Compare Stats *Discontinued*  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.2-1.12
by: Dialos [More]

****I am no longer updating this mod. If you wish to get similar functionality I suggest looking at Ratings Buster which now does some similar stat Calculations to what I was trying to do here.

Ever loot a new item and it looks like it's better, but when you equipped it the stat changes weren't what you expected? Compare Stats will tell you the basic stat differences between an equipped item and one that you are moused over. Besides calculating the differences in the basic stats it will also calculate HP and mana gain/lose, attack power from strength and agility and dps based on attack power and ranged attack power.

Features:
* Calculates the difference between an equiped item's stats and one you moused over.
* Calculates HP and Mana gain or lose when either item has Stamina or Intellect. Also takes into account Tauran racial bonus of 5% to health.
* Calculates attack power gain or lose based on formulas for each class.
* Calculates the added DPS gained or lost from the attack power bonus.
* Shows attack power and DPS changes for all forms if you are a druid.
* Ranged Attack Power and DPS gained or lost.
* Compare to offhand slot by holding down the Alt key. This works with rings and trinkets as well.

Things to do/bugs:
I am working on adding more calculated stats to the tooltip; Crit%, dodge, parry, block, etc.
* Make it possible to switch between embedded data and having it's own tooltip.
* If the Gametooltip is above a certain number of lines CompareStats data will display in it's own tooltip regardless of selected mode.
* Create saved variables so user can set where the tooltip is anchored to.

Changes:
9/23/06 1.2 - Fixed the bug where the mod would not display info at first until the alt key was pressed. Should start working immediately now.
8/30/06 1.1 - Returned to embedding the data in the game tooltip for now.
Added Alt key functionality for comparing 1h weapons to the offhand. This works with rings and trinkets as well. The word "Alt" will appear in the tooltip to indicate this.
Offhand items will now compare to the main hand if a 2h weapon is equipped. The word "Main" will appear in the tooltip to indicate this.
2h weapons will now compare to both weapon slots if an offhand item is equipped. The word "Both" will appear in the tooltip to indicate this.
Confirmed that the latest version of Bagnon works without adding any additional code.
Druid stats for bear and cat form should now be correct.
Improved code to address data disappearing from the tooltip.
Using GFWTooltip.lua, GFWUtils.lua and GFWTable.lua from Fizzwidget's addons. They simplified a lot of the work I was doing. So a special thanks to Fizzwidget for some great mods and awesome work.
7/27/06 1.0 - New version number due to complete rewrite of the mod.
No longer dependent on EnhTooltip or Stubby.
Added Ranged Attack Power and Ranged DPS based on attack power.
Due to the new tooltip most should find the text to be a lot more readable at higher resolutions.
Also, the stats are grouped now, with basic stats appearing at the top of the tooltip and calculated stats coming after.
Lines of text are now colored red or a shade of red when they are negative and green or some shade of blue or yellow if they are positive.
Added a localization file.
Updated the screen shot.
Updated the TOC (no really, I did this time)
The only bug I know of deals with the tooltip when there is not an item equipped to compare to. Hopefully the author of BonusScanner gets back to me on this as I think I'm bypassing something in his mod that updates his tables.
7/23/06 0.3 - Changed the file name to reflect the current version of WoW. For some reason I put 1.10.
Changed the tooltip config to embedded to fix an issue with text going outside the tooltip. This may also fix the scaling issues some people are having. Let me know. I tested it at both 1024x768 (what I play at) and 1280x1024 and it looked good to me.
Added the latest version of EnhTooltip to the zip file. If you use Auctioneer then stay with the versions of Stubby and EnhTooltip you already have, CompareStats should work fine with any recent version.
7/21/06 0.2 - Added attack power calculations and dps based on basic stats. This only calculates dps based on attack power, it does not look at weapon stats.
7/21/06 0.1 - Initial release

Dependencies: BonusScanner (included in the zip file)

Optional Files (0)

Is this Mod one of those that is broken forever?? If not, is it possible for someone to repair it for 2.0?? I miss this mod, I have twice already bought new items thinking they should have been great upgrades only to be very disappointed. I will be earnestly waiting for some awesome programmer to fulfill my wish. .

Sorry for the delay with the new version. I'm moving into a new house and haven't had a lot of time to work on the mod.

I do have a semi working version that allows you to choose between an embedded mod or not, but for some reason it breaks the ability for the mod to work with item links in the chat window. Like I said, haven't had a lot of time to test it, but hopefully I can get something worked out soon.

Thanks, I don't normally check ui.worldofwar. I don't like their layout. The last time I checked for an update to Bonusscanner on curse-gaming it wasn't updated and I haven't checked for it since. I will integrate the new version and test it, should have an update up soon.

Is there any specific reason you use an older version of BonusScanner?
http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=1461 is the link in the lua and there is 1.2

You now use:
-- BonusScanner v0.9.6 beta

This is actually something I'm working on. Hopefully I'll have it working soon; having some trouble with formating within the tooltip.

As you can see from my to do list I plan on making it possible to select between two modes, embedded and seperate tooltip. The embedded mode will auto switch to a seperate tooltip should the number of lines in the gametooltip exceed a specified count. This should prevent data from falling off the bottom when looking at items that have a large amount of data; i.e. set items or another mods data. Also planned is the ability to set the location of the anchor point for the seperate tooltip in either mode, which should allow people to move it around to accommodate different UI setups.

Lot's to do and so little time to do it in.

You are correct. I only look at stats and the dps is based on the change those stats have on your attack power.

missing info

Also getting missing info. Noticed that it doesnt show immediately when I hover over a weapon/armor in the AH, I press ALT and the info appears. Also, if i hover over a 1H weapon the stats show,...when I hover over a 2H weapon the stats dissappear. I have to conxoel reloadui to reset everything. But when I hover over a 2H weapon to start with, theres nothing there again. Only happens when I hover over 2H weapons. Pressing ALT still shows nothing.

*EDIT*
Seems to only happen with my lvl60 Hunter. I have a lvl17 Pally and 2H weapons work fine and stats show. Only with the Hunter, 1H is ok and not 2H weapons. Once they dissapear they dont show up anymore. Also is not on when I log in and I have to press ALT before I see the stats.

Did I miss something?

Auction browsing

One thing I've noticed (mostly in the AH) is that the CS info isnt always displayed. For instance, if I'm searching for a new weapon, and mousing over all the items displayed, frequently I'll just see "Equiping the item will change:" with nothing listed beneath. If the item has no stats or modifiers (ie, the item quality is grey or white), the tooltip should show that I'm losing all of the stats bonuses from what I have equiped.

Also, in regards to the dps calculation, that only calculates changes based on the items stats and not on the weapon speed and damage, correct? For example, if I have 1 white level weapon, and I mouse over another white weapon, it wont show the dps gain or loss will it?

Or is it supposed to, and i'm using some other mod that's messing with it?

I'll test it more tonight.

I've not seen this kind of issue while using CS, but I also don't use Bagnon and have a lot of memory to spare. Does it do that with Bagnon disabled?

I added an on update function to handle checking for the alt key being pressed. I'll look at that and may need to impliment some kind of delay between checks. Didn't think of that as I was just happy to get the Alt key functionality to work.

Performace Issue with New Release

Latest version seems to be causing a FPS/memory usage problem after I open my bank or character bags - Bagnon. Memory usage climbs from around 1KiB/s to over 10KiB/s and average FPS drops by at least 20 with a big pause every sec or so. It only starts after I open the bags. Rolling back this mod and only this mod fixes it. Some sort of loop revolving around refreshing of toolitps? Have Auctioneer and sundry mods installed so EnhTooltip is being used.

Re: Re: EngInventory

I've downloaded the newest version of comparestats, and I'm going to go beat it up now
From the screenshots you posted, great work!

Edit:
I've tried it and it works great.
I'm surprised to see however, that while it works in Bagnon, but not in Banknon. Does it work in the default bank? can someone else test that?
Thanks I worked really hard to get everything working the right way. Banknon and the default bank don't show the info because of the way Blizz handles the banking interface. It's part of the SetInventoryItem function for some unexplainable reason. Since I don't want the data to appear when mousing over items that you are wearing already I didn't impliment this function call and the unhappy side affect is that the main bank window doesn't show the data either, though the bank bags do. I'm investigating work arounds as I myself find this annoying as well. Sorry, I meant to post that in the changes for 1.11.

A side comment - As soon as you are able, see if you can put the comparison info into a seperate tooltip again... If you use mods that add other info to the tooltip, you often run out of room and can't see all of the data.
I agree and that is why the last version was in a seperate tooltip, but I didn't like the way it was working and couldn't find a place to anchor it without it getting in the way of other mods I use. Something I'm working on for the next version is the ability to switch between embedded mode and a seperate tooltip that you can anchor where ever you want. The way I have the mod now should make that fairly easy to do. As well I will be implimenting a check for the number of lines in the gametooltip that if over a certain number my data will dump to a seperate tooltip. This should fix the fact that set items have so many lines that my data is pushed off the bottom.
