A Data Broker plugin that provides 2 blocks: one for guildmates & one for friends. These blocks show informative and interactive clickable tooltips. It's fast and lightweight.
Informations/screenshots are not up-to-date (and it's boring to do ).
It has the following functionalities on entries
- click guildmates or friends to whisp them.
- alt+click guildmates or friends to invite them.
- control+click friends to edit note.
- if you're an officier, you can control+click guildmates to edit their public note, and control+right click to edit officer's note.
- right click guildmates to sort the closest column.
- if you're an officer, you can click the MOTD to edit.
- middle click on friends to remove from friend list.
- control+mousewheel to resize tooltip.
And the following functionalities on blocks
- control+click to toggle hints so you don't have to remember all this crap.
- left click on guild block to toggle guild panel
- right click on guild block to toggle the guild notes column.
- shift+click on guild block to toggle guild name.
- left click on friend block to toggle friend panel.
- shift+right click on blocks to toggle total number of guildmates or friends.
- middle click on friend block to show the "add a friend" dialog box.
It shows
- check marks for grouped guildmates and friends.
- class icon (mainly to provide a column to sort) when not grouped.
- class colored names.
- level colored in grey, green, yellow, orange or red depending of your own level.
- zone colored in green, yellow or red depending of faction.
- public notes (and officer notes for guildmates if you have the rights).
- rank for guildmates.
If you have AddonLoader, the loading of this addon will be delayed.
If you have Skinner, this addon will be automatically skinned.

The column you labeled with 'Toon' should be 'Name' to match the normal friends list naming scheme. |

Using a few of the comments I have come up with a way that makes everyone happy.

Nah, 3 panels is too much but just one is too little... the comment was made that if we wanted that we'd go with broker_socialstate and I agree. I like your mod the way it is with the guildies and the friends separated. IMHO, RealID friends can just be added on to the friends panel. Put like a fancy little break and then add their info.
Friend1 Friend2 Friend3 ------- RealID1 RealID2 I dont see a big need to do integration other than that they are using the same panel. Just put the info you want for friends above and the info you want for RealIDs below (or switched, which is what I would prefer) and don't worry about it =P |

Maybe put the RealId friends' server in the Location field (if they're on a different server, anyway) as far as integration goes.

Even if there are two separate sections (normal and RealID friends), they are both still categorized as friends. They should be treated as such and housed within the same LDB object's tooltip.
I can understand your reasoning for not wanting to include all three (friends, RealID, and guild) into a single LDB object like Broker_SocialState does. I'm pretty sure that is why most of us prefer your addon. However, I'm unable to understand the logic behind dedicating a third LDB object to just RealID friends. I do like how you plan to present our RealID friends' information (two lines of details per friend).

you can still use my option. Not seperate realid from regular at all, just seemlessly integrate them into friends broker like normal with an extra columb showing realm.

I looked at Broker_SocialState a bit and, while I understand the practical use of the all in one (except with large guild and/or friend list), I really don't like the wasted space that ensue.
So for now I lean toward a third panel that would include more real friend informations such as: - faction (as an icon, next to realm or toon name) - broadcasts: yours (that would behave just like the guild's MotD) and those from friends. - guild name ? - perhaps race icon if I can find some And that might be presented on 2 lines (a small gap would be added to separate each friend of course, for a clear view): - first line: status icon, real name / surname, (game), broadcast message(they could be pretty long) - game/toon related informations (and notes ?) on second line. Also, the second line could then be different according to the game (or no second line if there's no information from that game, probably like SC2). Who knows, maybe we will have informations on Diablo 3 toons. Of course I understand it's really annoying to have 3 different brokers, but later on, depending on user inputs, I may rework my tooltips to integrate both real friends and wow regular friends in a single broker (and why not guildmates too). Heck, that's why I don't use external libraries, I have full control (at the expanse of a lot of extra work though ). /discuss |

Re: Real ID stuff
ps i noticed you were just using the blizzard sorting. but as a person who switched from elks guildfu, i know he had better sorting code, sorted by zone then by class, then by level...like 3 levels deep of sorting or so..

i believe there is an api to check realid friends char name. you could simply scan realid friends, then scan char names, then display char names on list instead of realids..it could be easier that way to translate their location etc...then you just watch the realid login/logoff events to track/update it..i'm not sure how you detect zone changes though. sure there are apis for all that...
