SCT - Damage  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.1
by: Grayhoof [More]

What is it? - A mod that adds your damage to SCT. It provides a way for you to see your damage in a static location. This can be useful against large mobs like those in MC, Bosses, etc...Can use SCT animations or its on built in style.

What can it do?

- Your Melee, Spell, Skill, Periodic, and Pet Damage
- Spell Damage/Resists and Damage Type (by color)
- Target and Spell ID's
- All "Miss" events (dodge, block, immune, etc...)
- Custom Colors for all text events and crits.
- Ability to show only target damage
- Four Fonts to choose from
- Can disable built in WoW damage
- Sliders for text size, fade speed, and on screen placement (with custom editbox)
- Localized to work in almost all WoW clients.
How do I use it? - First you must have SCT installed already. Next, unzip SCTD it into your interface\addons directory. For more info on installing, please read install.txt. Now just run WoW and once logged in, type /sctdmenu to get the options screen or you can click the SCTD button on the SCT options menu.

FAQ
How do I remove the damage the scrolls above my targets head? - WoW itself does this. You can turn it off by checking the the "Disable WoW Damage" option, or by going to the Advanced Options under Interface options.

My Wow Damage won't turn back on, even after I turn off SCTD! - You need to turn this back on manually in WoW. Go to Advanced Options under Interface options and you will see a checkbox to enable damage. Also, it is highly recommended you don't use the "Enable Wow Damage in PvP" option if you are on a PvP server.

My peridoic damage is not showing up in the combat log or on the screen! How do I fix it? - You have turned off periodic damage on the Advanced Options under Interface options. Make sure the "Periodic Damage" check box is checked, even if you have Damage unchecked.

I don't like friendly nameplates on. How do I make my heals appear over who I heal? - Friendly nameplates have to be on in order to show your heals. SCT will turn them on if you turn on the option, but you must manually turn them off if you don't like it (see Target keybindings).

SCTD damage is ontop of my SCT messages, how do I fix this? - I highly suggest you move SCT's message using the sliders on the SCT option menu. You can also move SCTD using the sliders on its menu. Consider placing it over you target bar.

How do I reset SCTD or load another users settings? - SCTD is tied directly to SCT. You can reset SCTD using SCT's reset button or typing /sctreset. You can load another users SCTD settings by loading them from the SCT option menu.

How do I change the fonts? - You can select from four fonts on the options page.

I don't like enemy nameplates on. How do I make my damage appear over who I hit? - Enemy nameplates have to be on in order to show your hit over the enemy heads. SCT will turn them on if you turn on the option, but you must manually turn them off if you don't like it (see Target keybindings).

Grayhoof, I think I found a little bug. I'm currently using SCT-D with the Nameplate options. It is working fine normally, except when I go into BG's it starts displaying in the default position.

One thing I've noticed however is that if the person I'm fighting in the BG is from MY server, the damage displays correctly again. So it seems it has something to do with nameplates of enemies whom are not from your server. I haven't really been able to verify this with anyone else, so I was wondering if you could give it a test and see if it does the same thing.

Thanks in Advance!

There is something scewey going on with other realms names. Why are showing up as some BGS9-0 and such. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, but will monitor it.

Re: Re: SCTD not recognizing SCT.

You were right, which is funny as I had reinstalled them both three times. This time I closed and restarted WoW completely, works great!

Now all my mods are back in working order thank you very much.

Mooshuu, it looks like one of the 2 is not installed correctly. Please delete both folders entirely and reinstall them and let me know.

Sum up Events?

Hi I'm curious if theres a way to sum up some events like parrot did.
e.g. Sum aoe spell to show as *aoe xxxx dmg* 10 hits 3 crits

If thats possible i would not switch back to parrot if it gets updated

Grayhoof, even after the realm names were fixed I was encountering the same bug, I mentioned a few days ago. I tracked it down to the fact that the target name, and the name on the nameplate no longer match when BGs are involved.

Basically the name would be "PlayerName-Realm" while the stored data holding the nameplates would be indexed as self.UnitPlates["PlayerName"], hence it would never grab the right nameplate unless the target was from your own realm.

My crude fix was to change line 497 in sctd.lua to:

parent = SCT:GetNameplate(UnitName("target"))

This way it always matched the name to the name. I'm sure you'll have a better way to fix it, but I just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Undread, they are working for me in all BG's. It uses the name directly from the combat log which has the realm name in it. Not sure what else it could be.

if you use the "grayhoof" preset profile. it does seem to work.. but if you try and make a custom profile, you still cant see your damage against players from other realms.

on a side not. is there a way to speed up the way the text goes by?

Caritor, you have to turn on Show at Nameplate in SCTD to see it at the name plate. And yes, on the Animation tab in options there are 2 sliders to adjust speed and movement distance to tweak it to your tastes.

Grayhoof, from what I understand it pulls the name from the combat log then tries to find the nameplate using that name with the function SCT:GetNameplate(target). This function gets the nameplate from the available nameplates, however, these nameplates are indexed by the name WITHOUT the realm name.

So if I'm attacking "TaurenWarrior", from "Realm", the combat log gets "TaurenWarrior-Realm", while the self.UnitPlates[] has an entry for self.UnitPlates["TaurenWarrior"]. Thus the nameplate is never found when GetNameplate is called with "TaurenWarrior-Realm". This is the behavior I was observing, so I changed line 497 from

parent = SCT:GetNameplate(target)

to

parent = SCT:GetNameplate(UnitName("target"))

This way the target was stripped of its realm, and the nameplate was actually found, the mod didn't display damage at nameplates against characters on a different realm until I did this change. I'm not sure why its working correctly for you, maybe somehow your nameplates are indexed by the name+realm instead of just name.

Let me know if you discover anything else.

Showing damage in BGs

From what I can tell, the problems lies in selecting the "Only Target" option in the SCT-D options window. When I had this turned on, I would not see the damage done or interrupts done to my target in BGs and Arenas, however it would work fine for all PVE scenarios. Turning it off corrected the problem. For reference I do not use the nameplates option to show dmg.

I've had no dmg displayed for a while now, can't remember if it worked straight after the patch or not but definitely nothing for the past few days.

I've tried unticking the 'only target' option but still the same. Anyone found a workaround?

Try resetting your options on the profile tab.

I'm having a problem with one thing in SCT. Every since the 2.4 patch I can't get SCT to show my soulshard creation (Use to pop up everytime I made a ss). Was really helpful....so if anyone has any ideas or can tell me how to turn that on that would be greatly appreciated! FYI I have it updated to current using wowace updater.
