KaitUI  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.4
by: Kaitain1977 [More]

The only resolution that is supported is 1920x1080. Most other resolutions should still work, but I can't guarantee it. You may have to adjust the layout a bit yourself.

If you have a very large monitor, you might want to try adding the UIScaler addon (this addon was included in 1.1, removed in 1.2).

LEGION: as most classes changed a lot, a lot of the rotational WeakAuras stuff is out-of-date. I've no plans to redo these for this UI. My advice would be to delete any WeakAuras that don't work, and just use your own, or get some from elsewhere on the internet. Loads of people make excellent WeakAuras class sets available for download these days.

As WeakAuras is part of the UI upload, updating the UI with new versions will overwrite any WeakAuras you made yourself. As such, make sure you backup the export strings of cool things you add (this is good idea anyways, as WeakAuras has been known to crash out and kill off it's saved variables on rare occasions).

KaitUI is beer-powered. If it runs out of beer, it stops working.

Cheers!

Step 1

Backup your current UI. Do this by opening your WoW folder and moving the Fonts, Interface and WTF folder to a safe place elsewhere on your hard drive. If things go wrong later, put these folders back into your WoW folder and all will be as it was.

Step 2

Unzip the download and move the Fonts, Interface and WTF folder into your WoW folder

Step 3

Inside the WTF folder you will find folders that are name WTF > Account > ACCOUNTNAME > SavedVariables. Rename the folder called ACCOUNTNAME to be whatever your account name is. If you are unsure what to name it, check the folders that you backed up in Step 1.

Step 4

Start WoW. On the character selection screen, click the Addons button in the bottom left, then in the top right of the panel that pops up make sure that Load out of date AddOns is checked. Make sure ALL addons in the list are enabled (not having them all enabled can cause a clusterfuck of errors). Click OK then Enter World.

Step 5

Once you are in the game, type

/kaitinstall

After you recieve the message "Success! All profiles installed. You now need to type /reload" in chat, type

/reload

and hit enter.

Step 6

Chat windows. As far as I understand it, even though you will now be using the correct Chatter profile, the actual config of your chat windows (i.e. what channels are shown in what windows, etc) is held on the servers, not locally. So you will have to do set up the chat windows to be in the correct place yourselves. The way I have it set up is so that all player communication comes into the main chat window on the bottom left, the combat log is a tab of that main window, and there is another window on the bottom right with all spamming chat channels like /1, /2, NPC comments, loot info, etc. You can use the Chatter settings to make this window right justified if it isn't already.

To use the "BIG Trade channel" function in the UI, you will need to make a big trade chat window that is the 4th of your chat windows. It needs to have a frame name of "ChatFrame4". You cannot name the frame yourself, hence it needing to be the 4th chat window. You can check the names of frames by typing /fstack and then moving your mouse over the frame. One of the screenshots shows this big trade chat window so you can see what it should look like

Step 7

Keybindings. I use the main action bar purely as a reference for (non rotation) cooldowns, and have a few other bars for keybinds. These other bars are set to only show on mouseover and are hidden directly above the right hand chat frame. Having said that, feel free to set up the action bars however you want.

List of Addons used:

(Addons with a orange name have been editted by me and therefore if you update them, the edits will get overwritten. So don't update those ones, wait for an update of the KaitUI versions)

KNOWN ISSUES:

- The player and pet models on the talents panel only load the 2nd time you press the button. Can anyone look at the auras and figure out why this is?

- When changing Grid profiles with the popup menu, sometimes the raid frames disappear until something happens to update them again (like a roster change or I think even maybe just a status change of any sort). A /reload brings it back too, but ideally if I could add a function call to Grid in the profile switch script to refresh it, then that would be ideal.

- If you switch Grid profiles when not in a grp, you sometimes will get a raid frame for yourself even if Solo layout is set to: none. /reload fixes it.

- Grid frames sometimes move out of place a bit. /grid > Layout tab > frame lock, unlock the frames then move them

- SLDT data texts moves sometimes. I think that's a bug in SLDT, I have a kgpanels script to try to fix it on reload/entering-world, but it doesn't always work. I won't be using SLDT in my next UI, too old too broken.

- Some of the 3D WeakAuras effects are slightly out of place (a pixel off here and there). However, there appears to be a bug in repositioning these 3D models in that the preview while you move it doesn't correctly show where the model will be when triggered. As such, fixing all the little problems will takes more time than I have at the moment.

- If you switch Grid profiles when mid combat in a raid it often doesn't work until reload. I think that's a grid issue. Best practice it to just choose the right profile before you enter the raid (especially in situations like LFR when you can often never go out of combat)

- The Rollover micromenu currently doesn't exclude the appropriate options at low levels (when they aren't available yet). I hope to put this in soon.

- No Boss timers yet. Just add your own.

1.2 - Added a new action Bar below the main bar (this was often requested). Changed the layout so that quest tracking is not back on the right, DPSer raid frames on the left. This was so I could remove the code making the minimap hiding and raid frames interact. My code was buggy and crap, and now it's gone. Hurray! UIscaler addon removed because it seemed to not be working anymore.

1.1 - Updated for patch 6.1. Some addons updated, some TOCs updated, some WeakAuras changes and updates

1.0.2 - Changed scripts in KaitMedia addon and in kgPanels that relate to Grid so that (hopefully) nothing freaks out too badly if you don't have Grid installed (i.e. if you want to use a different raid addon). The popup panels for changing Grid profiles won't do anything for you without Grid, but at least they aren't going to cause errors. Uou need Grid enabled to run /kaitinstall. Install the profiles then switch your raid addon afterwards.

1.0.1 - Updated KaitMedia script to fix a non-English client bug. Updated some kgPanels scripts to fix a non-English client bug. Added Clampy's focus bar WeakAura for hunters. Stopped Party Frames (P) button from causing error when not in a group.

1.0 - Updated some kgPanels scripts. Added some new WeakAuras bars for moonkin and demon warlock. Added some graphics to the KaitMedia folders. Changed the KaitInstaller script. Removed Opie, Bindpad and Dominos, and added Bartender4.

0.7.1 - Updated some kgPanels scripts to cause less lua errors

Did you type the / ? Other than that, I can't really help. I stopped playing WoW about a year ago (lost job, couldn't afford the sub).

The current state of the UI is that if you are experienced with tinkerring with addons, you should have no trouble updating (or deactivating) any addons that 7.2 broke. Hence me keeping the page up. But if you need an out-of-the-box UI, this isn't it I'm afraid. Sorry.

Is there a way to change fonts? I'm not a fan of the current font bundled with the UI?

No worries, quick question though: What is controlling the gold info panel? I can see a bunch of your character and I'm trying to reset the info but can't figure out the addon/hotkey to reset it.

The first is simply an outdated kuiNameplates. Update and you're fine. Standard stuff.

The second was trickier as I know very little about Lua. The error mentioned FriendsMicroButton so I googled that and the recent patch 7.1. Turns out Blizz renamed this to QuickJoinToastButton. the error also mentioned kgpanel. I checked the kgPanel.lua in the addons folder for FriendsMicroButton, no dice. The file you want is at WTF/youraccountname/SavedVariables/kgPanel.lua. Find and replace FriendsMicroButton with QuickJoinToastButton and you're golden. (I use Notepad++ to edit files like these)

I know this sounds like a lot but its just copy and pasting.

Start the game and open weakauras up and start importing all the auras from the notepad file from the original kaitui. Once you do this you can open up masque and set masque to adjust what you want it to.

There was just custom code in these files forcing masque to use kait pixelimperfect look to everything. And it just did not look right with my weak auras.

I love this UI a lot just had to adjust it to my tastes. Thanks Kait for such a great UI.

Hi costomojin,

the error looks like you need to update KuiNameplaes addon maybe?

You can't use Masque to skin WeakAuras, it can only be done by replacing the actual icons in the way that "addons" like this do: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...cons-Thin.html (it's not an addon really, it's just icon files that replace the default ones)
Maybe skin was the wrong word. masque has several different visual weak auras lets say for icons. however i cant change them using your ui.
i know elvui has an option to let masque take back control of the weak aura icon instead of overriding it to the elvui version.
the pic below is lui, and the round eat weak aura is masque/trinity. I just dont know why your ui will not let me chose a different masque for weak auras.

Here is a pic from elvui where you have to uncheck weakauras in order for masque to work on weak auras or elvui will override masque. I found a file called KaitMasque.lua, is this possibly causing an issue by forcing the kait pixel imperfect look? just wondering since this is the default for weakauras in masque.

Also how do i move the boss debuffs. the ursoc rend flesh and overwhelm debuffs where in a bad location and i would like to move them.
