What is Gladius?
Gladius adds enemy unit frames to arenas for easier targeting and focusing. It shows a health bar, a mana bar below the health bar (optional), a cast bar below the mana bar (optional), a class icon to the left side of the health bar (optional) and important buffs and crowd control durations (optional, overlays the class icon). The frame resizes itself to the current bracket (optional).

Gladius uses the 3.0.2 arena unit ids, therefore it'll add units automatically to the frame (byebye targeting macros) and you'll always be able to target/focus the enemies, regardless of if they are added when you're in combat. The cast bars and the buff/debuff timers should be 100% correct.

You can add important buffs and crowd controls in the auralist.lua file. You will have to select a priority for it. If a buff/debuff is already displaying when the spell is cast it'll only show up on the class icon if the priority equals or is higher than the current one displayed.

More features:
Arena enemies targets (optional): displays the class of the arena enemy's current target in a small frame on the health bar to the right.

Trinket status (optional): has a few different display options, but in general it shows if the PvP Trinket is ready for the arena enemy.

Slash commands:
/gladius ui, config, options - displays the configuration screen
/gladius test1-5 - shows a test frame with the chosen amount of test units
/gladius hide - hides the test frame
/gladius trinket - simulates a trinket being used for the first arena target

But.. but.. this is very similar to Proximo and SSAF?
Yes, I simply created this as a learning project for Lua. I actually didn't plan on releasing it but in the end I thought it turned out pretty good and decided to give it a go. I do not expect to start competing with the big boys, but perhaps someone else is interested in using it.

How do you change the health bar colors/transparency?

I see option for every bar except the health bars. I dont like class colored bars I want them all say green or red with no transparency, how can I do this?

Looking for a way to use Alt + Right Click.

Pretty sure Alt, Shift, Cntrl (any modifiers) currently do not work.


A lot of people do not use a 5 button mouse, so is there any chance of adding modifiers so spells can be cast via Alt + Click?

If its too much work to add this, is it possible to just change the Middle Mouse, or Mouse Button 4/5 to Alt+Click in the lua?

Optionally, is there any way for you to add Clique support? The author says it is extremely easy to do so. This was his reply:

You should contact that addon author to have them add support. This is done trivially:

ClickCastFrames = ClickCastFrames or {}
ClickCastFrames[GladiusButton1] = true
ClickCastFrames[GladiusButton2] = true
ClickCastFrames[GladiusButton3] = true
ClickCastFrames[GladiusButton4] = true
ClickCastFrames[GladiusButton5] = true

Essentially, ensure the table is created and then add the button object itself as a key, with true as the value. This registers the unit frame for ALL click-casting, not just what is offered by Clique. This standard was created during the 2.0 transition for all developers to follow.

Might be a stupid question but i was wondering if there was a way to keybind keys to select targets in gladius, like the first target f1 second target f2... it would make things easier

For the Clique support, you should move

ClickCastFrames[secure] = true

below the SecureActionButtonTemplate creation line, since that means you don't have to worry about if Clique was loaded later on (Although, I can't remember how Ace3 does OnInitialize) and it also means you only create the buttons you need when you need them, not right at the start.

clever, was trying with something there but couldn't get it to work (hadn't slept for the entire night, not the best time to code eh?) but will fix it later for the next rev

edit.
actually, I remember I encountered an issue with that since it wouldn't register Gladius in Clique before you had either /gladius test or entered an arena, might get annoying.

great mod!
Only problem I have is it doesnt show who my teammates are targeting. Proximo used to just have the class colour of my team members as a small bar above each enemy.

Any chance we can get that in the next rev?
