ChatSounds  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.4.6(50400)
by: Dridzt [More]

Credits: almostconnected (created for WoW 1.x)
Adopted with author's permission since version 0.0.8

Description by almostconnected

I often miss guild and party messages popping up on my screen since they don't make a sound.
I figured I'd make a mod to solve the problem.
Features
  • Can play new sounds for Guild, Officer, Party, Raid, Raid Leader,
Battlegrounds, Battlegrounds Leader, Custom Channel Messages and Whispers.
  • Force Whisper sounds for every whisper.
  • Allows users to /r after sending a whisper without getting a reply.
  • *new* Allows blacklisting of specific custom channels.
Useful if an addon is joining a custom channel and spamming messages.
  • Options frame is accessible through the comic bubble icon menu next to the Chat Frame,
    or by typing /chatsounds.
  • Saves its settings per character.

I'm having the same problem as Damask, I hear a continual "plink, plink, plink" and it's quite irritating

Is there any way to include an option to exclude certain custom channels from making sounds? I've got a mod that uses a chat slot, and even though the text is hidden, I still hear the "plink, plink" that all the other custom channels use.
oooh, custom sounds for each channel'd be nice too.

I just downloaded this and applied my own sounds (those similar to my IM) and was wondering if there was a way or addon that could add sound to people in your guild or on your friends' list logging on and off. Think that would be really nice and a major bonus to this as I am lovin this addon.

I use prat 3.0 for chat but its created channel sounds is broken as well. /sigh.
I have the same concern about not being able to use sounds on custom channels.

Are you trying to use the live version on ptr?

Look under Optional Files and try the WotLK beta version:

2.4

For any that still use this addon, it should work on 2.4 as is with a simple .toc update
or checking "load out of date addons" in wow addon selection screen.

I will not update it here until I've had a chance to logon to the live 2.4 servers (playing in EU) and verify it's so.

(looks around... yeah, this is the right place to post this... ahem)

Had the problem show up again, and ChatSounds was OFF when it did. So its clear its not ChatSounds. So readers of this mod should not be worried !!!

More details about the issue though:

It occurred in Azuremyst this time. I left Azure Watch and a Strider attacked me and the detail frame didnt show up, and was stuck this way for all attacks on me from anything else until I logged/relogged back in.

I had been attacked by a Strider on my way TO Azure Watch, yet the only things that happened while I was there, and right up to when I saw the problem was: turned in two quests, picked up another kill for stuff quest, and picked up the furbolg totem quest. The one that spawns a furbolg you follow up the hill.... hmmm?

Come to think of it, the other time I got this problem, was when I was escorting the Druid Bear guy in Dark Shore to Ashenvale. However, it doesn't explain the other times I saw this problem... as I didnt escort anything before those. Also when I escorted the powder courier in southeast Loch Modan the problem didnt occur.

I'm still trying to pinpoint it... cause its really driving me insane. I didnt want to dirty up your files comments with all this, but since it had been discussed I wanted to make it clear that the problem is NOT ChatSounds and that people should not be worried about using ChatSounds.
