Stuf Unit Frames (and Raid)  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 9.2.101
by: totalpackage, Uitat

Stuf is a replacement to StellarUF. Stuf has the same initial layout and feel of StellarUF, but Stuf is highly customizable.

Do not expect much since this mod's purpose is to replace the Blizzard's main unit frames, not other unit frame mods. I'll most likely deny requests to copy random features.

Noteworthy Recent Additions:

  • Option to only show custom text on mouse-over
  • Latency indicator for player casting bar
  • Arena Frames
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icons
  • Option to use Lua instead of text patterns for advanced users
  • Option to save per character

Supported Units:
  • Player, pet, and pet target
  • Target, target of target, and target of target of target
  • Focus and target of focus
  • Party with their pets and targets
  • Arena with their pets and targets (new in v3.1.005)
  • StufRaid - main raid, raid pets, and raid roles (tanks/assist) and their target and target of target (does not and will not support oRA2/CTRA MT/PT)

Notable Features:
  • Easy transition from Blizzard default frames
  • Cast bars for the main units
  • Dispellable debuff visual
  • Target and focus timer bars for your buffs/debuffs
  • Threat bars on target and focus
  • Shaman totem timers, Death Knight rune bars, and Druid mana bar
  • Low memory and CPU usage compared to popular unit frame mods
  • Customization similar to Discord Unit Frames
  • LibSharedMedia-3.0 support for textures and fonts
  • Ace3 dialog config is used for the options GUI
  • Stuf_Range - LibRangeCheck-2.0 support for estimated distance on target and focus
  • Clique support for click-casting
  • ClassColors custom class color and ConfigMode support for one-button-config
  • ButtonFacade support for aura icon skins (may be buggy)

How to Use:
  • Basic - make sure Stuf_Options is enabled; it's required for initializing defaults and changing settings
  • Options menu - "/stuf" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
  • Hide party in raid - Stuf obeys Blizzard's option to "Hide Party Interface in Raid"
  • Show/Hide elements - many are hidden/shown by setting the alpha or color alpha to zero
  • Slider nudging - (bug Ace3 people for a better way), I do the following:
    1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
    2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
    3. Left-click.
    4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
    5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.
  • For sliders, you can also manually input values and press enter.
  • Many options, so I suggest checking each option one-by-one
  • StufRaid:
    • Options menu - "/stufraid" or check the Addons tab in Interface Options
    • Basic - StufRaid does not require Stuf, and Stuf does not require StufRaid
    • Special text - install UTF8 to support special characters for the name text sub-string feature

Features Lacking (forever):
  • No profiles, but you can save per character. Profiles would at least double the memory usage (plus more for each profile you create) of Stuf due to its massive saved variables. Check out Reflux to add profiles options to Stuf and other mods.
  • Showing raid instead of party frames when in a party.
  • Advanced buff/debuff filtering for main units.
  • Switching frames when in vehicle
  • Full-featured casting bar (no GCD, breathe, cooldowns, etc)
  • Anything that would really kill performance and lack usefulness
  • Anything for which already has a great standalone mod
  • Anything picky about text that can be done using Lua text
  • Color health bars if mob is tapped

Known Issues:
  • You cannot right-click Stuf's player buff icon to cancel shape-shift forms (ie. druid forms and shadow form) since they're protected now.

It's only visible with the main player's power bar for classes with mana. I've tested it with several classes and power bar settings, and it works just fine. Do you have the player's power bar hidden or very thin?

No, I play a mana class with the power bar shown, it takes up about 1/4 of the frame with a height of 10 with the scaling at 1.36. How wide am I going to have to make the power bar to have it visible.

The class-reaction coloring seems to be a little funky too; in raids last night i was getting an issue with the player I targeted after targeting a hostile mob the player would be colored red. In Dalaran with the NPC mages scattered around the city the coloring would be correct when targeting them after not targeting anything before. If I selected a player before targeting the NPC the frame color would look like a washed out green.

Ok, I believe I fixed both of your problems. You probably have disabled the cast bar for all units, right? Anyway, try out the latest version to see if you still have the class-reaction coloring problem.

Yeah the cast bars are off. I turned it on and set alpha to 0 until I get the newest update in my folder and can see the power tick now.

Thanks for the frequent fixes and updates!

That's not necessary with the latest version. You should turn it back off to save memory/cpu usage.

I dislike the cooldown pie, and I hate it with a cooldown text over it (cooldown pie is required to support OmniCC, etc). It's hard to see the icon and takes up a lot of CPU to process, especially in group combat. They're only useful if the icons are huge and in small quantity. I am open for suggestions to a better way to show cooldowns on buffs/debuffs.

The cooldown timers are basically uneccessary with the cooldown bars included with the unitframe.

Everything is working great with the latest build.

I would like to thank you for those great unitframes!
As a former Pitbull user, I've found all the necessary displays and customization I need without having to use an oversized engine.
Thank you!

I would like to ask for a small feature request though:

I am using the Dogtag NumTargetting in order to display the number of raidmembers targetting my target as a number.
The dogtag itself isn't very complicated, and I've seen that you are using a similar but simpler approach for HP andmana tags.

For myself I am unable to add this function by myself, so I'd like to ask you if or how this could be added

The Dogtag itself reads:

DogTag:AddTag("Unit", "NumTargeting", {
code = function(unit)
local num = 0
for u in iterateGroupMembers() do
if UnitIsUnit(u .. "target", unit) then
num = num + 1
end
end
return num
end,
arg = {
'unit', 'string;undef', 'player'
},
ret = "number",
events = "UNIT_TARGET;Update",
doc = L["Return the number of group members currently targeting unit"],

It would be great if this could be done, or if you could point me to the right direction how to add it myself.

Thank you again!

I personally think the usefulness of that feature is questionable, and its processing is CPU heavy (especially in a raid). In other words, I most likely won't add it. However, I've found a mod (might be others) that does almost what you want and actually seems handy:

I really like the look and the way the unitframes can be customized, but am I missing something with working the sliders? They seem to move in chunks by dragging the slider position and don't really allow for fine-tuning. They aren't responding at all to my scroll wheel.

Took me a while to figure it out and hope that the Ace3 people implements a better way. I do the following:
1. Move your cursor over the text above the slider, a tooltip should be showing.
2. Move your cursor up until the tooltip disappears.
3. Left-click.
4. Move your cursor back over the slider until the tooltip reappears.
5. Now you can nudge using mouse wheel.

Edit: Going to copy this to the description page.

this is exactly what ive been looking for. Set up my unit frames to match my designed UI, very pleased.

2nd Line text, the Line commonly for level Class, Race. Im using

[level] [class:race] [class:class]

When I target an NPC, i see, for Instance If the guy's name is Teller McGee ill see

Teller McGee
75 Human Teller McGee

[class] seems to just repeat the name if you are targeting an NPC. Any way around this? Some sort of toggle to only show class if its a PC and not an NPC?

That's how localized class is defined by Blizzard for NPCs. I suggest showing something else for NPCs since NPC class is not very important. Or you can use a hidden infotag CLASS, which shows the class key in English and caps.
Code:
[level] [class:race] [class_if_pc:class]
or
[level] [class:race] [class:CLASS]
