gmUI

--- About

GmUI is a simple and clean UI for World of Warcraft.
I made it following the idea to use the settings in WTF folder less possible.
This because I usually install this UI on my sons accounts and guildmates.

The addons I have used to make it are:

BugSack
Bazooka
Butsu
gmActionBars
gmAggroMon
gmAutopsy
gmBagsSlots
gmChat
gmDurability
gmEquipSet
gmExp
gmFonts
gmGuildFriends
gmLm
gmLoot
gmMenu
gmMinimap
gmMoney
gmMounts
gmPets
gmProf
gmSay
gmShot
gmSpecs
gmSpeed
gmTweaks
gmVideoSwitch
idTip
Inventorian
NugCast
rButtonTemplate
rButtonTemplate_Gm_sr
rLib
Shadowed Unit Frames

Other buttons theme (instead of rButtonTemplate_Gm_rs):
rButtonTemplate_Gm
rButtonTemplate_Gm_sz
rButtonTemplate_Zork (but with this I think you can't skin the auree in my UI because different naming)

All these addons can be found usually on:
WoWInterface
Curse

--- Install

There are a couple ways to install it.

-- Automatic install (windows only)

The install script can't be upload in this archive, because usually sites like WowInterface and Curse prevents to upload .exe/.cmd files. It is a right policy and I agree with it.

Btw:
I have made a little installer script that backups your old settings and then deploys the new interface: Install-gmUI.cmd .
You exec it, choose your WoW folder, your account profile and the script can automagically deploys the UI for you.
If someone wants to check it: http://files.disturbia-guild.com/gmui is welcome.

-- Manual install

- Backup the directory _retail_\Interface\AddOns then delete it
- Copy the gmUi Addons folder in _retail_\Interface\

The following steps are optionals but I strongly suggests to make them to try the settings of few addons:

- Backup the directory _retail_\WTF\Account\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME\SavedVariables then delete it
- Copy the gmUi SavedVariables folder in _retail_\WTF\Account\YOUR_ACCOUNT_NAME

I have included the settings for some addons:

-- Bazooka (settings for font and textures)
-- gmFonts (change default fonts)
-- Shadowed Unit Frames
-- NugCast

-- Thanks and credits

I'd like to say thanks to all addon's authors and forum users that help me so much in writing my addons and this UI.

The URL parsing code in the chat frame is by: AnduinLothar, Kharthus
https://www.wowinterface.com/downloa...181-ReURL.html

Also I want to say thanks to Theras-Nemesis for the UI textures
--- FAQ & Common Editing

This new version of the UI is planned with the idea to re-use much of the Blizzard code as possible.
Some addons I have used before are not used anymore to reflect the new changes in the 8.2 game version.

Most of UI elements, i.e:

ActionBars
Chat
Minimap

are now managed by some simply addons that only "remove" unwanted elements.

My UI is planned to be use without so many changes by end users and for this reason it is not so easy to customize if you don't want to manage some lua files, but it is not difficult either.
It is planned with the idea that user have to understand the addon world and experiment a little bit with them.

More to follow

900-2020101801
- Used SUF and NugCast to replace Zork's OUF interface that seems not updated anymore.

830-2020031501
- bump toc and updated most of addons

Hi meggalo,

For the action bar they are plain blizzard action bar, only removed of things like griphons and skinned with rButtonTemplate and a rButtonTemplate theme (in the UI rButtonTemplate_Gm_sr).

So the position is where Blizzard place them I have not played with it Also to avoid taint problem that I am not so skilled to manage

So the short answer is that you cant move now them with my simple UI, probably you can move with another addon or with a full bar management like dominos or bartender4.

A more simple solution is to use ractionbar by zork:
https://www.wowinterface.com/downloa...ActionBar.html
which was the one I used in gmUI before I simplified it removing it.

With it you can move them

Thanks also for attention on rough times take care also of yourself )

2) Can you try to disable all addons except gmMenu and the databroker (chocolatebar or docking station or bazooka or whatever and see if the freezes remain ?

Thanks.

GM 8.3 has brought a lot of leak memory problems. If people use ready-made uis they should work fine. Problems start when people add there own which starts to cause all their's freezes lag issues.

Hi thanks so much friend !!!

Here we are blocked in home and we cant go out if not to only do essential things but in my town the situation is not so dangerous like in north part of italy.

I live in Tuscany, near Florence and here the covid si far less aggressive than other part of the country.

Btw we have to take all the attentions and follow the directive of the government like to not exit and stay in home.

Thanks again for your attention and take care of yourself too

I think the problem is because a lot of your addon use the same libraries. But they will be not the same version and so probably there will be a mismatch use.

I am trying with my addons to mantain all the same latest version of at least of these libraries:

Lua Code:
  1. libs\LibStub.lua
  2. libs\CallbackHandler-1.0.lua
  3. libs\LibDataBroker-1.1.lua
  4. libs\LibQTip-1.0.lua

https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addon...atabroker-1-1/
https://www.wowace.com/projects/libstub/files/937452
https://www.wowace.com/projects/libq.../files/2588113
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addon...khandler/files

But I understand that trying to replace and then use the same LATEST library for every addons is a PITA.
Probably the authors of other addons should try to update as soon as possible so we use all the same library.

But this is my idea ... and I don't know if it should be the real problem. I am sorry I cant help more.
I am not able to reproduce the issue and you don't get any errors I suppose.

Hi,

thanks for your input.

But there is a problem in this solutions.
If you have a template you get:

Lua Code:
  1. 3x rButtonTemplate\core.lua:291: attempt to call method 'GetCheckedTexture' (a nil value)
  2. rButtonTemplate\core.lua:291: in function `StyleItemButton'
  3. rButtonTemplate_Gm_sr\theme.lua:194: in main chunk

And the code it is referring is:
Lua Code:
  1. --rButtonTemplate:StyleItemButton
  2. local itemButtons = { MainMenuBarBackpackButton, CharacterBag0Slot, CharacterBag1Slot, CharacterBag2Slot, CharacterBag3Slot }
  3. for i, button in next, itemButtons do
  4.   rButtonTemplate:StyleItemButton(button, itemButtonConfig)
  5. end

So I simple comment out this code (also because I don't show those slots and this seems to work nicely.

I'll upload a new update soon.

Thanks again

Goldpaw suggested to remove the
Lua Code:
  1. local checkedTexture = button:GetCheckedTexture()
line and instead add these 2:
Lua Code:
  1. local checkedTexture = nil
  2. if button.GetCheckedTexture then checkedTexture = button:GetCheckedTexture() end

Error in rButtonTemplate

Hi,

if you get an error in rButtonTemplate after patch 8.1.5 then you should try to comment, putting a -- in the beginning of the line 283 of the following file:

Code:
\World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface\AddOns\rButtonTemplate\core.lua

Lua Code:
  1. local pushedTexture = button:GetPushedTexture()
  2. local highlightTexture = button:GetHighlightTexture()
  3. -- local checkedTexture = button:GetCheckedTexture()
  4.
  5. --backdrop
  6. SetupBackdrop(button,cfg.backdrop)

(line 3 here)

This in the wait zork will fix this.
Please let me know.

Hi,

You should add the code before the last "}".

Let take the player (World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\oUF_SimpleConfig\player.lua) for example:

After adding the buffs it should looks something like:

Lua Code:
  1. altpowerbar = {
  2.         enabled = true,
  3.         size = {130,5},
  4.         point = {"BOTTOMLEFT","TOPLEFT",0,4},
  5.     },
  6.
  7.     --addpowerbar (additional powerbar, like mana if a druid has rage display atm)
  8.     addpowerbar = {
  9.         enabled = true,
  10.         size = {2,35},
  11.         point = {"TOPRIGHT","TOPLEFT",-4,0},
  12.         orientation = "VERTICAL",
  13.         colorPower = true,
  14.     },
  15.
  16.     buffs = {
  17.         enabled = true,
  18.         point = {"BOTTOMLEFT","RIGHT",-24,20},
  19.         num = 5,
  20.         cols = 5,
  21.         size = 24,
  22.         spacing = 5,
  23.         -- initialAnchor = "TOPLEFT",
  24.         growthX = "LEFT",
  25.         growthY = "UP",
  26.         disableCooldown = true,
  27.     },
  28. }

Then you should take care of the castbar probably because it overlap a little bit ... and it should become something like:

Lua Code:
  1. castbar = {
  2.         enabled = true,
  3.         size = {208,26},
  4.         point = {"BOTTOMLEFT","TOPLEFT",32,40},

etc etc ... so you have to experiment a little bit of what you prefer (position, size, width

Remeber to do a

/reload

and also a

/gmui reset

to resets the frames to what you set in the config files.

Please let me know.

Hi,

yes you can make the buffs appear above the unit frame.

for example if I add this code to: World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\oUF_SimpleConfig\player.lua

Lua Code:
  1. buffs = {
  2.         enabled = true,
  3.         point = {"BOTTOMLEFT","RIGHT",-24,20},
  4.         num = 5,
  5.         cols = 5,
  6.         size = 24,
  7.         spacing = 5,
  8.         -- initialAnchor = "TOPLEFT",
  9.         growthX = "LEFT",
  10.         growthY = "UP",
  11.         disableCooldown = true,
  12.     },

You get something like:

Then you can experiment a little bit more with positioning (the "point"), numbers, size etc etc ...

Please let me know.
