Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

I'm not adding anything like this due to performance reasons (both CPU and memory). The database will always be incomplete and/or out-of-date. If you want an idea of what's needed, research UnitGUID.

Nope.
Is there any way to update the portraits without a major performance hit?

3.1.004/004 04/30/2009:
...
- removed Stuf_IncomingHeals; no one used it or no one liked it
I actually did use and like the IncomingHeals compatibility and I now miss it. Even when soloing or duoing as e.g. a druid, I like to have a visual indicator of how much healing I'm likely to get from the spell underway and that can vary dramatically as a percentage of my health depending on whether or not I'm wearing my tanking gear. If that functionality is a large drain on cpu, it can just be turned off, right? I'd rather not install something like Grid when I don't need all its other abilities.

I to, use the feature and love it! (I want to say I was the one that originally requested it >.>) In any case I just kept the Stuf_Incomming heals folder from the last version that had it, and it works just fine. If at some point it gets borked... then it shouldn't be terribly hard to get it to work... I hope.

I understand if totalpackage doesn't want to continue to directly support it, but if it's ok with him, we could use what he's already done with it as a foundation. Just a thought.

While I'm here and commenting... is there anyways to have the raid frames go from left to right, instead of right to left.

currently it's set to grouping... 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1.

I'd like it to group.... 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8.

Beyond that I love how everything is positioned, and haven't moved it because when I do the other frames don't move with it. I seem to be too clumsy to handle that on my own. Did I miss the lock frames together option, and am just blind?

First off, congrats on a fantastic mod. These unit frames are simply awesome. I can can pretty much pull off a copy of what I had with PitBull 4 looks-wise at a tiny fraction of the CPU usage cost.

The only feature in PitBull4 that I miss is the bar-based incoming heals module which would be icing on the cake if you could pull this off with minimal CPU usage impact. I suspect this has been discussed previously (in this thread) and is likely not implemented for that very reason. Either way, great job on a great mod.

Same. Testing this out as a replacement for X-Perl and the lack of LibHealComm-3.0 support here any more is a negative. ag_UnitFrames also supports it and heck, so does an oUF addon.

The only excess LibHealComm-3.0 provides is comm spam. Unfortunately, there is no other way to provide the data it does. So having the support as a user-choice option/a separately contained module as it used to be is a great way to appeal to both those who want the functionality as well as minimalists.

Please bring it back?

First...LOVE your unit frames. Really like the raid frames, but I will need to play with them more as a mainspec healer used to the customization of grid and healbot for several years now...I am not sure they will meet my needs, but they are icing on the cake as far as I am concerned.

The above quote caught my eye because I am a mouseover healer for years and I am having problems with the "Use" effect of Living Ice Crystals. I have tried:

/cast [target=mouseover,help,exists] Living Ice Crystals

It does not work.

So I figured it was hard coded to only work with my target so something like this might work:
/target [mouseover]
/use living ice crystals
/targetlasttarget

but [mouseover] is not a valid argument.

I am hoping from your comment you may have a way to do it.
i think you can even do /use [target=mouseover] Living Ice Crstals

Re: Re: Re: Re: v3.1.005

Regarding IncomingHeal, there are several reasons why I do not support it and removed it:
  1. I usually do not develop anything big that I do not use.
  2. LibHealComm-3.0 provides useful info such as healer names (sometimes more than one and this includes self), their heal size, and their cast times. All the mods (many users are spoiled by) simply show total heal size incoming...no matter the ETA and where your own heal is on that list. I tried to make use of this info, but no one cared for it.
  3. No one used or liked my implementation. Moreover, my design for the main frames would not work for compact raid frames, where it would be more useful.
  4. LHC so far does not support HOTS, channeled spells, and crits.
  5. LHC in combo with how it is used may cause lag and defeat the purpose of being an efficient healer or getting time-sensitive information.
  6. Incoming heals is not a feature of the default unit frames and is not directly supported by the API. So, according to Stuf's description, it's out of the scope of Stuf.
Of course no one cares for my reasons. I suggest that one simply continue using the UF that provided this much needed feature.

Again, I'm not trying to or care to compete with other UF mods. I have to draw the line or Stuf would become another performance hogger. IMO, the main fault that many authors of laggy mods have is trying to make all users happy.

You can adjust the position of each individual header.

TP man, there is no competition, this UF has the flexibility of DUF and none of the damn memory leaks. This is the best UF for me. I'll be happy so long as you keep it working for us man. Kudos to you, since it seems to be about negativity lately!

I'm not TP, but offhand I would think that would something of a memory hog. Because then you'd not only be sorting by group, but then have to RE-SORT by class. Just wondering BTW, what exactly would the purpose of that be?

There are no no need to *sort* by group, I need *grouping* by group and *sorting* by class. Purpose for ex. to have 2 class-sorted columns of raid-members.

Thanks

Just wanted to say Thank You for this fantastic unit mod. I really love how you can do just about any 'LOOK' you want with it. I too was a fan of discord unit frames and this has taken it place for me and even better!!

BTW. I was using the save per character option so now my stuf range is fixed.

Fantastic!!

OK, why would you NEED them sorting to be by class is my question? I'm not the author but I am wondering if whatever reason you need it that way would be WORTH the performance hit.
