Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

In the "Focus/Party Target" tab, check the box next to "Hidden In Raids"

This will hide BOTH the party targets and the focus target when in a raid. It would be nice if these were separated, as I like to hide my party frames when in a raid as well as my party's targets, but I still use the focus frame and focus target while in a raid.

@Aizen: I'll keep this feature in mind for when I do the rewrite of this mod. I don't plan to add any new features to this version.

@themanwithoutsleep: I agree, this feature does need to be separated. No promises if this will make it in to the first 2.2 version, but I'll get this in.

As far as I know, you just have to install a cooldown mod, such as OmniCC, which can be found here: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fo.php?id=4836
Along these lines... how do we add the Perl Target Frame to Omni's blacklist?

I use Omni for my bars, but actually prefer the built in radius for the buffs/debuffs as the omni countdown is too large for those tiny icons. Apparently the way to stop Omni from displaying in the target frame is to add the target frame to it's blacklist lua.

I just can't get it to work with perl classic. I've tried "Perl_Target", "Perl_Target_Frame" and every combination with and without the underscore that you could imagine.

Any insight?

EDIT: got it to work, it is just "target" and it requires a game restart.

I would like to use this addon but I can't see the minimap button to set the options eventhough I have ticked the box in the addons folder. Typing /xp brings up a limited set of commands. the minimap button is not hidden behind another it just isn't there. I have downloaded versions from here and curse gaming but the result is the same, help please.

The correct slash command for Perl Classic is "/perl", not "/xp". I would imagine if the option is turned on and you cant see it, that it is hidden under another one of the icons on your minimap. The position can be changed for the minimap icon under the "All" section of the options.

It was x-perl that I had origianlly downloaded and had problems with. There are no such problems with Perl Classic, a nifty addon and highly configurable. Thanks for the great addon

Multiple Configurations

Hello!
I just customized my Interface via PERL into a HealerUI (all Party-Frames tight together and in the middle of the screen). Then I logged on to another character and customized his UI to fit a Damage Dealer (all Party-Frames pushed aside into the corner of the screen).
When I logged back to my Healer-Character I found that the changes I made for my Damage Dealer have also affected my Healer. I used the "Einstellungen laden"-Button (sorry, don't know the english description), but still the layout remained the Damage Dealer's.
Am I doing something wrong?

Few questions first. Do both of these characters have the same name (different servers)? If so, this is going to be one of those very annoying things since I do my settings via character name and not by server. I'm going to assume that since you didn't mention it in the post, that you may not have saved the layout on the character you wanted to use the load function from. In other words, did you hit the "Einstellungen speichern" on your healer first while it was all set up? If you didn't then the window positions would not have been restored when you hit the laden button. Another unfortunate (but will be changed in 3.x) is that the window positions are not saved as part of the mod settings for the individual character loads to work. I may add this in later depending on how much work it would be to implement into this version of the mod. Sorry if all this didn't really help. Worse comes to worse, just remove or rename the saved variable file for Perl in case there is a write issue or something. It can be found in the WoW/WTF/Account/ACCOUNTNAME/SavedVariables/Perl_*.lua files.

My PCUF frames are appearing on top of other frames like the trade window. Makes it difficult to trade items to people when I'm in a party and the party frame is covering up the trade buttons.

I'll look into a fix, but it seems like no matter what frame level I use it's going to interfere with something that someone uses. In the mean time, you can simply click on the trade window for it to go back on top of the party frames.
