NPCScan helps you find NPCs by scanning nameplates, minimap vignettes, and mouseover targets, with an optional dynamic targeting keybinding. Once an NPC is found by one of these methods, an on screen alert is displayed and an audio alert is played.
Nameplates
Alerts will be triggered whenever a nameplate is created, if that nameplate belongs to one of the tracked NPCs. To use this feature with any reliability, the Interface->Names->Always Show Nameplates option must be turned on from the WoW Game Menu.
Dynamic Target Keybinding
NPCScan includes a key binding that will trigger a dynamically-generated targeting macro. Each time it is pressed, the key binding will trigger a /targetexact <mob name=""> for every tracked NPC in the current zone you are in, in addition to any custom NPC additions. This only attempts a search each time it is triggered; it is not a continuous search.
To access this feature, just set a keybind under the Key Bindings->AddOns->NPCScan->Targeting Macro section.
“Found” Alert
When an NPC is found, NPCScan alerts you by playing a loud and distinctive sound, making your screen pulse red, and displaying a Targeting Button for every NPC that is found.
Targeting Buttons
When clicked, the targeting button tries to target the NPC it depicts. You can also bind a key to trigger the newest button, in cases where multiple buttons are spawned.
Note: These buttons cannot be shown during combat. In the unlikely case that you do find a rare while fighting, the button or buttons will appear after you leave combat.
Options
NPCScan's main options window can be accessed from the Interface Options menu. To access the NPC list and other settings, type “/npcscan”.
New sounds can be added to the alert sound dropdown menu by installing SharedMedia.

Hey! I love this mod, but the strangest thing happened to me today.
By default, when I downloaded this, the tamable mobs was on by default, instead of off as it is said to be. I got this with the intention of hunting rare spirit beasts, being a hunter. I cleared my cache as it triggered Gondria and Skoll and I wanted to be able to see them when they come up in the wilds. When I logged back on, I also checked to make sure that mobs continued to show up even after I see them so in case I see another hunter, I'll still be able to get the pop up. Background aside, I was leveling this morning. Hit 76, found King Krush. It worked perfectly and I got a nice achievement. Hit 77, went to look for Gondria, but it didn't flash up when I passed over her. No damage done, I tamed her quickly, but when I checked /npcscan, she was crossed out, but she hadn't been before I saw her. Bug? |

Ah, many thanks for clarifying that. The only other addon that I know of that uses screen flashes would be Omen, maybe that breaks it, not always though...
Cheers! Thanks for the updated version!

When this mod gives "NPC found!" alert it count this NPC as killed and put 'em into "ignore list" - there is red cross into "cashed" column and NPC's name color become dark. How i can change this when even "search for completed achiv NPC" didnt help? Or maybe it's http://www.wowinterface.com/download...n.Overlay.html problem?..
P.S. just tell me what i need to delete in .lua to prevent this mod from cheking achiv's...
