Bongos2  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.10.1
by: Tuller [More]

I have written a new action bar addon, called Dominos, and am no longer supporting this one. Please feel free to try it out, along with Trinity Bars, and Bartender 3

Bongos is an action bar replacement designed to be both low memory, and easy to setup. It is not as feature rich as other bar mods, but should include the features most commonly used.

Version History
A Brief Guide

Included Addons

  • Bongos2: The core addon.
  • Bongos2 ActionBar: Breaks up the main action bar into movable parts
  • Bongos2 Stats: A display for latency, framerate, and memory usage
  • Bongos2 RollBar: Makes the frame for rolling on items movable
  • Bongos2 CastBar: A movable casting bar, with the ability to show cast time
  • Bongos2 XP: A movable experience bar
  • Bongos2 MapBar: A movable mapbar
  • Bongos2 Options: A dynamically loaded options menu for Bongos

Features
  • Every Bongos bar can be moved, hidden, and have its scale and opacity altered
  • Sticky bars - Each bar can be anchored to any other bar
  • 120 action buttons, which can be setup in any number of bars
  • Both macro and key binding text on action buttons can be hidden
  • Customizable stance transitions for each bar

General Settings
  • To bring up the options menu: type /bongos menu
  • To unlock bars: uncheck the lock bars option in the main options menu
  • To hide or show a bar: unlock bars, then middle click or shift right click it
  • To move a bar: unlock bars, and then click and drag it with the left mouse button
  • To bring up a bar's configuration menu, right click it

Key Bindings
  • Bindings for the Bongos action bar should only be done via the bindings menu in Bongos
  • To bind keys, open the main options panel, and select the bindings option. Hover over a button, then press a key to bind it to that button

Action Bar Settings
  • Accessing general action bar options: open up the main options window (/bongos menu) and select the action bars panel
  • Adjusting the layout of a given bar: unlock bars and right click the bar you want to adjust to bring up its configuration menu
  • Moving buttons: Hold down the key for moving buttons (shift by default), and drag a button. Alternatively, unlock button positions by shift right clicking the mini map button, or unchecking the option in the main options menu
  • Making a bar bigger: You can increase the maximum size of a given bar by reducing the number of action bars. To do so, adjust the action bars slider on the action bar panel of the main options menu. This option will reset the settings of your action bars

Stances and Paging
  • Stances and paging are configured via a bar's right click menu. With bars unlocked, right click the bar you want to change,

Slash Commands
  • All commands start with either /bongos, /bob, or /bgs
  • <barList> can have a possible value of an actionbar number, menu, bags, pet. class, or all
  • You can also specify a group or range of bars, the command /bo scale 1-3 class 1.2 will scale action bars 1 2 3, and the class bar to 120% of their normal size.
  • /bongos - Shows the options menu, if present
  • /bongos lock - Toggles locking bars positions
  • /bongos show <barList> - Shows <barList>

Anyway, This is a PTR 2.1 bug report. I've used bongos for, well, since forever, and am very comfortable configuring it on a warrior. This problem persists with all other addons disabled, with a fresh WTF, or importing my working WTF from live.

So, here's what happens when I set up stances (using the default battle = 1 to 7, def =1 to 8, zerk =1 to 9)

battle stance (set to 7) gives me bar 9
defensive stance (set to 8) gives me bar 7
beserker (set to 9) gives me bar 8

At first, I figured blizz may have changed the button numbers mapped to the different stances, or somesuch on the PTR, so I downloaded bartender 3 to attempt to confirm it. However, bartender3 worked fine, which really freaked me out, as it appears to use a very similar system for switching.

So, figuring I could outsmart it, I decided to it was offsetting everything by one lower, and I set my bars accordingly, and it appeared to work (set battlestance 8, zerk stance 7, and def stance 9, which would then make bar 7 appear for Battle, 8 for def, and 9 for zerk, as per default).

As I said, this made all the right skills and icons come up, and even the proper tooltips. However, when I actually ended up in combat, what looked like charge, was actually shield block, and what looked like intercept was actually overpower. So, even though I had the right buttons showing, and the proper tooltips, it was actually trying to fire abilities based on what I'd actually set up in bongos. So, now I'm totally confused.

Things I tried:
copied the ptr savedvariables over to live to verify it worked there (it did)
cleared my cache/wdb directory -
cleared the entire wtf directory and started fresh.
cleared all my buttons off my buttonbars, and repopulated from the spellbook.
tried both the 7.5.7 version and the 7.1.5 version.
downloaded the PTR and installed it on my wife's computer, and tried it from her computer.

I really don't get it. I don't understand what they could have changed on the PTR that wouldn't have broken bt3 as well, but there it is.

Anyway, hope this helps when the patch releases.
Bartender3 and Bongos don't run on the same code for switching stances. They switched updating of some stuff to OnAttributeChanged, I think.

default target for action bars ?

Hi
I was just wondering if Bongos supports a default target for an action bar ?
I play a healer class and I want to have an action bar whose spells always have target=mouseover as their default target, so I can just hit the keyboard shortcuts and move my mouse over a player's frame that needs some healing.

Is right-click self-cast removed forever or will it be back?
If forever, then which add-on would you recommend that works better with Bongos?

Bartender3 has a number of self-cast options, including right-click self-cast.

Yup. I'll be looking at reimplementing it in Bongos when I mess around with the 2.1 state header.

Just tried the new version on test. Not sure if any fix for stances was in this release, but stances are still broken on the PTR.

I have bar number raised to 120. Warrior in defensive stance. I make a stance rule State To Switch In: Battle Stance, Bar transition 1 to 12.

Hit battle stance, bar 1 doesn't change. Go back to defensive, and bar 1 changes to bar 12. Completely backwards, and third stance wont work at all if you add rules for it.

Transfer Profiles

This is a great mod, I love using it and find it is easy to work with.

One question I had though, is it possible to transfer profiles between PC's?

I was going to load WoW on another laptop and try it out. It would be ncie if I did not have to remake the whole interface.

Thanks!!!

OK this issue in this post is really annoying. I have used Bongos in the past when was leveling my Rogue and loved it However I have since (aka long ago) switched to playing a Druid. One thing that always annoyed me was the fact that Druids have to devote most of a bar to buttons for actions that done in Prowl (Pounce, Ravage, etc). Thus more buttons cluttering the screen. Then Bartender3 came along that had built into it, an auto switch from your Cat bar to a Prowl bar. Thus I switched. However during this time as Bongos has improved and expanded I have tried it out. However the inability to have an autoswitch from Cat actions to Prowl has frustrated me. I can see that in the Stance tab there is a entry to switch from Cat (Bar 1) to Prowl (Bar 7). However all this does is keep the same Cat bar which is Bar 7. Having the ability to edit this (Prowl: Switch Bar 7 to Bar 8) would extremely handy. I have tried doing this by going the Add menu however, you can select "Prowl" then "To" however there is no field to assign the bar you want to switch to. I have tried entering Bar 8, and then later 8 after "to" in the second field. Is this the design or something not finished? I have tried this with several different builds of Bongos. However until this is explained or a half decent HOWTO or even what line in the lua files I have to edit (yes I can get in and edit .lua if I have to), I will have to use other bar mods that support the Cat -> Prowl either "Out of the Box" or as a "finished" option to edit.

Suddenly my empty buttons in the petbar is showing?!?
I have the settings on 'Show empty buttons' to NOT checked and in all the other bars it is working, and have worked always on the petbar too, but yesterday when I logged in the empty buttons in the petbar where showing.
I also have cycircled (for the cool round buttons :P) and that was updated yesterday, but I can't see that that should interfear with bongos in that manner, at least not just to the petbar...
Pleease what's wrong???

Xinh:

In the add dialog select the state you want. Where it says "bar transition" you see a box with the word "to" in it. There are 2 fields, one on either side of the word, so you specify the start bar and end bar. You should end up with the following assuming the bar numbers from your previous post.

Cat: Switch bar 1 to bar 7
Prowl: Switch bar 1 to bar 8

A small question...

Not to be another Trinity Refugee...but let's face it I am in fact a Trinity Refugee!

Bongos looks to do everything I needed from Trinity except one small thing: I like to be able to arrange buttons in arcs and circles without having to anchor numerous single-button bars. (I.e. not have circles skinned but for the bar to display the buttons in an arc or a circle.) Can Bongos do that? Or, did you have that on your docket for 'in my copious spare time'?

Thanks muchly. :>

Strange occurances.

In your latest version of Bongos, the bar switching feature bugs out too often. I have it setup so that bar 1 switches to bar 3 when I switch to Shadowform.

Bar 1 is under bar 2. They are both 12 buttons wide, 100% opacity and size.
Bar 3 is hidden, one button wide, 0% opacity and 50% size.

Sometimes, bar 2 duplicates itself to bar 1's position.

I get 2 bar 2 and no matter what I do, it never fixes itself until I log off. Even /reload won't fix it. I have resorted to having bar 1 showing up all the time, even in Shadowform.
