Satrina Buff Frames 3  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 3.1.25
by: Satrina, father0fnine

SBF has a maintainer!
I have to say, I am amazed by the number of people who just kept plugging along. It makes me feel bad that I do not have the time to keep working on this myself - you guys are all awesome! The good news is that a new maintainer has been found. Meet father0fnine, who is taking over SBF. I'm sure you'll all show him as much love as you showed me all these years

* ha filters should behave a little bit better now
* Vehicle buff frames will update and clear when you exit a vehicle

* Added vehicle to the list of units for buff frames on the general tab

SBF 3.0 beta begins! Thank you in advance to everyone who grabs this and helps to make SBF even better

I wanted to get this into your hands before 3.0 goes live to play with, but be warned that this is beta zero - which means basically just out of alpha. It's been very stable for me, but you guys have a real talent for configuring it in ways that make it go boom Have at and let's get this thing stable.

Please take a moment to read over the notes on the Addon Info page, particularly the requested feedback stuff.

There are a few known issues, also listed on the Addon Info page.

Beta 1 should come tomorrow night (Tuesday 8 October) with fixes for most of the simple stuff, and totems I hope.

Raidbuffs

Hi,

about your point2 in showing other members buffs.
I guess you are right - raid1-raid25 is (from my point of view) not helpfull.
I even don't need party1-party4 since in a party environmet I'v no need for this (I have unit frames where I can see it).
But in Raid I normally work with grid (party hidden) there it could help for group buffs - so ok for p1-p4.

What instead of r1-r25 would be very helpfull is support for MT-targets, and (maybe) player targets.
This can't be done with r1-r25 (or only very hard) since we move our tanks depending on the raid situation.
Simple sample - the druid tank is in the melee group, but at Illidan we move him to another group for the paladins fire protection.

So setting MTx buffs / debuffs could help a lot.
--So I could see - MTx is affected by effect ZZZ.
--Or MTx is missing the buff YYY.

This is just an idea, but from my point of view it could help a lot.

-----------
The rest is really nice to read.
Especially Target buffs - so I can (using filters) easily see if my bleeding is up, what's the matter with poisons and so on.
I have a unit frame for the target - of course.
But finding your bleed within 30 other debuffs is pretty hard sometimes.
So your addon can make the life much easier for such cases.

Most raid frames are quite capable when it comes to quick buff overviews. I could understand if someone really did want a completely custom look/feel though.

In the end, if you can't decide, throw the headers into a module and call it good. I wouldn't want to set up a full 40-man raidbuff display, but someone else might be crazy enough to try it.

Suggestion for timer format:

I like the way OmniCC shows times. Over 60 seconds it shows "5m", "2h", or "1d" just like the Blizzard format, but without the useless space (I actually have a personal "collection of random stuff" addon that removes the spaces from the Blizzard global strings for time formats). Under 60 seconds it just shows the seconds, without the "s", like "37". I find this makes it easier to notice that it's about to expire, as well as being just generally cleaner.

Phanx - I like that timer format - it shall be done =)

Taroven - Yeah, it costs nothing more than a bunch of elements in a table to add the raid stuff. I ultimately may put them at the bottom of the list and 99.5% of people will never scroll it down.

ManniAT - Missing buff is something I've had in mind yep. Maintank should go on the list as well.

I think ultimately I'd like to do unit buffs and debuffs via filters when I do the filter changes. Something like:

Code:
target[buffs frame 3,debuffs frame 4,castable frame 5,mine frame 6]
which would put my target's buffs in frame 3, all debuffs in frame 4, debuffs that are castable by me in frame 5, and debuffs that I did actually cast in frame 6. Obviously most people wouldn't do all of those at the same time!

You then can get into things like
Code:
mt1[has debuff 'stomp' frame 3, has debuff 'meteor slash' frame 3]
Player filters would change something like this:

Code:
3:D>20      => player[buff duration > 20m frame 3]
4:a         => player[buff untilcancelled frame 4]
6:h&r<20    => player[debuff remaining < 20s frame 6]
3:n~elixir  => player[buff name has 'elixir' frame 3]
It all depends on being able to get a parser for that style of filter description working efficiently. I definitely want to make it less obscure

I put Beta 1 up now that the server's been shut down. Should fix a few of the more glaring problems, like ButtonFacade. I haven't actually tested BF with 3.0 yet.

Server was shut down while I was working on totems. Totems appear in SBF correctly now, but I need to do more work for out of range and such.

Don't try to run SBF 3.0 on live servers, it's for WoW 3.0.

Beta 2 is up!
- Added new timer formats
- Very early and basic work on sticky frames
- Buff expiration warnings all work correctly now
- Stability fixes

Sticky frames is very early, very beta functionality. SBF will happily allow you to sticky frame 2 to frame 1 and then frame 1 to frame 2, which will make things go boom. Feedback on its operation and oddities with it working is very welcome.

Three issues I see, one minor, and one might not be an issue (though it is for me).

Firstly, when you go into the options window and then close out of it, all buffs stop being displayed until you gain or lose a buff. Not a major issue.

Secondly, while you can change the colour of bars for debuffs, you can't change the colour of names for debuffs. As I dont like bars for buffs and I show everything on one buff frame, I would love to be able to have debuff names show in a different colour to buffs.

This is really shaping up to be an awesome buff frame. Thank you.

Just found something else. Even though I have "Auras have max time" checked, and I am sorting my buffs by descending time, Auras appear at the bottom of the buff list. Not a huge deal.

Update: I have found when I log in I need to open /sbf options, close it and then cast a buff on myself to get the buff window displaying.

Quick question about that... Are you using Buttonfacade? I have a similar issue with the latest Autobar addon for 3.0.2 when using buttonfacade to skin it.
Just wondering, and trying to get some more potential info for Satrina to have available.
