Reputation Bars  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v8.0.0
by: PontusM, mjumnito

DESCRIPTION

Track your reputation with some glorious bars!

Reputation Bars is a modular addon that lets you watch one or more faction standings, i.e. the amount of reputation you have with them. It can be used to track specific factions or automatically track the ones you gain rep with. It is especially useful for those with custom UIs that no longer have the default Blizzard rep bar available.

You can use this while leveling to see your reputation bar or simply as a way to show you how much you have left for various factions as you grind your way to exalted...

FEATURES
* WatchBar module replaces the default Blizzard reputation watch bar.
* WatchBar tracks the currently active faction (similar to Blizzards built in bar).
* WatchBar can automatically switch the active faction to the one you gain reputation with.
* AutoBars module that automatically tracks recently gained reputation.
* StaticBars module to track specific factions that you specify.
* Automatically fadeout bars when no reputation has been gained for a while to avoid cluttering your UI.
* All bars can be customized in order to fit most UI configurations (supports SharedMedia for a larger variety of fonts and bar textures).
* Simply disable any modules you don't need through the configuration UI.

I recommend that you also install the SharedMedia addon for a larger variety of fonts and bar textures.

CONFIGURATION

Configuration is done using the Blizzard addon configuration interface. You can right click on the title bar to open it, or use the slash command /rptb.

Looks like I'm running version 1.2.3, released 3 November 2013.

I'm not entirely sure when it started, but I just noticed it very recently (within the past week), so it's possible that it started with this version.

Interesting, I'm running the release from Nov 3rd, but the Curse Client simply calls it 'Reputation Bars' and doesn't note a version number. Try going back to 1.22 and see if the problem persists. I'll do more testing and see if I can track down anything funny.

That's how it was looking in my Curse Client, too. The only way I was able to tell the current version was by checking the changelog for my installed version.

I deleted the old ReputationBars folder from my Addons directory, downloaded 1.2.2, and installed it.

All of the Static Bars factions are back for all of the characters.

So the line that fixes the Guild issue breaks the complete guild list. Stay with 1.22 for now and I'll see if I can track down an alternate solution.

I tested this on my guilded Warrior, Gardinia on Shandris. Here's the results:

Counting manually from my character menu, she has 35 factions with reputations.
Using the old code, she has 35 factions with reputations.
With my code, she has 35 factions with reputations.

So, going back to my priest Jessyck who is unguilded..

Counting manually from my chracter menu, she has 64 factions with reputations.
Using the old code, she has 0 factions with reputations.
With my code, she has 64 factions with reputations.

I modified the old code from

if not name or name == lastName and then break end
to
if not name or name == lastName and name ~= "Guild" then break end

and using the modified old code, she has 64 factions with reputations.

I hate to say it, but I'm finding nothing wrong with my code. The numbers are identical if you're using 1.22 or 1.23 and guilded.

The only thing I have to offer is to change the code to reflect the modified old code above.

The reason why 1.22 is broken for people who are not in a guild is because the code includes every single line in the faction list INCLUDING THE HEADER. So, you'll see the first line says "Guild" and if you're NOT in a guild, the second line will also say "Guild" instead of the name of the guild you are in, and that's where the code value name will equal the code value lastName and break the loop, leaving the unguilded toon 0 factions.

What I did with my change was to ignore that line and look for the last faction name which Blizzard calls "Inactive". That way, regardless of weather you're guilded or not, the list populates.

With the modified code, I've said to ignore the duplication if the values of both name and lastname are "Guild".

Either way you code it, both changes produce the correct list population. I'm unable to reproduce your results. Unless mjumnito has any ideas, I'm not sure what else I can do.

On 1.2.2, I've now noticed Nat Pagle appearing and disappearing from my Static Bars. (He's actually one I have enabled, so it's a lot easier for me to see when his is working and isn't.)

I think this reinforces your assessment that the code for both 1.2.2 and 1.2.3 are functionally identical (for guilded characters).

I recall that the problem I saw with 1.2.3 did not go away when I disabled all of my other addons, so I'm guessing that disabling them will not prevent Nat from going on vacation in 1.2.2. What suggestions do you have that I could use to try to determine the culprit? The ever popular "delete the WTF folder"? Maybe something else as well?

I can't say for sure, but there is a bit of a caveat when it comes to Nat Pagle. It's not a true reputation, it's a friendship or some such thing. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. I have no toon with fishing higher than perhaps 100 so I can't really test it.

I'll see what I can do to make it happen, although, it should autohide providing your mouse is not over the static bars.

Do you want it to not show up even on mouse over while in pet battles?

I just did it myself.

EDIT:
This is what my UI looks like, just so you understand what's going on:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94nOPQ0km6g

I have the Static Bars always showing as part of my regular UI. So when I enter a Pet Battle, the bars are right over the Pet Battle UI and button 1. But now they hide when I enter a Pet Battle and show when the Pet Battle ends.

Code:
function mod:ApplySettings()

        ...

	StaticBarsGroup:ReverseGrowth(db.growUp)
	StaticBarsGroup:SetAlpha(db.barAlpha)
	StaticBarsGroup:SetScale(db.barScale)
	StaticBarsGroup:SetLength(db.barLength)
	StaticBarsGroup:SetThickness(db.barThickness)
 -- added by Turtle
	mod:RegisterEvent("PET_BATTLE_OPENING_START")
	mod:RegisterEvent("PET_BATTLE_CLOSE")
end

...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-- Events
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

function mod:UPDATE_FACTION()
	self:UpdateBar(false)
end

-- Added by Turtle
function mod:PET_BATTLE_OPENING_START()
	StaticBarsGroup:Hide()
end

function mod:PET_BATTLE_CLOSE()
	StaticBarsGroup:Show()
end

First of all: GREAT ADDON! I really love this. Especially with all the bar options.

I have two basic features though, that I 'd really like to see implemented into this awesome addon. If someone knows some LUA and can whip it together really quick I'd be eternally grateful for that.

  1. Show/ hide command line option for StaicBars
    Something like "/rptb StaticBars hide" and "/rptb StaticBars show" or better even "/rptb StaticBars toggle" to switch between hidden and shown.
  2. Sort function by total reputation for StaticBars
    At the moment the StaticBars are ordered from A-Z but I'd really like to see them ordered by total reputation. Exalted before revered etc and 500 revered before 400 revered. I hope its clear what I mean o.O.

Anyone able to write something like this real quick? ^^"
