RABuffs  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.3.1
by: Foxlit [More]

RABuffs makes buffing and raid status monitoring easy by displaying information that you are interested in in a compact window. Each watched aspect is represented with a status bar, capable of displaying three different segments - typically divided into buffed, fading soon and expired buffs.

RABuffs helps you buff. Clicking on a bar out of combat automatically picks the right rank of a spell (including group- and class-wide buffs) and casts it on needy group member(s), greatly simplifying the process of buffing the groups assigned to you. Segments of status bars also begin to flash as the buff you're watching is about to expire, warning you in advance of a needed rebuff.

RABuffs is customizable. Queries are not limited to simply checking for buffs - you can also monitor the raid's health and mana, PvP tags, location, cooldowns on various spells, point out who isn't wearing their Onyxia Scale Cloak on a Nefarian raid, and much, much more. You can even create custom queries to watch for buffs and debuffs not included by default. You may also narrow down the group of people a status bar checks - anything from "everyone" to "groups 1-3" to "shamans, druids and warlocks" to "shamans in groups 1-3 and Alice but not Bob" is possible using the easy-to-use Layout configuration interface.

Use /rab to show/hide the RABuffs window while out of combat and /rab config to display the configuration dialog.

Advanced Features

  • Holding down SHIFT while hovering over a bar inverts the information displayed in the tooltip; holding down ALT forces RABuffs to use a different kind of spell to buff (single vs group/class versions).
  • Clicking the Alive bar out of combat will attempt to res a nearby dead group member (if they have not released).
  • RABuffs generates text output for its queries. You can CTRL+Click on a bar to send a message to a customizable chat channel notifying people of the information the bar is displaying to you.
  • You can view the results of queries not present in your RABuffs window by using the /rq slash command (typing /rq brings up short help for the command). It can also be used to send the query result message to a chat channel of your choice.
  • RABuffs transforms queries typed in [square brackets] in chat to query links, allowing you to easily share assignments with your group. If you send a message containing [motw 123], RABuffs will transform it into a clickable link that'll let people add a Mark of the Wild status bar monitoring groups 1-3 to their RABuffs window.
  • RABuffs shares spell cooldown data with your group. You may also use RALight to share the same information. RALight requires no configuration and uses little resources, making it ideal for group members who want to share their spell cooldowns but do not wish to run RABuffs.
  • You can customize the appearance of the RABuffs interface using libSharedMedia (typically bundled with other addons; see also SharedMedia for additional textures). It is generally worthwhile checking RABuffs configuration to adjust the settings to match your preferences.

RABuffs 1.3.1 ("Now your benefactors make their appearance...")
  • Druids can now use the alive query to cast Revive.
  • Added Death Knights support to filters (k).

Fix for patch?

Needs updating for today's patch.

Other than that I have to say I love this mod. I've recommended to our buffing raiders. Went to BWL tonight (bugged) without it and I missed it a lot.

Great work!

0.10.5e2 is a .toc patch for 2.0.3/2.0.4 on top of the fixes introducing in 0.10.5e; that should run without errors on the live realms at the moment. Post details if it doesn't

Timers

Finally, here's a mod that'll show remaining times on raid buffs all in one place, so I don't have to mouse all over the damn place to see which ones are wearing down -- love it!

Couple things would make this even awesomer: Being able to sort the tooltip by time remaining, instead of by group; Being able to somehow gather remaining times on all of your kind of buff, including the ones you didn't cast (this should be possible, I think? X-Perl, for example, seems to show me remaining times on everyone's buffs, even those I didn't cast); and lastly, an option to flip the "invert with Shift" thing so that it'll default the other way around.

Anyway, great mod in the meantime -- thanks for the work on it.

[Edit: Actually, I can't figure out the rhyme/reason for whether or not the timers display at all... even when casting a buff via RABuffs, it often won't show a countdown.]

There's a method to the madness, but the explanation is sort of long. To begin with, WoW fires events when someone gains an aura -- "Xyzplayer gains Mark of the Wild", for example -- but not when someone recasts Mark of the Wild on a player already buffed with it; so parsing chat for "gains Mark of the Wild" will become unreliable as more and more people rush to rebuff those whose timers they believe are fading. RABuffs doesn't verify whether its cast went through or not -- there are rather many failure conditions even after all of the client-side checks, so it doesn't draw timer data from there either.
What RABuffs does parse for timers are special chat messages sent by itself or CT_RA-compatible addons -- hence the weirdness in displaying whose buffs are fading, and whose are not. The easiest solution to getting everyone's buff timers is to simply get everyone to use RABuffs (bit of self-promotion there, but, hey, it gives reliable data, unlike most methods).

Of course, it's been a while since I've looked into how the chat events are fired; I'll have a look at what X-Perl does to provide their timers.

Ahh, okay, that makes a lot more sense now. Silly API, making things all complicated.

Anyway, thanks for the reply -- appreciate your time.

Should not occur in 1.1.2, which does more explicit checks on what it's trying to apply chat filters to.

You can add most of those yourself using the in-game query editor.

Ludwig & RABuffs

Code:
RABuffs\RABuffs_ui.lua:169: attempt to index local 'text' (a nil value)
(tail call): ?:
Ludwig\slash.lua:117: in function `value'
Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:3123: in function `ChatEdit_ParseText':
Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:2815: in function `ChatEdit_SendText':
Interface\FrameXML\ChatFrame.lua:2836: in function `ChatEdit_OnEnterPressed':
<string>:"*:OnEnterPressed":1: in function <[string "*:OnEnterPressed"]:1>
This happens when I try to query an itemID with Ludwig, using the command

/lw --23808

(not even sure that this is the right way to query for it in Ludwig, that is what I wanted to check out)

I have no idea which of the two addons is causing the problem...

I have not released a 2.4-specific version of RABuffs at this point; 1.2.2, however, works without any issues. There are no plans to repackage 1.2.2 with a 2.4 TOC version, so you'll have to wait until 1.2.3 for it to get off that list.

On the bright side, it works!

Am I the only one having problems getting RAbuffs working with the 2.4 patch? I've downloaded the latest RAbuffs, made sure that it is enabled in the plugins, even cleared out the WTF data, but the RAbuffs window never appears. Any hints on getting this working would be very welcome, as I really miss this mod. Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I feel stupid; forgot to check the "Load out of date addons". I checked that and now it works like a charm!

Divine Spirit (single buff) for Warriors and Rogues

Love the mod! Makes buffing so much easier! Thx for putting pet buffing in the most recent update!

Just 1 request, could you make it so Priests can single buff Divine Spirit on Warriors and Rogues (arena dispel fodder)? I've tried everything to try to configure it to do so but it never saves my configuration properly.

Thx
