Summary:
DamageMeters monitors damage and healing done by and to yourself and other nearby players. It keeps a running total for each player and displays the information as a bars chart in a frame on the screen. It is perfect for real-time comparison of the various members of your party or raid. At any time the text results can be output as "says", to raid or party chat, or whispered to another player. Many console commands exist for customizing the meters: type "/dm help" for a listing.

FAQ:

Q: Why the "-AL"?
A: Dandelion, the orig author, has retired from WoW. AnduinLothar (me) modified v5.0.0 from Cosmos because that version works with English, German and French clients. AnduinLothar has no long term plans to enhance functionality and would gladly hand over maintenance to someone else, but decided DamageMeters had a large enough user base that it deserved to be updated to use the 1.12 addon communication API.

Q: MY DM WINDOW DISSAPPEARED!
A: Use "/dm resetpos". This should make the DM frame visible and put it against the right side of the screen.

Q: What happened to the "Reset Each Combat" option?
A: It was made irrelevant. DamageMeters now keeps in essence two full sets of information: one normal, and one set that applies only to the latest fight. This second set, the Fight set, is what provides the information for the DPS, HPS, DTPS, and HTPS quantities. Those quantities are basically the normal quantities but divided by the duration of the fight. If you turn off the "Visible Quantity\Show Fight Data As Per/Second" option you have what is in essence the same thing as what you had before with the "Reset Each Combat" option.

Q: Why can't DM just automatically sync?
A: v5.1.0 has a BETA auto-sync option. This will sync when you lave combat once every three (3) minutes. In previous versions this was left out for the following reasons: Primarily because sync'ing takes a long time. There is just a lot of data to transmit, and since WoW likes to boot clients that send data too quickly DM transmits it slowly. If you are having problems with frame lag or being disconnected randomly you should disable auto-sync and do it manually after boss fights.

While the new version with the addon channel communication is nice, this breaks DamageMetersFu.

I hacked up a version of FuBar_DamagemetersFu which should work with AL's DamageMeters:
FuBar_DMFu_9016.zip
Its not backwards compatible with old DM versions. Also since the new DM doesn't seem to be collecting any data for me, I can't really test..however the code should be fine, and I'm getting no errors.

Anyone else seeing this:


What are the two bars above the DM frame?

Another thing, tested for a bit on my Rogue with default settings and no prior Saved Variables. Doesn't appear to be showing any data.

Does this new DM not work at all if you are solo?

Sorry bout that devla, the 1.12 saved variable changes haunt me still. It was nilling all the defaults, including some debug. It should be fixed now.

Hey Devla, using DMAL 5.1.1 and your FBDM fix, I get this error:

...\DamageMetersFu.lua:223: attempt to index field `rankTable' (a nil value)

The version changing is causing the problems, try this:

FuBar_DMFu_9016.zip

Edit: Updated and removed all the version code. Should work with all versions 4.3.x and above.

Had a problem with syncs with the raid last night with people using normal damage meters. Does everyone need this mod in particular or I am missing something?

It uses the new SendAddonMessage function instead of the Chat Channels the old version uses.

Basically you can't sync with people using the original DM.

Personally I'm trying to recruit a couple people in my guild to help me test this version before I recommend it to everyone, since even AL said some of the new features are untested.

The sync works just fine, it's just the auto-sync that hasn't been tested enough. Basicly I don't know if it syncs too much or if it causes too much fps lag. I actually ran it in a 40 man bwl/ony yesterday and two other people were using it. It worked just fine and I noticed less fps lag than with 5.0.0 when syncing.

You just never know with 40 people sending 40+ msgs untill you try it.

and you are right it has an enormous user base i don't know many guilds who run raids without it.

Exact same thing on my rogue as Devla. No damage readout, two bars above.

Edit: I'm not sure what the problem was, but I installed DamageMeters AL on my other computer and it worked fine. I copied over: \SavedVariables\DamageMeters.lua from the working computer to the glitched and everything was great. Makes me wish I'd saved the glitched file to see where the problem actually was. Either way, works great now. Thanks so much!
