ArkInventory (AI or ARKINV) is an inventory mod that was based off EngInventory when the BtS 2.0.0 patch came out and I needed a working replacement.

AI's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".

AI uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.


You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.


Overview:

* unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
* assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
* assign categories to the bar of your choice
* configurable bars per row
* configurable width
* display bank, bag, keyrings for current and alts across all realms
* separate keybindings for bag, keyring and bank viewing


Key Bindings:

Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
click on Key Bindings
scroll down to ArkInventory
bind the keys you want to use

  • fixed - https://github.com/arkayenro/arkinventory/issues/1871 - updated object code to handle any new INVTYPE values better

known issues
  • some default frames (vendor/merchant at minimum) that would normally open via the PlayerInteractionFrameManager no longer open if you are in combat, you just get an addon error. there is currently no workaround.
  • (dragonflight) reagentbank slots are no longer readable unless the bank is open
  • recipes on vendors are showing item counts for the items they create, not the recipe
  • Enum.ItemConsumableSubclass is missing the Flask entry and everything after has moved down a value which screws up the category names (have hardcoded a workaround for the moment)
  • items with an active cooldown dont allow comparison tooltips to generate
  • cooldowns no longer start automatically. you can close/open the bag to get them to show (if you enable that option). all of the cooldown events ACTIONBAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, BAG_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, PET_BAR_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, SPELL_UPDATE_COOLDOWN, appear to trigger off other players as well, but do not provide any indication whether the event was triggered by you or them, so cooldowns will trigger window refreshes fairly constantly when you are around large numbers of players. even limiting it to one update per second generated too much lag, especially in massive groups.
  • chat link for a battlepet in the guild bank will not send
  • the first time you click on a hyperlink in chat it wont show the item counts

to do
  • double check all categories show/hide for the right clients
  • confirm things havent broken in classic, wrath, or shadowlands
  • restack disable - maybe change this to require a modifier key instead of a straight disable? might be easier to shift/alt/ctrl click on it than turning it on/off and its not like youll accidentally do it (which is why the disable was added)
  • backpack tokens to scroll when max width reached on second line
  • extend the categoryset actions to individual items for additional granular control.
  • add action; move (bank to bag, bag to bank, bag to vault, vault to bag)
  • add actions to items
  • allow multiple actions on a category / item

When i go to the bank and want to transfer something from/to my bags both are sometimes not responding (its not lag because everyone around walks around normally) when i drag&drop or rightclick the item. Both windows are open and i can see all my stuff but i cannot transfer anything. The only thing that helps when this happens is to relog.

I had installed 1.28 yesterday, and was seeing that moving items around in my bank would not update to the new position unless I exited the bank and came back. Installed 1.29 a couple mins ago, fresh restart, and items do move but it takes 4 - 5 seconds for he item to appear in the new slot.
definately shouldnt be taking that long at all, max is 0.5 seconds (thats the rate limiting i was using for bag update events)? i never experienced that level of lag before on any of my characters but i've removed the rate limiting so that wont be a factor in 1.30 although it may cause some other issues later on

And this is really strange... on my mules, if I move a couple items in my bank, and then go to move items in my bags, when I click and drag an item the actual item being move is one bag farther down in my inventory. For example, I click an item from slot 14 in my main backpack. The actual item being grabbed is from slot 14 of bag 2. It only seems to happen after moving an item(s) in my bank around first.
yep, thats related to the stack split bug, it's due to the way i was implementing the bag/slot transfer into blizzard code, i've changed that to a different method and that seems to working, in that i can split a stack of ammo, move over a stack of snowballs, enter 10 and not have it pick up 10 snowballs. hopefully this new way should fix all those issues, i just have to test it a bit more.

I think what makrin here means is this... Using the default Blizzard interface, it shows us, the bank bag slots available to us - these are the 7 bag slots located at the bottom of the normal item slots on the default bank interface.

Using AI, I am not able to view these bank bag slots. That means, I have no way to either buy additional bank bag slots that will max out at 7 bags or move bags around in those slots.
yep, 1.29 is the first version that has the bagchanger frame implemented so the hide blizzard frame option will now also hide the bank frame as well now

What's weird though is that the screen's quite muddled up - the close button isn't there where it should be and so are other elements of the original bank UI if I have AI loaded up.
my fault, i left in some code that i was using to move the frame off screen, it screws it up rather nicely 1.29 does it properly.


I also see in your new version (by just looking at the new screenshots you loaded) that you've added the inventory bag slots to be viewable in your mod. I wonder if I can swap 'em around like in the original UI?
yep, exact same functionality when online at the bank, even the purchase button is there, same for your personal bag slots.

I gotta ask though... do you even have time to actually play these days?
lol, amazingly yes, we finally got razorgore down in bwl tonight no rogue loot though but it was still fun, only got vael down to 8%

luckily i don't think there'll be too many major changes to AI coming up so i can play BC

Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me of this!

I got a screenshot of something that's happening to me with version 1.28. I'll load up 1.29 and check if it's still there and if it is, I'll post it here.

Your version's already up 1.29! Woohoo! Great work. I gotta ask though... do you even have time to actually play these days? I'll comment on the new version once I see it.

have you talked to a banker? it wont load your items until you do? what does the bank window look like?

I'm encountering an error right now that I can't get an error out of. It happens when I go back and forth to the AH, mailbox then to my bank several times. When I finally get to the bank, I can't transfer items into another slot.
i'm not sure about this one but it could be related to the next one below?

There's also been a couple of times where after viewing my bank, I forgot something so I clicked on the NPC again to get my bank up but it just won't pop up.
this one's fixed in 1.29

doing a /reloadui should have the same effect, just quicker, if you need to do that again. it could be related to the problem above but i'm not sure, you'll have to check again when 1.29 is available.

I have another functionality that I would like to see in your mod. An auto re-stacker. I think the compression thing you got on your to do list is cool but it should include the amount of slots the combined stack is occupying because showing that I have 100 Pecebloom saves space but you really don't know that number is occupying 5 slots of bag space or herb bag space. I think a better functionality is if there's like a re-stack items button.
yes, restacking would be easier to do as well (i think) the compression idea was from another user and would be difficult to implement at this point so i left it on the todo list at low priority.

I've always wondered why if I'm farming something like runecloth for example, when a stack reaches 19 and the max stack of runecloth is 20, when I pickup runecloth from a dead mob and I'm about to get 3 runecloth, it creates another stack of 3 runecloth instead of splitting that stack so 1 joins the 19 stack then create a stack of 2.
it's just a weird blizzard thing, sometimes it'll fill up a stack and at other times it won't? it's very odd and could be item specific.

In my talior alt, I've always had this situation where I got a 19 stack and a stack with just 1! That takes up a couple of bag spaces where I could just easily combine them and get an empty bag slot for other items. Thing is, it happens a lot with a maxxed out bank.

nope, there are other mods out there that add that info to the tooltip. AI wasn't really intended as an alt viewer (there are better mods out there for that, like Sanity2) and probably won't be extended into that area.

Is there a way like in Bagnon to know which of our alt have a given item and how many they have just by clicking on that item link ???
for example: i get a "thorium ore" with Tibia, but Rotule (one of my alt) have 10 of them, is there a way to have (when playing Tibia) "Rotule owns 10 (Bank + Inv)"

By default, I'm getting 15 bars right now. I don't know why that is, I haven't actually read everything in this thread to find out or if Ark has answered this question but 15 is the magic default number. I wish there was like an option to set the number of bars automatically. Not home right now to confirm if there is and I've only started using the mod.
15 is (3 bars by 5 rows) which is what EngInventory had as a hardcoded number so i set the minimum number of bars to 15 for people who swapped over, otherwise it would start with just 1.

I can't set the number of bars either but I can increase the number of bars by going to edit mode then I click an item in the last bar and assign it a higher bar using the slider. At max I can increase it 3 at a time if I set the number of bars in a row to be 3. Logically I think if I set it higher, the will increase to that. So if I set the number of bars in a row to 8, if I do the increase method I described above, it will increase to +8 off the default making the total number to 23.
this is correct, there is no hard-coded number of bars or rows, it creates as many as you need to fit in the window, so it'll always divide the number of total bars by the number of bars per row you set and then round it up to get a whole row.

you can, as you already figured out, move a category up to the last bar + 1 via the slider, which effectively creates a new row (of however bars per row you have set), alternatively you can just insert an empty bar, if that pushes a category onto the next row you'll get another row

it's a bit weird but once you figure it out you should be ok
