    Track Warcraft - PUG Checking

    This lets you quickly look up statistics from the Armory about any character, including average item level, achievements, and dungeon clears on TrackWarcraft.com. You can instantly look up every character in /who, your party, or raid at once! The AddOn also provides quick right-click access to look up any character, which is great for finding stats on characters with odd symbols in their names.

    A more detailed description of the AddOn is available on our blog.

    v1.3: Updated for the new Raid Browser

    v1.2: Updated for patch 3.3

    v1.1: Added multi-character look up for your Raid or group. When you're in a raid or party, open the Raid window, and click the "look up on trackwarcraft" button at the top.

    v1.0: Initial release! :) Includes right-click on a character's name in chat to look them up, /LFG multi-character lookup and /who multi-character look up.

    but the actual site looks like a lower quality ripoff of http://www.pugchecker.com

    Trackwarcraft.com is very well designed and doesn't have any ads. That pug site on the other hand uses Clickbank. I'll never understand how some site designers can be so smart and yet not know a thing about computer security much less research the ad companies they use. /shakes head

    There are several similar sites, including beimba, wowheroes, pugchecker, etc.

    TrackWarcraft has a few features that I haven't seen anywhere else:
    1. multi-character look up - with the addon you can instantly look up stats on everyone in /LFG or your raid. It lets you easily pick out who's geared enough. Other sites I've seen require you to look up each character individually, which takes a lot of time if there are 20 people in /LFG and you're looking for the best geared. Here's an example multi-character lookup.
    2. rss/atom feed of a character - you can subscribe to updates (achievements, gear upgrades, new levels, etc) with your favorite feed reader, such as google reader.
    3. speed - all of the armory requests are parallelized, so it should be fast, even if you look up 5 characters at once. The site runs on google app engine, so it's distributed and should be reliable.

    Pay attention to the screenshot. I use Firefox along with a host file. I had to unblock the ad in order to see it. Normally, I see *no* ads on the net and I don't need a browser plugin to do it.

    Using what you term a "properly" set up web browser that blocks ads doesn't equal that a site doesn't have ads. Some people prefer to NOT support sites that allow or don't at least take the time to block unwanted advertisers from targeting their audiences. Some users aren't hip enough to "properly" set up a web browser and will see the ads regardless. Some users WANT to see ads (perhaps they're insane). The poster was merely saying that not only are there ads on the site, but it is through an advertising company that is notorious for bad advertising practices. S/he is correct on both counts. However, trackwarcraft.com does have Google ads, but I think the OP was referring to gold ads specifically, which I haven't seen on the Google ads part of trackwarcraft.com.

    As a web designer I do know how time-consuming it can be to work with advertising providers to ensure the ads they are providing aren't offensive, but in a community like the Warcraft one, that time is time well spent.
