What is it? - Simple enemy unit frames for Arena matches used for identifying and coordinating targets

Features:


- Unit tracking via mouse over, target, party targets, death messages, name plate updates, and optional syncing between all teammates
- Main Assist setting and syncing, shown by yellow outline on current Main Assist target.
- Optional New Enemy, Low Health, Death, and Aura announcements via Chat, Party, RaidWarning, SCT, or MSBT.
- Optional Focus setting via right click.
- Optional Mana bars.
- Optional Party Targets.
- Optional Race Icons.
- Optional Aura tracking.
- Optional Cast bars.
- Optional Talent Guessing.
- Optional Battle Ground Support.
- Minor frame customizations: size, font, texture, header, etc...


For Spells, give the spell name just like you would in a macro. Example: Dispel, Dispel(Rank 1)
For Macros, use ; to break lines and *t to insert the targets name. Example: /target *t;/cast Dispel

Where did it come from? - After using ArenaMaster for a long time, I decided to make my own Arena based mod based on some ideas from myself and friends.

How do I use it? - Unzip Proximo into your interface\addons directory. For more info on installing, please read install.txt. Type /prox test to see a test frame when not in arena. Alt+left click header to move. Right click header for options.

What happens if an enemy is first seen after combat starts? - They will still be shown and synced, however you will not be able to target them by clicking on their bar. This will be designated with **'s around their name (ex. ** Grayhoof ** ).

Beta 2.43 - Added Death Knights to unit handling
Beta 2.42 - Updates to allow extract tracking of Auras times and optional tracking of PvP Trinkets.
Beta 2.4 - Many updates to take advantage of the 3.0 arena id's. Arena enemies can now always be targeted/clicked regardless of when they are first seen.
2.32 - Fixes for 3.0
2.31 - Updates for 3.0 patch (not tested very well)
2.3 - Added New "Use in Battlegrounds" option. It basically just becomes a "last 5 targets" unit frame for self only, and doesn't sync with other users. Added new talents using TalentGuess-1.0. Provides talents as best as possible based on comblog events and buffs. Converted to using ShareMedia Widgets for Ace3. Added Frost Nova to tracked auras. Fix for highlighted frames staying after leaving and re-entering an arena. Register SML callbacks correctly.
2.2 - Converted Auras to use spellid. Fixed Profile copies/changes. Removed unneeded locals. Convert to LibShareMedia-3.0.
2.1 - Fix for combat log names. Added optional cast bars. Cast bars for your focus and target will be accurate, while others are only approximations. Options for cast bar: color, size, font size, time. Made more of the frame clickable, besides just the health bar. Converted to quicker combat log method. Gave main frame a name

I'm so glad you decided to take a project like this on, Grayhoof. If I could make a recommendation, I'd check out ArenaUnitFrames. It has some really useful features that convinced me to switch to it from ArenaMaster. I think all of these items are detected through normal mechanisms and then communicated to all party members.
  • Below each name, it shows 4 buffs and 4 debuffs for every opponent.
  • Below that, it shows who that opponent is targeting. This makes it really easy to see who they are focus-firing on.
  • And below that, it shows a casting bar for that opponent, which is amazingly valuable.
  • The class icons switch to a CC icon when crowd-controlled, for example a sheep icon when polymorphed.
Another idea that I think would be really powerful is to have a click or binding for a leader to broadcast "DPS target Grayhoof! (Target #3)", which would then show up as prominent SCT message. If there were keybindings based on the order of the targets, a message like "Target #3" would make it extremely easy to coordinate and switch focus fire.

Click-casting support via Clique would also be very nice, especially for classes that DOT.

P.S. The author of ArenaUnitFrames is quitting WoW, so a similar add-on could be especially timely.

I don't think Click casting is really possible, as the frames don't have any static unit. They are tracked by raid targets and mouseover so that means the frames are created by name and not units

Hmm. AUF does allow you to click the faux unit frame to target as long as the enemy is seen before combat begins, but I'm not exactly sure of the mechanism it uses. But you're probably right that it does not use a normal unit-association frame attribute. That said, without knowing more about how it works, I wouldn't rule out click-casting.

Tested Proximo for the first time tonight in 3v3 and it works great so far, keep up the great work!

However I did get a lot of LUA errors when I had nameplates enabled. Unfortunately, i didnt get a chance to write down or screenshot the errors.
I use "Name Plates Modifier" (and its PVP plugin) by Shadowd ( http://www.wowinterface.com/download...smodifier.html ), so I'm guessing there's some sort of conflict.

I was also getting occational errors from Natur Enemy Cast Bar by Naturfreund ( http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fo.php?id=6616 ), but I'm not sure if they were related.

Sorry that this information isnt more helpful, but perhaps it could be looked into if anyone else uses Proximo with NPM, NP PVP and NECB and get the same error.

My guess is it simply sets the frame attribute to macrotext and sets the macro to "/target UnitName". I don't believe click casting would be possible like this though with other click casting addons. It could be built in though by setting the right click attribute to, say, "/cast [target=PlayerName] Counterspell" now that you can use names in [target=]

This addon is very useful and looks good either, but i faced with one problem. Any chance to disable standard blizzard arena frames? Perpaps this question is nooby, but i still can't swith them off.

There are no "standard Blizzard arena frames", at least not that have ever appeared on my screen... are you sure you're not using another addon that provides unit frames?

I meant not "standard Blizzard arena frames", but standard blizzard arena information (appeared during arena combats) - sorry for my mistake.

This addon definitely seems better than ArenaMaster but it would be great if it could synchronize with ArenaMaster and Nurfed_Arena. Thanks!

hello, first of all i <3 this addon. its very useful and informative.

but the main and only disadvantage is absense of ability to use mouse-over macroses.

this becomes very useful, when you need to nuke selected target, but meanwhile kill totem w/ ice lance and cast CS on healer.

but anyway thanks and thanks in advance for future improvement

Mouseover functionality in Proximo is not possible with the way unit addons have to work now and how Proximo has to work to display all arena enemies.

key bindings?

Is there any way to bind keystrokes to targetting different enemies?

As dps it'd be incredibly useful to be able to, say, bind F1-F5 to target 1-5 on the enemy list, for fast target switching (assuming they've been picked up out of combat)

[To expound upon what the poster above me said and to add my own tidbits, I'd like to see:

1) An option to hide the class icons (I think they're unnecessary it's very easy recognize a class but it's color). I also think it's unnecessary to switch them to CC icons since viewing those is what a debuff window would be used for.

2) A debuff monitor (buff option could be included but I don't think it's needed either) for your enemies. This would have options for placement: left, right, top, bottom, and hidden.

3) Target of Target for opponents (also with options on where to display them) as well as casting bars, both with the option to be hidden.

4) Right click casting to distinguish ranks (i.e. Polymorph(Rank 1) actually using rank 1 instead of make rank) if this is possible.

My main issue with ArenaUnitFrames is apparently "You must mouseover/target your opponents prior to entering combat in order for the unit frames to target your opponents when clicked." I haven't used this addon but this alone deters me from doing so. Also, please keep your addon looking similar to how it looks now, ArenaUnitFrames is ugly
