Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

Good features but...

... but... I wish it would be a little bit more intuitive. Dunno, texture on bars, little bit nicer titles dunno. I really love Nymp's flexbar though I love your hugh feature list better. Still stuck with Nymp's I guess (for a while until you make it 100% ).

Good job, honestly...

textures and progessively colored bars will all come once i finish the main features and implment a good options gui to control it all with. i seriously doubt people want to deal with 10-20 slash commands on every character

I was not familiar with the mod so I checked it out. I have no intention to start supporting tons of different mods like this, but I'm also not planning on changing my frame name scheme ever. Perhaps you could ask AceHeal to support this mod

Great mod. I switch from Discord Unit Frames to this to check it out, and I really like the way it looks and feels.

My only question is support for party pets. Is there a missing / command to show party pets? I grouped with a warlock, and never once saw the pet window for warlock's pet come up once. It makes it hard to target the pet in combat, especially when playing a healer and pet is off tanking or tanking a secondary mob.

Other than that...looks great, and works great.

As of 0.20 Perl Classic supports party pets. The pet's health bar is displayed under the hunter/warlock's mana bar. Clicking on that 3rd bar will target the pet. I tested its functionality with a hunter out of raid and a warlock on a raid so everything should be working if you are on the latest version.

Oh...okay. Maybe I just didn't notice it. I'll look at it closer again, and see if I can see it.

Thanks

One request

Include and option to disable the pet bar in the group window.

I use Group buttons and when the pet lines show up it off sets the windows so that my group buttons unusable.

Yep, this is already on my list to do. During raids, I don't want to see pet bars as it messes with my ctra layout. This might make it in the next version of the next next version. Either way, it's soon.

Keep up the good work

Just wanted to say that I appreciate the rate at which you update this mod. Love the unitframes and the fact that they dont lag

Used them since release version .18 and hanging on to them as I realise its a work in progress...

And here 03.10 am I find that 0.23 is now ready for a first look . Wont get much sleep the next hour or so

Keep up the good work

This is really nice. I've hopped from unitframe mod to unitframe mod trying to find one that both looks nice and functions well without a ton of added mem usage/lag. I've been using this for a couple days and it works quite well. It's also nice to see that you're constantly improving and updating the little things. I'd rather constantly dowload fixes than wait weeks or months for something to get fixed because the author feels it doesn't need to be addressed until all the new stuff he's adding gets put in (much like blizzard at times heh).

hehe, i hear ya. i try to get a few bug fixes together or add it in with a nice feature if i'm going ot make people wait. right now i'm just enjoying playing wow and havent coded a single thing since .23 but at the same time, there aren't any bugs that i've been informed about so it's just new features lookin at me. new features = lots of time. so i'm just waiting till im in the mood to do it and do it right

Awesome adaptation. I did discover this, though:
http://www.noobschoolbus.com/wow/perlmod-tooltip.jpg

Not sure if that's a bug with Perl or one of my other mods? I'd also voice that Target of Target be brought that, the mod you linked just isn't as good as the original Perl and it sure doesn't fit the color scheme!

I also noticed that there isn't anything in the target box to signify that you have a civilian targeted.
