SBF 3.2 Beta  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.2.3
by: Satrina, father0fnine

SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

3.2.3
+ When clicking off buffs, the one you meant to dismiss should be dismissed
+ ButtonFacade backgrounds and gloss should be hidden/shown correctly now
- Names still do not show in interactive frames
- Sorting for interactive frames is not yet implemented

3.2.2
Fix two errors on load/zone

3.2.1
Mostly cosmetic fixes
Spell tab should be happy now

Heya

I have decided to try beta . I have been playing with filters a little to try and copy my former layout. Maybe I misunderstand how they work now but I seem to have an issue with creating a frame of buffs that are under 60 secs.
Basically I created a new frame for player, set it to display buffs, made it a parent of Frame 1 ( so that expiring buffs flow to my new frame ) and set the filter via drop down menu to display buffs under 60 secs. The result is that all my buffs are in Frame 3 and they are doubled. Am I doing it wrong?

Satrina,
The buttonfacade skin being overlapped by the buff icons occurs on more skins than just serenity round, I've also encountered it on Entropy

I've removed the ability to change the frame level of icons and bars for beta 7 (but left the movement of timers, names, and buff counts). Hopefully with SBF not mucking around with that, buttonfacade will not get messed up.

Okayam - Recommend you read the linked page on the addon info page, it explains how SBF 3.1 is different from 3.0.

Yeah I read it but I didn't understand white and blacklists at first. It makes sense when I read it not when I am applying it.

I made a frame for target's debuff and set to 'whitelist' ( show me nothing except what I say to ). When I set up list of filters:

n=faerie fire (feral)&c
n=rip&my

I get is this error:

[2009/03/15 12:02:03-102-x22]: SatrinaBuffFrame-3.1\SBFFilters.lua:396: bad argument #1 to 'ipairs' (table expected, got nil)

---

I don't understand.

try n~faerie fire instead of the full name with parentheses (but I've fixed that for beta 7)

First of all - thanks for all the work and dedication you keep putting into this project. I want you to know that it really is appreciated a lot. I realized that both my wishes for larger icons and clickthrough frames made it into this version. Also filtering debuffs on enemys depending on name and who and/or which class cast them is exactly what Iīve been hoping for Quartz to do for quite some time. I guess now SBF will take over this job and Quartz will be reduced to its core competency of castbars.

Now that this has been said I do have a question/suggestion though. Is it somehow possible to filter out all the (de)buffs in one Frame that are shown in any of the other frames? For example if Iīm having one frame that shows all my consumable buffs and donīt want them to show in any of the other frames do I have to manually filter them out in every other (blacklisted) frame?

edit: I just read the passage where you wrote that using a whitelist filter on the blacklist will do exactly what I asked for. This seems comprehesible if maybe a little cumbersome when used with a lot of filters. On the other hand I can see the beauty in keeping it relative simple and yet very flexible - in this sense - disregard my suggestion.

edit2: Two more things I realized so far while configuring SBF again - first it doesnīt seem to be possible to create a single frame that shows both buffs and debuffs anymore even if theyīre whitelisted (at least I couldnīt find a way). This makes sense for most applications but thereīre some where itīs useful to be able to display both in one frame (e.g. Aspect of the Viper and Mutagenic Injection as in my case). I worked around this by creating an entirely new frame, copying the original frame and moving it right on top of the other. This feels like a rather crude workaround though.

Secondly - and this may or may not be related to other addons - when I get so many filters in the "Filters in use" box that I have to scroll up/down the box keeps closing at seemingly random short intervalls. This makes selecting filters at the bottom of the list rather frustrating to the point where itīs propably easier and faster to just rewrite them again.

edit3: This is just a minor cosmetic suggestion. In order to mimic the behavior of my Quartz debuff bars as close as possible Iīd love to be able to change the default colours for the diffrent types of debuffs (magic, poison etc) when checking "Colour debuff names by type".

To mix buffs and debuffs, you can set up and filter the second frame, then use buff flowing to parent it to the first one. You don't care what the second frame looks like. I've gotten this comment enough that I may just remove the mutual exclusive restriction, though.

Keep the mouse pointer in the scrolling popup box and it'll stay open as long as it's inside.

Edit: Though I notice the timeout is happening when you use the scroll bar on the side - will fix! (I always just use the mousewheel )

Alrighty, beta 7

I did not put 0.1 second resolution on the timers in yet. I'm still unconvinced that having that resolution has any practical value, but will probably put it in beta 8 since a surprising number of people seem think it is actually useful. I just want to be sure that enabling it doesn't impact the performance of people who don't use the option in any way before releasing it.

I also haven't changed anything with buff flowing to let the original frame settings be used in the new frame. It looked absolutely retarded and had troubles with expiry warnings that would be a real pain to work around. I'll just solve that problem with sticky frames in 3.2.

Just to report.

I downloaded the latest beta version. Deleted my saved variables so i could start from scratch. Started with my player buffs. I wanted to test out the buff icon size since you asked for testing on that One thing i noticed (might not even need fixing)

When i changed the values of the buff icons the icons would overlap the buttonfacade skin i am using. (currently set on blizzard default). But after a /rl all was well again. Other than that though, this was all i noticed. And I tried random values too with no problems. All i had to do was /rl for the buff skin to be back on top again.

edit:After further testing it appears that my buffs have hidden themselves some how. I have the visability set to always. and they show up in the config mode. But once i exit out of the config mode they dont show.

There may be some shenanigans with the new code to allow buffs and debuffs in the same frame. Check the General tab to make sure one of them is actually checked off.

I included your Russian translations in beta 7 - try commenting them out in the .toc and see if the error still happens?

Why are you surprised about? I think every DoT-cClass loves Quartz for this feature. DPS performance goes down by refreshing debuffs randomly in the space of a second (e.g. DoT-clipping can result). Thats it

Oh, it'll go in no worry

I'll get on the frame level weirdness for next release.

I also appear to have really messed up the show buffs and show debuffs checkboxes in options O.o
