Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

Now where is this developer support? >.> I'm horrible at writing stuff but this shouldn't be too traumatizing. Oi I second the request for allowing us to all see debuffs (or at least set an option to toggle) Although at this point it's just getting a bit nitpicky.

You can already see all debuffs (up to the max of 40 if you want) and is already configurable. Harwel was discussing the dispel icon, which only shows one debuff at a time that only pops up on friendly units if you can remove it. As of now, it works for Paladins, Priests, Shaman, Druids, and Mages. I'm now planning to add Warlocks.

Thumbs up Love this!

Hi totalpackage,

I installed StUF yesterday and I think it is an excellent addon and a full featured + lightweight alternative to PitBull (which is also an amazing mod but a bit heavy on the resources). Fantastic work! (I haven't used Stellar UF before, so can't compare, but StUF is great!)

I spent quite a long time configuring it to match the look & feel of my previous PitBull setup, and I could come up with something similar fairly easy. I did not find anything that I wanted to configure but couldn't.

To me this addon seems to be "feature complete". The only thing I would expand is the ability to set certain common features globally for all frames, e.g. the font face (I cannot give more examples, but I will think about it).

Heh, I was going to quote in the addon description, "Pitbull users should move along." Thanks for the kind words.

I did think about what I should or should not make as a global option. Users may want the font of the names different from the font of the numbers, or even different fonts between big frames and small frames. Some fonts are great for large sizes but are hard to read for tiny text, for example. I didn't want to add a restriction that would later be requested to be removed.

What I basically meant is, I enjoyed the fact with Stellar that if I wanted to make x frame 10 pixels longer I didn't have to move text, icons, debuffs, over and adjust the size of the HP/MP bars. if I missed a much easier way to simply make frame sizes larger without adjusting every element please let me know =P

I along with the previous poster would love more global options or something. And honestly, its not a "pitbull" users type issue; I've used everything from Stellar, Ag_UF, Discord, Pitbull, etc... many of those frames implemented something that removed extraneous tedium.

Also, is there any reason that positioning a scaled-up frame becomes impossible to do with mouse dragging? When I scale frames up I have to try and get the frame into the general area I want it in then move it into place with the X/Y adjustments.

I put in the highlighter to help with quick tweaks, but to really reduce the issues you're having, I would have to make Stuf layout-based (something most UF mods are nowadays). Layout-based makes elements depend on other elements. This also forces users to use a preset layout, download another, or make one of their own editing a text file. In Stuf, every element is independent of each other except to the base frame, which gives much freedom in customization.

I just mentioned Pitbull cause its users think it's superior in general and would only want more, nothing specific.

Please let me what should be made into a global option. I would make a whole lot of things global for myself, but I have to consider what the users MIGHT want. I also tried to reduce the tedium by making most units copy each other's settings, which I thought many people would not like.

Anyway, I haven't tested the combination of scaling and dragging, so I'll look into that. I have some idea already.

I.
love.
that.
option.

After a great deal of time spent fiddling with options and everything, and after all frames are configured properly this is a much better unitframe mod than pretty much everything I've put a great deal of time into configuring. Its great how it is - just like you mentioned, various global options or choices to override a global option are really nice additions. The mod itself doesn't need them to be functional at all, it just removes tedium that comes with setting every single option.

The scaling and movement is crazy though. The frames are drag-able but when you let go of the mouse button they seem to default to some type of anchor and move themselves there.

In Stuf v3.0.004, the dragging issue should be fixed. I also enabled the dispell icon for warlocks, but it's untested. Enjoy.

That's also what I was talking about. >.>

It's just when leading a raid/group it's nice to be able to tell at glance what is (or isn't happening).

Now I guess I'll try to work on a VH patch.... once I get a little more time.

IMO this was good thinking. I use ABF for names etc, and Friz Quadrata TT for numbers.

FWIW, I'm a former Pitbull user and I think your frames are an excellent replacement. They have all the configuration I want (close enough anyway). Don't sell it short.

Ok, having an issue where combat text disappears after changing the font size.

The combat text frame must be large enough to fit the new font size; increasing the height will most likely fix this. I'll add a check to do this automatically in the next release.

@Harwel - Thanks!

It seems I could not explain well enough what I really meant... When I suggested to add some global options to certain settings, I didn't mean they should be restrictive and be removed from the frame-specific settings!

What I really meant was to add a global setting to certain parameters (such as font face) to kind of initialize some commons parameters in all frames. I for example use the Calibri font everywhere, and would welcome a global setting for this.

I think that even in your case, Harwel, it would be beneficial to "initialize" all text to Friz Quadrata TT, then change the font to ABF in case of names, you would spare setting a few font types.

But its just a very minor, not important suggestion, and I use StUF happily without it.

Well, I for one like it very much, I think it is an excellent idea. If one wants to customise everything, there are other unitframe addons for that.

hey I think I found a bug in the german client, dont know if this happens in the other languages too but, sometimes in pvp when u killed a player,
and target him after he respawns the addon displays the hitpoints the target had when he died before...

f.e. it shows -2658/17555 when u target him after he respawns.
but when u attack him again after the first hit it shows the correct hitpoints.

and an improvement I think would be an Option to "copy settings from" in each setting....

but anyway keep up the good work, rly like the UF

here is a screenshot from my settings with other addons (spent ALOT of time in it to^^)
