ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

I picked up this addon for the first time today and I have to say it's quite nice, however, I do notice a big delay with it ie when I move items around in my bags. I can't quickly do it I have to wait roughly 1-2 seconds per item move before it actually appears in the new slot. Is this a known issue? Thanks all!

Erm, ehh to Keeker : "i am probably the most computer illiterate s.o.b. on these forums" + "even I know that you can configure damn near everything in this addon."
Lets dissagree at the latter fore a while and improve the first > open bags > config arkinventory > settings > window > pull width ruler below 6, cant ? > edit ArkInventory.lua > line 133 col 18 > that 's what a programmer call's "Hard Coded"
For now > leave ruler at 6 > play with padding ruler > the area wherin it moves > do y think this area adds to the addon or functionality ?
For phun > unload arkinventory > load Bagnon > read my previous post again > join me with "Howling at the Moon" at the estate (room needed on screen) setup of this better addon.

atm, LDB is the only way, and that only tracks one. not the best i know, but looking at alternatives. not a high priority though.

if you mean how many stacks/remaining you have you can only see that information for the current tab when you are at the vault.

normal. theres an inbuilt "bucket" that catches all item moves/changes within a 0.5 second period for bags/bank and 1.5 for the vault and then updates. its a tradeoff between cpu/memory use and useability.

if you want to you can manually edit the arkinventory.lua file (line 1650) and change the bucket value and see if its acceptable for you. change the 0.5 to 0.25 (or whatever value works for you)

i may make this an option at some point so people can change it to suit themselves.

What I'm looking for is the tab info / message / guild rules that you can see when using the default bank view, while at the bank.

ah, ok. they werent there before (i havent looked at an original vault window for a long time). i'll have a look at the API and see if i can pull the data into the AI window.

First of all I want to thank you for this addon; I'm using it for years now and I love it.

Today I used Fubar Performance for CPU profiling. Now when I'm out of combat the addon doesn't take cpu time, but when I checked in combat I got this:

Not even the addons that parse the combatlog (bossmods) or the unitframes and so on take nearly thise huge amount of cpu time. Are you using lots of onupdate or what is the matter of this? Any events hooked that shouldn't better be hooked while in combat?

disable every other single ace based mod youve got, or ensure that AI is loaded last (set the addonloader option) so that the ace libraries are not allocated to AI but to whatever ace based mod is loaded first.

run it again and see if that makes a difference. just dont blame the other mod either. alternatively load the ace libraries as a standalone mod.

there is nothing done differently in combat vs out of combat - of course ammo (especially for hunters) and items used in combat will cause it do a scan but scans are minimal, youd only use more if you had the bag window open while in combat and even then its not really that bad.

Well yes that's a good point, I now remember that performance fu counts the acelibs to the addon that loaded them. I'll try again; thanks for the reply.

What do you mean with "(set the addonloader option)"?

AI is AddonLoader aware. if you get that mod then it can make load AI last, or however/whenever you want.

Is there supposed to be a variables file for each character or do they all run off the same one?

Seems to be doing the latter for me and it's quite annoying.

saved variables file is global, the data is isolated to realms, use profiles to isolate user settings.

There is an issue with the money LDB plugin. When I attempt to adjust the x/y positions, it's changing it's height/width rather than it's position.

any options are up to the display mod because there are none via AI.

all the AI LDBs are very very basic, they either generate a tooltip or a menu, thats it.
