Gnomish Yellow Pages  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: r48beta
by: lilsparky [More]

The Gnomish Yellow Pages will monitor all chat traffic to identify people advertising trade skills. As trade skill ads are identified, they are recorded and stored for later retrieval.

type:
/gyp

to bring up a window with all information in an easy to read table.

strangers names appear in white
guildmates are displayed in green
friends are displayed in yellow

anybody in your local zone is shown in cyan

all offline players are red

the row of trade skill buttons will access the entire database of trade recipes so you can search for whatever recipe you wish. click to open whatever trade skill browser you use.

when browsing a trade skill, selecting a recipe will cause gyp to update the trade link color to light blue if that recipe is contained in that link. also any searches in the trade skill browser will be reflected in the gyp link color -- links that contain none of the recipes returned by the search will be dark yellow; normal yellow links indicate that at least one of the recipes in the browser window matches the trade link.

I have the same error popping up as Bornabe.
Also GYP doesn't collect / record any data.

Furthermore the /who command seem to not work when GYP is enabled. I even tried to disable the /who update system in the options and still the /who command is unuseable and even the Who List doesn't work which is pretty bad :\

I hope you fix it in next version

When I did that, it seemed like I broke the addon, typing /gyp did nothing after that. :-( Thanks for the quick reply.

-Edit: And now it's working again, lol. Thanks for the tip!
-Edit Again: I had to turn it off, r60 Alpha release is throwing the following error a bunch of times (Caught by BugGrabber / BugSack) and so I disabled it for now. I'll try the b58 release now.

Any update for this?

I too am having the /who error and do not know coding to the point of being able to implement my own workaround. I do not use WIM but another addon is using the referenced cause of the problem.

Any updates in progress by chance?

Check out a mod called Karma

It seems that i found a way to reproduce the /who error.. actually I first thought the addon WIM to be the culprit.

However the problem with /who does arise when you install the new "untainted" libwho that WIM comes along with.
The problem doesn't exist with WIM alone or with GYP alone. But both together seem to launch this hidden feature.
I was able to work around the problem with disabling the locations in GYP, though a more durable solution would be dearly appreciated.

yeah, i guess libwho is hijacking the friend's frame which is what gyp hijacks as well. maybe i should just switch to libwho instead of my home brew system.

i'd be curious to know learn under what circumstances it's firing /who's that you see. but you can turn them off in the addon/options panel. or even just change their frequency (5-30 seconds).

I believe what has happened is when i have been in a cross server group it's been storing any links done including the full server and name of the person linking it (or tried to anyway, ending in an incomplete name with illegal characters). I have remedied the problem by wiping the addon settings.

Is there any chance in a future release to screen out links coming from someone on another server?

Thanks
i'll look into the cross server issue. it would actually be pretty easy to put those links into the correct server table (since gyp saves for different toon/realms/factions into the same file).

interesting. when gyp gets a link it opens it behind the scenes and then closes it just to verify that it's a legit link before recording it into the database. that's probably what's doing it. i'll see what i can figure out.

I got the same issue with Bagnon but I don't know if its gyp since my bags close sometimes and sometimes not. They even close when nothing is linked and I'm in the wild and on the post box.
It COULD be that the bags are closed because gyp opens and closes the tradelink and bagnon interacts with that upon closing the trade window.
