flickering up and down with the bars every time you use and add combo points.

On thing I am unsure about is the update interval of the Health bar, even with Enable quick health being checked, since I often see myself dying from thinking I have more hp left than I apparently have when it comes to doing PvP, where I can look at my health bar and see 10k health left, then suddenly finding myself dead on the ground from a 3k hit, since the previous damage hadn’t been subtracted yet or whatever it is that happens. You can easily get 3-4 entries of damage from the same attacker in the combatlog in 0.005s, so what is the update interval set to?

Vehicle indicator is not available in any Unit configuration it seems, not that it is overly useful, but nice to have in some raids or BG’s to see who is actually driving in things. (Looks like a screw/bolt in the Blizzard UI)

Nice job on the UI config btw, easy to find and adjust things

Sparkly: I'll look into it and see what it is Blizzard added to enable that.

You can already set the combo points bar to not auto hide, it might be an advanced option. There is no update interval, it updates as soon as Blizzard reports a change, if Blizzard doesn't report a change, it won't update. I'm guessing you expect it to be using QuickHealth/InstantHealth, which it does not (and will not).

Been setting up ui's for all my toons with this and it's been great until I got to my DKs. Every time they use runic power this error comes up ...

Code:
Message: Interface\FrameXML\PlayerFrame.lua:618: attempt to index global 'PlayerFrameRunicPowerBar' (a nil value)

Am I the only one this is coming up for?

Hey Shadowed, this may have been posted before. I tried to search for it and the only thing I found was unresolved on another forum.

Basically I've just started using SUF, it's great. But when i accidently changed the text size of the target /name from 10 down to 6 it went down to +5 and now refuses to go back up to 10. I tried manually entering it in then hitting enter but it just reverts back to +5. Have you heard of this before or is there any known addons which somehow cause problems with this?.

Cheers in advance.

A second window should show up where you can click "Unlink Frames" and you'll be able to move one frame at a time...party and raid being the exception but you'll be able to move those groups of frames separate from the player/target etc..

Is there any way at all to disable OmniCC's integration into showing the timers on buffs/debuffs in SUF frames? I only use it for my Dominos bar mod.

For now I set it to only show timers on my own buffs/debuffs to minimise this, but still...

Azza9: No, you cannot right now.

marktbde: It's due to an Ace3 change, not much I can do about it.

Gilor: My guess is, you have another addon conflicting. The default rune bar shouldn't be shown if you are using SUF player frames too.

Almost perfect

This addon is just about perfect. Except how do I know what class I have selected, or what class my party members are? By the color of their health bars? What if I choose to make everyone's health bar the same color to avoid confusion? Is there an option to show Class Icons? If there was that would be beast!

Code:
Indicators -> Class Icon
Anchor Point, Size, X Offset, Y Offset

There isn't a class icon, you can use a class colored tag or you can use the class name in a tag thought.

Shadowed, I hope you know how much all of us users of SUF love it and you for the hard work you put into it. After living and breathing X-Perl almost since the day I started playing WoW, I finally discovered this, and it blew me away. It's clear how much thought you put into designing it to be as powerful and configurable as others, but without requiring so much time tweaking each individual setting one at a time like some. You're wonderful!

So, I'm just curious; what with all the Cataclysm class previews coming out, are you planning on keeping this up and running through the transition into the next xpac? It doesn't sound like too much will need to change with UI stuff, but some of the new features they're talking about make me think that there will at least be some changes, and not something any of us amateur programmers can fanfix in. So what're your plans?

Unless something changes, I'll be playing into Cataclysm, so SUF will be updated for it. Obviously, I can't say I'll be playing for the next 5 years, but I do plan on playing into Cataclysm.

Adjustable height?

I can't seem to find any option to increase the health bar's height, or the cast bar's for that matter..

I'd like to move the cast bar to the top, but I can't find that option either.

Think you already tired of me and my weird bugs Invert works perfect with latest alpha, but I got issues with normal bars. It looks like that on screen shots. And sometimes whole bar filled with background like inverted.

Tried to find what caused that, but still have no clue. Thought it somehow related with incoming heals, but still get this even with incoming heals disabled.
