Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

After enjoying STUF on my rogue I started to use it on my other chars too. But as they are casters I'm no looking for Blizzards castbar and can't find it. Also addons like Castbars don't work - the player castbar stays gone. Is there a way to reactivate it with STUF?

STUFs cast indicator on the unit frames is nice for a rogue but a mage needs something separate. Just moving the cast indicator from STUF somewhere else wouldn't help. Reactivating the original castbar so it can be tweaked with addons like castbars would be nice. Did I miss the option somewhere?

I haven't tried Quartz yet which is a bit heavy for my taste (and new versions don't get released anymore).

You can make a normal casting bar with Stuf the way you want if you want. By default, the progress bar, background, border, icon, and time text are invisible. There's also an option for a premade player casting bar.

If you want Blizzard's player casting bar (for your casting), just disable Stuf's player casting bar.

Thanks for the quick answer ... but can't I have both? :-))

I would like to keep the one in the player portrait and have another one from Blizzard/Castbars ... or from STUF ... probably too much, hm?

Is there a way to enable the latency meter on cast bars or do I need to use Quartz (or equiv) for that.

No way currently. At the moment, I'm working on improving cast bars and considering latency if it isn't a burden. People only care for it on player casting bar, right? I also thought that since Blizz started queuing spells that this wasn't needed anymore. I guess, for now, use another casting bar mod.

"If you want Blizzard's player casting bar (for your casting), just disable Stuf's player casting bar."

Now I'm confused ... if I disable Stuf's player casting bar, its disabled for my rogue too ... but I would like to keep it for all non-caster-toons (and, as I said, for all the casters as well). There should be a way to store options per character, but I can't find it. And anyway I wouldn't like it, it would be a terrible hazzle to have to synchronize options for 10 characters just because one feature has to be different.
I need an additional castbar (Blizzards would be best) for the casters. Anybody have an idea?

As for the latency display: Casters need that because they can start their next cast early, if they know when to time it. This is crucial for frost mages shatter-combo. Alternatively they can guess (experience helps) and just spam the next-spell-button. Not everybody likes button-spamming, thats where latency indicators are for. A GCD indicator is very helpful too.

But for the reasons I tried to explain before, I think it would be best to leave the pecularities of caster castbars to special addons and try to make the unit frames in a way that they cooperate with whatever castbar addon the user chooses. That would probably mean to leave the Blizz castbar intact and give a possiblility to just enable/disable it per character.
The cast indicator of STUF would then either have to somehow duplicate the Blizz castbar or have to use another mechanism - and I don't know whether that is possible. I know nothing about lua, I'm just spreading ideas.

I've reinstalled Quartz and it seems to work with STUF. But its a memory hog and probably also heavy on cpu usage and its download page looks slightly abandoned. I would prefer to use one of those small modifications of the blizz castbar.

oufLunar has a similar cast indicator like STUF integrated in its unit frames, but Blizzards castbar is still intact and can be activated or deactivated separately (and be modified by other addons). Maybe you can look at the Lunar frames on this site and see how that was realized.

Save variables per character if you want settings to be different between character. I intentionally disable default casting bar if you use Stuf's for player; sorry, I see no reason otherwise.

Plus, you're still calling Stuf's casting bar an indicator. It's a normal bar with all the information. You can replicate Blizzard's casting bar with Stuf if you want. Go to Player -> Cast Bar -> Premade Player and you can see the normal bar I've made.

Yep just Player for latency. I just started using AzCastBar which seems to be good, but looks like the author is leaving the game.

I noticed there is a VisualHeal module to this. I just came from oUF - is it the same VisualHeal concept as that? Where you can see how much you are going to heal your target before the cast finishes? Ex. Cast Greater Heal and you can see it will overheal your target since the bar goes over the edge.

It would be nice if that could be optional, and I tried to explain why. But it's your addon, and I'm already glad you did all the work, so nevermind.

"Plus, you're still calling Stuf's casting bar an indicator. "
... just to be shure, you understand what I was talking about. English is not my native language. It was just a name to distinguish it from addon castbars which have latency and GCD timers.

Quick note about the target portrait for Hulking Abominations in IceCrown - their "full body" portrait comes up way zoomed in so that it looks like a block of color moving. Haven't seen any other portrait issues yet besides that.

Pet Bar

Thanks for this awesome mod.

Just one little thing - when i enter a vehicle, it shows it's HP/power as the pet bar (which is usually small).

Could there be an option to swap player and pet bar when i enter a vehicle? Or some extra vehicle bar?

Oh and sorry if this was answered before...

For now, all I'm adding is the latency for player casting in the next release. If I start getting requests for stuff like swing timer, GCD, breathe bar, flight timer, time until enrage, boss mods, etc, I'll remove latency.

Yes. You probably found that out by now.

Oh, you want a full featured casting bar and not just default. Look at AzCastBar like Toran mentioned. I'm definitely not adding all that into a UF mod. I can't help that all the cast bar authors leave.

I really cannot control the way Blizz presets their 3D model view.

That's the way it is because of performance reasons (having to constantly check a unit's vehicle status is annoying). Make your pet bar more usable since there are many cases when its vital.
