DaHud Drathal  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v3.3
by: BDelacroix [More]

This is an addon for an addon.

I used to use Drathal's Hud. It did for me what I wanted in a heads up display. Centrally located health and mana and buffs. It went away when i didn't need to see it anymore. Drathal decided to stop supporting it for reasons I'll let you read about on his mod.

Caeryn then took up keeping it updated for a time. Then one patch I fixed it up when it started giving out display anomolies.

Not long ago I ran into DaHud. An Ace mod. It is a kind of generic HUD mod that lets you fix things up the way you like them. I didn't like any of the default styles it came with and the authore of DaHud has stated he isn't adding anymore styles.

DaHud is active and kept updated by the author. It is also highly configurable. So, I endeavored to recreate drathal's hud as closely as possible using DaHud.

For a long time I would have to copy my files back in for them to work. I finally got around to creating a "mod" of this to attach a drathal style to DaHUD. In this form, you don't have to manually find all the graphics and reset them. It shows up as a style in the DaHUD dropdown.

It also doesn't disappear every time wowmatrix updates DaHud. It doesn't require any fiddling with the DaHud code. It is, as I said, an addon for an addon.

As such, you do have to have DaHud (its a dependency) for this to work.

The second picture shows the buffs on my target. They are large because those are self applied buffs. Everyone else's buffs/debuffs are small boxes so don't freak out.

I find it useful to easily see when my debuffs are coming off so I can reapply them.

I hope you enjoy it. I don't forsee it breaking as it is really just some graphics and lua file that extends existing tables.

As this is just a graphic mod, I can't do anything about any functionality of the DaHUD addon itself. That's Benumbed's project. I don't even know him, but I will extend thanks for an versatile HUD addon.

This will work with WOTLK when DaHud works with WoTLK.

Just install this like any normal mod. To use it, select drathal from the drop down style menu in DaHud.

TODO:

* fiddle with the bar graphics a bit more as they don't actually display losses until about 95% health/mana. Its not as bad as it sounds.

2.01: No huge changes. I added the Target's Name and target's target to a bar under the Target's name. These slightly deviate from the old drathal layout. They are easily removed if you don't want that information there. Alternatively, you don't have to update, either, as its the only change.

2.0b: No change really, just removed the extraneous folder in the icons folder. Sorry for that. If you are curious, it contains PSP files I used to make the images. That is, paintshop pro. They weren't required for the addon. It was for development purposes.

3.00:
* Moved the pet happiness icon to the right a bit. Fixed the self and target pvp icon that somehow broke with the patch.

3.10:

* nothing needed to be changed. Just checked the "works with 3.1" box.

* This does not fix the brokeness of DaHud itself. Its just a style definition. Still waiting for an official fix.

3.3:

Changed the .toc so it won't be out of date.

A couple of things.

I have started putting my addons on curse. They finally fixed the issue with it not recognizing new files.

Also, I have finally bitten the bullet and changed to icehud. Too many changes came along to where it was easier to just make a custom dhud like layout with Icehud.

Re: MetaHud getting updated as well

I am back, everyone.

I am posting an updated DaHUD to here in a few seconds. I have tried metahud once I think. Like I said, I don't want to farkle around with coding for another HUD that may or may not be abandoned. At least, until keeping the one I do have becomes too much work.

Also, this is just a graphic mod. Sure there is some LUA involved but its pretty much just graphics and the LUA to assign variables.

Well, except that I needed to fix the missing (and apparently now obsolete) database of SpellIDs in the parent mod.

So I have no plans to do any collaboration at this time.

MetaHud getting updated as well

Thanks for the update. This HUD was always my favorite Others must love it too because MetaHud is getting updated by Nuckin. Seeing as how both HUD's are very similar, any chance of collaboration?

Yes, but I'm tired of working to get a mod the way I like it only for it to be abandoned.

Its getting very old.

Impending update

I know this is just an addon to an addon and shouldn't require any updates. However, I actually do have one. I couldn't tell you why but the PVP icon wasn't showing up after the last patch while it was before. I fixed that now.

The bad news is I don't have it with me right now so will update this when I get back home.

In a similar note, Benumbed - author of DaHUD hasn't been seen since before summer. In addition, DaHUD is an ACE mod and ace has recently been going through a merger with Curse.

DaHUD broke in 3.0. Not entirely non functional but it was messy. I have adequately patched my own copy. I say patched because it doesn't FIX everything, it just stops the error messages puking all over my screen. I await Benumbed's update if one is coming. If it doesn't, I'm not sure what recourse people may have.

The problems arose in Buffs.lua and Threat-2.0.lua. The buff problem is that some spellIDs no longer exist or have been changed. There was no error checking for NIL returns from functions that didn't find the spellid requested. One of them I had to fix was the new ShadowMeld. I am sure there may be others but I haven't run into them yet.

The problem in Threat-2.0 was similar. I don't know what spell it wasn't able to find except that GetSpellInfo was returning Nil, indicating that the requested ID wasn't being found. There was no error check so it would just bomb out with an error message. I stuck an error trap in to keep it from bombing.

So you see, what I have done isn't a fix, its just well patched so it will continue to work. Therefore, I am not uploading my patches to DaHUD. In addition to the fact that it isn't my addon and its been less than a week (not even one free weekend) since the patch came out.

The ideal situation is that Benumbed puts out a proper fix. Other than that, at least you know it is fixable.
