Description:

MSBT is designed to be an extremely lightweight, efficient, and highly configurable mod that makes it easier to see combat information by scrolling the information on the screen in separate, dynamically creatable scroll areas. It is a replacement for Blizzard's Floating Combat Text and Damage output.


Features:
  • Lightweight and efficient design.
  • Scroll incoming damage/heals, outgoing damage/heals, and notifications in separate configurable scroll areas on the playing field.
  • Display player and pet cooldown completion alerts.
  • Display loot alerts with a total of how many are now in inventory.
  • Add triggers that will allow you to show notifications based on a variety of conditions.
  • Assign a sound file to play for events/triggers.
  • Dynamically create new scroll areas and assign any event/trigger to them.
  • Customize the position, size, animation style, enabled state, font style, font size, font outline, and opacity for each of the scroll areas.
  • Customize each individual event's color, font style, font size, font outline, opacity, output message, enabled state, and scroll area.

is it possible to change the profile through slash commands?

I currently have tried

/run MikSBT.Profiles:SelectProfile("Healer");

It doesn't throw an error but it doesn't change the profile either :S
Sorry if its written somewhere, ive been looking but found nothing so far

Spell Reflect Notification

With the new ICC 5 man heroics, more mobs are using spell reflect and for whatever reason, I don't see the shield they cast. I'd like to setup MSBT to notify me via a notification area and play a certain sound.

I went into Events | Spell Reflects and set it to notify my custom area and play the You Will Die sound. I just ran an ICC 5 man heroic and it didn't get triggered.

Am I missing something?

So no one has found a way to get taste for blood to show up. Yet sudden death shows. Both of these show up in the combat log. So there's got to be a way to hack it in.

It could be a month or more before this gets fixed, figure they'll be a bug fix patch which will then be on the ptrs for 2 or 3 weeks.

Supress Pet Heal

I was wondering whether it was possible if I could supress the heals that my pet recieves? As an enh shaman whenever I pop my spirit wolves I get a heap of spam x2 and they heal both themselves and me. I've already merged it to every 5 seconds but I still don't really need 2 lines being displayed saying healed me for x and healed pet for x.

I added a trigger to show when rend drops from the target.
I need to know if I'm missing anything. This should only trigger for my own rend dropping off.

MSBT broken

Since a couple weeks before 3.3 came out (have updated with the latest version), this addon randomly breaks for me (stops displaying any scrolling text).

Tonight, I even deleted both the MikScrollingBattleText.lua files in SavedVariables, then set it up manually in-game again. It was then working for the first few hours, then randomly stopped working again.

I don't know why. My UI has very few issues, and I've been constantly updating all my addons.

I would be willing to send my config file.

Edit: Yes, I have the latest release version of MSBT (5.4.74).

Thanks for the nice addon. Was hoping that it can be configured a certain way so that it graduates to an extradoniary addon!

I am wondering if I can create a custom scroll area for just heroic strike damage and also one for just slam damage. Is it possible? If so could someone sort of explain it to me. I figured it would be a custom event but I didn't see how to do such a thing. I did see the custom triggers and messed around with that. I was able to get HS to display but it wasn't telling me how much damage each one was doing.

Hi mikord, I was wondering if it's possible to adjust font sizes for outside apps that reroute through the notification scroll area such as Chatter and Omen. They do not have settings for it.

Hello all:

As I'm sure you've all noticed, I've been away for the last few weeks, so I'll try to catch up on the comments a bit here.

First, let me state that Blizzard still has not fixed the combat log bug where certain procs are not showing up. The hack I put into v5.4.74 catches the most common ones, but I am aware of two issues:

1) It doesn't currently catch every single proc on frequent procs such as Missile Barrage
2) There is an issue that happens sometimes regarding a bad argument to bit_band

I'll work on fixing those two issues over the next few days as time permits.


Also, a known Blizzard issue that has been reported several times and I can't do anything whatsoever about is that their combat log sometimes just stops reporting. When that happens EVERY mod that relies on the combat stops working. This includes damage parsers, log-based notifiers, scrolling texts, etc


There are a ton of comments here and most related to the points above, so if I don't answer you directly below, chances are it's covered above.


Oriom:

Replace the colon after Profiles with a dot and it should work.


Galvin:

You don't really need to specify the skill id, as the skill name is enough to catch it. As long as the proc shows up in the combat log this way works correctly. The AuraHack is only there to work around bugs introduced by Blizzard in Patch 3.3 where certain procs aren't being reported to the combat log.


Patag:

You'd need to look for an Aura Application on your current target via a trigger. The spell reflects event only applies to showing you when something has been reflected.


RLD:

Thanks for the update. There is currently a trigger for generic eclipse, but since it's changed I'll need to update things.


Forcir:

Edit the Low Health trigger and change the threshold.

The only way that's possible is through the use of triggers, but there are limitations to that approach such as lack of merging and damage type coloring.

The API call available to ouside addons allows the font and font sizes to be specified, but it's up to those addons to take advantage of that capability.

If they are not specifying a font size at all (probably the case) and they allow you to specify the output scroll area, you could force it by creating a new scroll area and setting its font size to whatever value you want (which would then be inherited by all messages going to it that aren't overriden themselves).
