AddOnInstaller droplet for Mac OS

Version: 0.9b
by: Alestane [More]

This is an AppleScript droplet that streamlines the process of installing add-ons. Once you have downloaded folders or .zip files containing add-ons, drag and drop them, together or singly, onto this droplet and it will take care of installing them for you. It will also back up older versions of those add-ons into a .zip file in your Interface folder.

This script is still considered a beta-grade product...although most tests and experiences indicate that it is mostly reliable, it may still contain some glitches and is used only at your own risk.

If you do not have WoW installed in the default location, it should prompt you to find the World of Warcraft folder, and remember the location you selected.

0.9b
* Simplified format for archive files of old add-ons to remove needlessly nested folders.

0.8a
* Added support for brand-new WoW installations.

0.6a
* Added support for folders as well as .zip files to support Safari users.

0.5a
* Added alert box explaining usage when you try to run it with no files.

0.3a
* Fixed bug that prevented it from installing new add-ons.

It replaces old addons with new versions admirably on my system...are you sure that it's the old version you still have afterward?

What version of OS X are you running on? What's the path to your WoW install?

Edit: As nearly as I can tell, if the add-ons are in .zip files it can be difficult to tell if it's working or not because the created/modified dates for the folders are preserved in the .zip file. It does however appear to be working in the cases I've checked.

Since it's logical to suppose that many Mac users may be using Safari, I've added what appears to be support for extracted folders in 0.6a; let me know if it works now.

Alestane,

Looking pretty cool... we often have Mac users who do not quite download/install correctly. We have a multi-part AddOn, so they either make a new folder, place the zip into AddOns, et cetera.

Will be sure to give this a test run and happily point users its way. =)

Thank you,

Nikk
