Version: 5.7.138
by: Mikord, Resike

Announcements:

  • Version 5.7.134 is updated to work with Warlord of Draenor Patch 6.0.2 and fixes the font preview issues.
  • If you are having issues with the fonts "resetting" on initial game load, update to Version 5.7.137.
  • Version 5.7.138 corrects issues with several triggers like Kill Shot and Hammer of Wrath.

Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.

Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.
  • Set "Master Font" settings that will be inherited by all of the scroll areas and the events in them unless they are overridden at the scroll area or event level.
  • Merge AoE data into one event with cumulative damage/healing done with number of normal and crits specified.
  • Show overhealing amounts against yourself or party/raid members.
  • Color unit names according to their class (including CUSTOM_CLASS_COLORS support).
  • Color damage amounts according to damage type.
  • Show partial effects (resists, absorbs, vulnerabilities, etc) colored according to type.
  • Filter output information with a full suite of spam controls.
  • Load on demand options.
  • For mod developers:
    • Output your own scrolling messages with the MikSBT.DisplayMessage function instead of having to create your own frame and animation code. You can also use your own font by first registering it with MSBT via the MikSBT.RegisterFont function.
    • Create custom animation styles.
    • See the included API.html file for reference information.

Would it be possible to implement the same animation options for sticky text as for regular? This would allow me to basically create 2 separate columns (1 crit/sticky, 1 non-crit/sticky) in my scroll areas.

Unless I don't understand what you're trying to achieve, you can already move every event into whatever scroll area you choose. Coupled with the ability to create new scroll areas, you could create a new area and move the crit/sticky event types to the new area.

Currently, the sticky scroll styles only apply to events that are either marked "Always Sticky" through the checkbox in the event settings dialog, or critical hits/heals assuming the "Sticky Crits" checkbox is enabled. In the case of crit hits/heals, they are separate events that can be configured (and hence moved) independently of their non-crit counterparts.

Thanks for the reply!

As an example, I have my player incoming scroll area set to slowly scroll normal events straight down with a left alignment. Sticky events (crits) are set to the Pow animation.

What I'd like to be able to do is set sticky events to also scroll straight down, but with a right alignment. This would make normal events in that scroll area scroll down the left side of that scroll area, while sticky events would scroll down the right side.

I guess I could create additional scroll areas and assign crit/sticky events one-by-one to those new areas, but (1) I don't know how without fiddling with it, and (2) that would be like 2-3 hours of fiddling versus changing 2 dropdowns.

In general, it seems kind of arbitrary and limiting that sticky and non-sticky events should have different subsets of animation options. Then again, I don't know what the implementation is like under the hood so it may be a huge pain to homogenize the animation options into a superset of the current options available for sticky and non-sticky events.

Player/Realm names

Hi first of all thanks for the amazing addon!

Is there a way to show in the triggers only spell + player name without realm information? (full text can sometimes be too long...)

Ok, I see what you want. You would have to create a new scroll area with straight/right-alignment and set the two crit events (one for incoming melee crits and one for incoming skill crits) to the new scroll area. You'd also need to turn off "Sticky Crits" on the general tab so crits aren't always treated as sticky.

The sticky vs regular animation styles are actually quite different in how they are handled (different draw layers for proper overlaying and different scaled display times just to name a couple), and that is why they are separated.

Faustobucci:

No currently, but now that you mention it, I'll probably just make it chop the realm off by default.

Hi there,
is there any modifier like %n which shows Nickname instead of Nickname-Nickrealm? The main reason why I am lookin for such a modifier is that I am not interested from which realm a player comes in arena but in his name! Thank you.

Marshen:

As I posted a couple of posts below, I'll have it chop the realm name off in the next version which will be releasing when the 3.x patch goes live.

Livrone:

Look at the "Key Skill Usage" entry of the "Example Triggers" section in the included readme.html. You would just want the skill name to be "Shadowstep" or whatever the equivalent name is in your client's language. Don't forget it is case sensitive so make sure it exactly matches the skill name.

As far as I know, it should be working fine with Simplified Chinese. Can you be more specific as to what isn't working?

Triggers for Instants

Well first off, great mod I love it!!

I'm having a problem getting triggers to go off for like kick or pummel, I've read a post saying that currently it isn't working for instant attacks like that unless it puts a debuff on me. But that post was back in April, so I'm wondering if the mod is still at that same point, or should it be working? Thanks much!!!

Instant casts should show up as "Cast Success" events. You should be able to trigger on them without any issues in the latest version.

Hey,

I've been having some difficulty in creating a trigger. I want to create one that activates when I enter combat, and haven't had much luck on my own in making it.

Keep forgetting to switch out of Crusader Aura on my pally. /facepalm
