Action Bar Saver  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2.3.3
by: Shadowed [More]

Quick little mod, allows you to setup different profiles for your action bars. Mainly this is for hybrid classes that want to be able to respec without spending 10-20 minutes setting their action bars up. All you do is type /abs save <name> and it'll save the location of all your spells, macros and items.

For example, if you're currently a Feral Druid you can type /abs save feral then you can respec to Resto and setup your bars, then type /abs save resto once you go respec back to Feral you can then train all your spells again and type /abs restore feral and you'll get your feral setup without all the work of actually finding where you placed things.

Works with any custom interface like Bongos provided you're not using more then the standard 120 action buttons, ones that provided features to go past 120 will cause only the standard 120 to be saved/restored. This isn't a bug however, just a limitation in the WoW API

error

Hello,

I posted a bug report about this mod in the Bug Report section but I haven't seen any response to it so i'm reposting here.

Basically I saved my PvE profile under "fury", respecced and reworked my bars, did not change keybinds or mess with macros. saved the new profile at "pvp" and a few days later respecced back to my previous talent build and tried to /abs restore fury and got this error message.

This is a great addon, but I have one suggestion. Would it be possible to save keybindings also? Or is there another addon that does that?

Great addon

Not going to happen, as it's not really needed since you don't switch profiles around that often (nor is the slash cmd that complicated)

well, I was just going to start making an addon that does this, but I knew it would be a good idea to see if it was already done.

one thing I would like to see added though, is a GUI for the slash commands added to the addon section of the interface options.

Yep works perfectly. I was also able to save a my bars in Bongos, exit the game, relog with rBars enabled instead and it restored just the way I had it.

Saved me a ton of time, thanks and great job.

I got the following error when typing "/abs save beegee" to save my bars using Bongos. I'm using 3 of the bars with 12 buttons each (total 36).

*note: beegee is a random name I used, does you need to use a specific set of names.

*notex2: if you would like error reports elsewhere, just let me know.

error:

Code:

It depends, if Bongos is expanding beyond 120 action buttons then only the first 120 will be restored (API Limitation), but yes it should correctly restore all of the buttons.

I haven't actually tried switching between UF's yet and doing restores, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

Quick Question (may be dumb and/or obvious), If I use Bongos and have this save my action bar settings and then I switch to Bartender 3 and do a restore, will it place all my spells, macros etc on the new bar mods buttons?

You can now use auto save correctly again without it corrupting your profiles.

You will need to set your current profile via /abs restore if you want it to start auto saving to that character

The specific file you want to save is located inside <WoW Path>\WTF\Account\<ACCOUNT NAME>\SavedVariables\ActionBarSaver.lua

Generally if you want to make sure you have all your addons/addon config saved then you want to backup the entire Interface and WTF folders.

Is there a file that needs to be backed up should one be concerned about hard drive crashes or a total reinstall of an operating system? I do a lot of switching UI's around and it would save a lot of time to be able to restore my buttons on the fly. Thanks!

No it means that items you put on your action bar will be correctly saved, before if you had say your PvP trinket on your action bars and it was equipped it wouldn't correctly restore it, now it will.

great update, am I wrong or are you saving items on char also or something? What exactly is up with that?
"Instead of bag scanning, we use PickupItem instead, this also fixes a bug with items that aren't in your bag but are equipped not being restored"
