ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1829 - issue with add fields in config pages accepting a dropped item but not being able to handle it, they will now ignore it unless it can be used (adding an item to a custom category)
  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1867 - menu library issue with ColorPickerFrame
  • changed - the search window should now load a bit faster, and should update significantly faster
  • changed - switch character menu layout to accomodate people with characters on lots of servers

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

The items are there when you mouse over them, and you can see quantities and quest ! over the green, but not a single item icon. I noticed when you right-click the item, it BRIEFLY flashes the proper icon (when I was sending something via mail anyways)

if all the textures are really bright green then that texture is missing - its possible that blizzard are caching the textures now so you dont have them when you start - does it still do it after a /reload or exit?

it could also be a bug in the bag highlight code - if you could open the bag changer and mouseover a bag, see if it highlights and then brings them all back, or not.

its also possible that its a background issue, you may want to try changing the items background from texture to just a plain colour and see if that helps (it probably wont)

I've found a temporary fix, thanks to comment #7 at the Google Code page. You need to replace a few lines of the ArkInventory.xml file. I've made the change, tested it, and have put the zipped .xml file here:

I admit I did not download the file you linked, but I did follow the google comments and made the changes myself and it worked fabulously! There are three lines in ArkInventory.xml that must be changed. I used notepad++ to change them, but any editor should work. Just do a search for file="" and change it to file="Interface\Buttons\UI-PassiveHighlight"

I tested out the file he linked, worked great =D thank you very much for making it, I couldnt find good "how to" info so was unable to fix mine, mind you i was half looking... sooooo either way, ty for the temp fix! =D

After installing newest version ALL mounts are re-enabled !

Hi,

I use the summon LDB mount feature of AI and have disabled 100+ Mounts one bye one so
that it only summons my 5 favorite mounts.
(I did not find a way to disable all or a chunk of them.)

Now after installing the latest version ALL of my mounts are re-enabled!
Both ground and flying.
Is this a bug ?

Edit:
the summon mount code seems to be broken. although I disabled all but 1 flying mounts, it stills
summons a random mount from all of my collection.
sometimes I get error message from WOW "you can't use that here".

i keep getting this error
ask the author of nibrealUI to fix the issue (its in the FrameMover.lua file, its probably tainting a global variable)

ai is getting blamed because its the first mod that loaded the callbackhander library that all the mods are sharing.

nope, its normal. youre setting the wrong options (i think), that area in the config is for correcting buggy mount data, not selecting which mounts should be randomly chosen

open the mounts location, click on the main icon, select mount, select type of mount, select actual mount, select it of you want it to be one of your random mounts. much easier than disabling hundreds (most people usually have just a few mounts they want enabled)

same goes for pets

if you had an ldb mod youd have easier access to those menus

'til now it worked my way but your correct use of that feature is much more comfortable!

Not sure if this has been brought up before - if it has, I apologize. Sometimes when I'm in edit mode with my bank bag, I'll right click on certain items, and I can't do anything with their options, it just puts it in my regular bag, so I can't sort those items the way that I want to. Any tips?

EDIT: One more question. In the past, when I've used AI, I use the currency LDB display, and it shows all my characters and guild bank's totals for gold. Only now, it only shows my alliance toons and guild banks, but not the horde. Is there something I can do to display horde as well?

Problem with AI blocking glyph/talent changes

I ran the taintlog to see what was causing the errors and one of the addons I have that has been causing problems is apparently AI. This is the info from the taintlog.
