IceCap

Version: 2.4c
by: corveroth [More]

IceCap is a gearing assistant for PvE Mages. It displays the rating needed to reach the crit (Shatter) and hit caps, as well as the nearest haste breakpoints for Living Bomb, Nether Tempest, and Combustion, plus a few other things that're handy for maging.

To configure, click the new icon on your character sheet and select each buff you expect during a raid. IceCap will account for your current gear, level, race, professions, and Arcane Brilliance automatically, and assumes a boss level target for purposes of the hit cap and crit suppression.

Problem? Suggestions?
Please submit bug reports and suggestions here.

Special thanks to the fine folks of SimulationCraft and AckisRecipeList, plus Lhivera, HamletEJ, and oscarucb.

2.4c: Shifted IceCap's attachment to avoid conflict with Outfitter.
2.4b: Moved the button to the right to resolve conflict with oQueue.
2.4a: Bug fixes for Draenei, Goblin, and lowbies.
2.4: Added support for Amplification trinkets and haste CD drums. Fixed many calculations.
2.3: Sinister meta gem parsing fix, 5.4 TOC update.
2.2: Critical calculations fixes, Frost Bomb support, tweaks, 5.3 TOC update.
2.1.1: Fixes for buffs list at level 90.

2.0: Mists of Pandaria update. Now also calculating haste and hit caps. Supports Mixology.
1.1.1: Oh yeah. Added support for Worgenism.
1.1:
  • Disabled for non-Mage characters.
  • Uses alt spec if Shatter not found (noted in tooltip)
  • De-activates until spec change if neither spec has Shatter
  • Ready for localization
1.0.3: Fixed GUI bugs and more Molten Armor stuff.
1.0.2: Added support for Focus Magic.

Simply undoing it won't be trivial, but I'll add some detection for Outfitter and upload a new version this evening.

Edit: Check out 2.4c!

Thanks.

Re: Tooltip breakdown

Np, glad to help out. I've been using Rawr for a long time to help dial in my crit rating, but I think it doesn't quite calculate crit correctly for a frost mage, and always leaves me a little short...which I don't see until I review WoL after a raid and see non-crit frostfire bolts or ice lances, or worse yet a Deep Freeze. A suggestion I might make is to have a choice for a detailed tooltip, where you can see the soft crit cap crit rating, an entry for each of the buffs you have selected and how much crit they are worth, crit from gear, crit from talent/racial, the crit suppression penalty, and then your total crit rating and distance from cap. It would be nice to see everything laid out like that, so you could be sure you haven't missed anything when planning out reforging/etc. Thanks!
I'll think about something like this, since I already have a lot of those numbers at hand. I think, in practical terms, the most useful addition would be an indication of how much more crit you could obtain via reforging. Consider that race, crit suppression, and talents are all essentially static (unless we're seriously considering dropping points in Piercing Ice), which leaves only buffs and gear as variables, and buffs are already shown explicitly in the configuration tooltip. Though, I suppose I could think about ways to show more clearly how much crit you get from food, flasks, and Kings. Anyhow, that leaves only gear, and reforging is obviously the least inconvenient way to continue working towards the cap.

Bug report appreciated, looks like that was due to a simple typo, so I've got a fix being uploaded right now. A guildie also noted that there's no option for Focus Magic; expect that to be fixed soon (in the mean time, treat that as 540 Crit Rating off the top if you expect that, it's not affected by anything else).
