QuestHelperLite is an unofficial branch of QuestHelper aimed at providing the core subset of features in a slimmed down lighter version. Although some of the code and art assets of QuestHelper have been utilized, QuestHelperLite has been rewritten from the ground up and is in no other way affiliated with QuestHelper and those who have worked on it in the past.

The main deviation from QuestHelper comes from not utilizing a custom database to store quest objectives and locations. Instead QuestHelperLite gets all of it's info from the game itself. This has the advantage of providing a more compact addon without the need to update once new quests are available in game. If WoW knows about it, so does QuestHelperLite. Although this provides for a much lighter and compact addon, it is not without faults and some features of the old QuestHelper are not currently possible.

The core subset of features included in QuestHelperLite are as follows:

* Quest Pathing - Calculates an optimal route for you to follow while questing
* Tracking Arrow - A configurable arrow guides you to your next objective
* World Map Icons - Quest objectives are viewable outside of your current zone
* Ant Trails - Ant trails show the best calculated optimal route
* Context Menus - Context menus are displayed when you right-click objectives
* Ignorable Objectives - Ignore unwanted objectives

QuestHelperLite will stay updated with donors like you!

But I do have a couple questions and these questions could possibly turn into suggestions or requests, since I would like to have these features. 1) Is there currently in support for changing the arrow design? I would like something a little more minimal, without being too bland. The arrow is too distracting being default like that from the original QuestHelper. 2) Is there currently a feature that will report to your party the updates to the quest you're doing? For example: Say, me and my friend are doing a quest together, and my friend wants to know right away how many of something we have to collect that I have currently, QuestHelper Lite reports it in the party chat for example "Item Name 6/10" ect... If those features are not available, any chance you could implement them?

Stuff like tracking quests of group members, and getting a list of unreceived quests. I plan on expanding and adding new features like these in the future, but some things will be difficult because without a database, I can't for instance know where the quest givers are. So basically any feature that requires a database for information that can't be obtained in game will be impossible to implement.

Group tracking shouldn't be too difficult, but I want to focus first on getting an options GUI, customizing options for the objective tracker and then any bug fixes that I'm sure will come up. For this first release I wanted to focus on just the basics, they were complicated enough =D

I planned on giving some customization options for the quest tracker in the next release. Moving, Resizing etc.

1) I focused more on implementing the same look and feel from QuestHelper, so the arrow was a straight copy. If I can play around with some more customization options for it I will, but I will be limited by the arrow art.

2) I hope to implement group tracking in a future release. Maybe simply printing progress to party chat would be an alternative until it's implemented.

I haven't tried it on the beta realms. But if you find any bugs (beta, PTR or live) just post them here and I'll take a look.

One specific one I can remember offhand is the Argent Tournament Daily "sword" quests. I'll take the quest, it doesn't get added to the tracker and if I force track it, seconds later QHL untracks it. Any ideas? This only happens with my tracker with QHL running and I don't have any other dynamic quest tracker mods running. Only ones that move and or modify the tracker's display options (Chinchilla minimap and CTMod).

I type /qh and it tells me what I can do, but nothing opens, and there is no trail, and I've made sure that trail is on, and I turned arrow off cause it's not picking up quests, and when I track my quests with the default track option, the little yellow circles next to each quest with numbers or ? marks on it, flicker (disappear and reappear). There is no error given.

Ovid A Murloc Raider Forum posts: 4 File comments: 5 Uploads: 3	I have an issue that is similar to the original questhelper, I get huge fps drops and slow downs on all toons. It is using an ever increasing amount of CPU time every update. It actually has worse performance then the original and I would much rather have this one. Last edited by Ovid : 11-11-10 at 11:29 AM.
