PhoenixTooltip  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.0 beta
by: dlemvigh [More]

PhoenixTooltip simplifies and shortens gear tooltips. The main feature is shorting stats from "Equip: improves some rating by this much" to the more readable "+X rating".

From the options menu, it is also possible to hide unnecessary lines of information, like "<Made by X>", and <Shift Right Click to Socket>".

PhoenixTooltip runs just fine along side with RatingBuster, even though they both reformat the tooltip text. PhoenixTooltip reformats the lines to blizzards own shorthand notation, which RatingBuster already understand.

On rare occations it can be difficult to see if an item is enchanted or not, since the enchant text and stat text now looks exactly the same, so there is an option to change the color of the enchant text.

If you see any items that aren't formated the way they should, or have any suggestions, please don't hesitate to leave a comment.

0.1 - Initial release
0.2 - Fixed issue with tooltip caching
0.3 - Added options menu and ability to remove unwanted lines from tooltips
0.4 - Fixed issue with enchant text being indistinguishable from items stats on rings and cloaks. Also fixed error in config menu code, causing "hide soulbound" tag to be unchangeable.
0.5 - Fixed bug where items with green armor text where recolored like enchants
0.6 - Added options to change the enchant color
0.7 - Fixed bug where default color for enchants was black
1.0 - After month of zero bug emergence, I'm upgrading to release status
1.1 - Added mastery, fixed some missed stats
1.2 - Added set bonus, fixed issue with reforge tag not being shown, fixed "finkle's skinner" skinning stat.
1.3 - Added heirloom exp. bonus.

2.0 beta - Updated for Mist of Pandaria Version 5.0.3 (15882)
option panel is disabled for now

I guess simply changing the green color to a different shade could help with distinguishing enchants from normal stats.

A good point. I'm still in the process of labeling this issues as a bug or a feature, and what would be the best solution in case it needs to be solved. This is only close to a problem on specific combinations of items and enchants, like: +Spell Penetration on cloak, or + Attack Power on rings. In all cases it's merely a cosmetic issue.

The main issue in fixing this is distinguishing enchant text from other text. I can't think of a good way, other than having regular expressions for every enchant in the game.

One coloring suggestion would be to take a loot at StatStain (outdated, but still works) and see the colors that it uses. Either look at getting permission to 'merge' the two addons or something. StatStain is a critical thing to me, I never play without it, and having a shorter name for all the junk would be fantastic as well.

Just a suggestion

Thanks for the suggestion, I was able to extract what I needed from StatStain. So now enchants gets their own color. I might add a color switcher for the enchants in the future, though I won't go as far as to merge PhoenixTooltip and StatStain.

Please make the statstaining optional. I was going to try this out, but if it's going to do that bit automatically I'm afraid I'll pass.

Edit: Or make it so the user can decide what colors to use, and have them default to normal.

I'm planning on adding a color switcher in the options panel soon, I'll probably let it default to the green color. That should give me the best of both worlds...

I'm hoping to have it ready by the end of the week, so look out for version 0.6 if your still interested.

Thank you all for your interest and feedback, much appreciated

Adding the color switcher turned out to be easier than expected, v0.6 is now ready.

Adding it to favorites and downloading. I won't have time to play until tomorrow evening so you'll have to wait for real feedbck then.

In the screenshots is that RatingBuster stats on the bottom or this mods? If RB, does this mod format them like that, cause I like it a whole lot more than the cluttered display RB has.

How do we actually change the color for the enchants? Default is a black color that can barely be seen on the tooltip. I tried various commands, but couldn't find one that worked.

The screenshot is from a fresh installment of RatingBuster, with stat summery disabled as the only change. It shows that you can have the formatted stat lines from PhoenixTooltip, and the added rating conversions from RatingBuster on the same lines. Hope that answers your question.

The black color should be fixed now. But since your version now already has a color setting it'll continue to be black untill you change it in the blizzard options menu.

Game Menu > Interface > AddOns > PhoenixTooltip > Reset Enchant Color

I was referring to the straight green text (not the convert number in parentheses), but you still answered my question.

You might want to get rid of the WowMatrix files, now that it no longer works.
