OPie  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: Lime 6
by: Foxlit [More]

OPie is a radial action-binding addon: it lets you group actions into rings which appear when you hold down a keyboard or mouse binding. When you release the binding, OPie will perform an action based on where your mouse cursor is.

Use OPie to reduce the amount of clutter on your action bars: rings can contain your abilities, items, professions, battle pets, equipment sets, macros, and raid or world markers. Some rings for common class abilities and professions are included, as is a special quest items ring which automatically makes all of your quest and quest-starting items easily accessible. Other addons may add additional rings; for example, Spade uses OPie rings to let you chose the seeds you want to plant on your farm.

Download OPie today; configure to your liking (/opie), and customize your rings (/opie rings). For more details, see the OPie Guide, the screenshots here, or a YouTube video of OPie in action.

Ring snapshots and tutorial/gameplay videos
You can create snapshots of your custom rings to share with other players; if you like, you can post them in the comments section on this page. Likewise, if you've created a video showing how you use OPie, I would very much like to hear about it.

Bug reports and feature requests
If you encounter any problems while using OPie, or think of useful functionality to add to OPie, use the OPie ticket tracker if possible, or leave a comment here.

# OPie Lime #
* You can now snapshot your custom OPie rings to share them with other players.
* Changes made in OPie configuration panels are now applied immediately (outside of combat lockdown), and can always be undone entirely by clicking Cancel.
* New, configurable "Selected slice (keep ring open)" binding allows you to use the currently-selected slice without closing the ring (Bindings → Slice Bindings).
* Slices can now be hidden based on a macro conditional evaluated when the ring is opened.
* Improved support for spells with automatically recharging charges, e.g. Roll.
When some, but not all, charges have been expended, OPie displays a semi-transparent cooldown spiral and a spinning spark around the slice's border to indicate the time remaining until the next charge is available.
Added a separate "Show recharge numbers" option to display time until next charge is available as a number.
* You can now adjust the position at which OPie rings are displayed through the configuration UI.
* An Extra Action Button slice can now be added to custom rings.
* OPie can now automatically select matching slice colors based on slice icons.
* The Quest Items ring now includes the Cooking School Bell and Blingtron 4000 if you have not yet completed those daily quests today.
* Cooldowns are now displayed for battle pet slices.
* Slices that are unusable due to being out of range now have a red stripe in the upper left corner of the icon.
* Slices that are unusable due to a lack of resources now have a blue stripe in the upper left corner of the icon.

## Changes ##
* Custom rings limited to other classes or characters can now be modified through the Custom Rings options panel (Inactive rings sub-menu).
* Changing a ring's binding through the Custom Rings configuration panel now changes both the default and active profile's binding for the ring.
* Ability names in custom OPie macros are automatically converted into spell links when the macro is saved.
You can temporarily revert links to text representations by right-clicking or alt-right-clicking them.
* Many bundled rings have been updated.
* Improved custom macro parser to support {{spell:id}} tags in castsequence/castrandom macros, /cast !{{spell:id}} syntax, and preserve empty clauses.
* Improved default mount detection for {{mount:ground}} and {{mount:air}} tags in OPie macros.
* Deleting a ring now also deletes the related per-ring options.
* Removed the option to display an icon at the center of an OPie ring.
* Removed Challenger's Paths ring.
* Masque is no longer supported.
* The various overlay dialogs now shroud OPie configuration panels from mouse wheel events.
* This update changes slices using the pre-Lime default slice color (e5ff00) to use icon-dependent colors.
* Non-/cast-like custom macros are now always considered usable.
* Unusable slices are now dimmed rather than faded.

## Bug fixes ##
* Fixed an error that occurred when navigating away from slice detail view when the macro box is focused and modified.
* Fixed an error that occurred when the Unbind button was clicked.
* Fixed an error that occurred when resetting per-slice bindings for a specific ring to default values.
* Fixed an error that occurred during slice selection when ring scale was set to low values.
* Fixed an issue preventing unbinding a ring from releasing the binding to other rings.
* Fixed an issue preventing correct macro feedback for /castsequence macros with a single spell and a specified reset condition.
* Fixed an issue causing the ring contents column in the custom ring configuration panel to not be updated correctly when slices were deleted under some circumstances.
* Fixed an issue causing all battle pets to appear twice in the battle pet slice category in Patch 5.2.
* Fixed a graphical issue in the cooldown animation.
* Fixed an issue causing nested ring slices to overlap in some circumstances.
* Items on cooldown are no longer indicated as usable.
* Fixed an issue causing the "Show recharge numbers" option to be ignored (in favor of "Show cooldown numbers") when performing Spinning Crane Kick.
* Fixed an error that occurred when saving custom macros while playing a class that has a spell flyout ability.
* Fixed an issue preventing nested ring rotation from being saved.
* Corrected slice icon display for non-active /cast {{spell:id}}-like macros in the custom rings panel.
* Fixed an issue preventing OPie slash commands from opening correct configuration panels on first use in Patch 5.3.
* The "Make rings top-most" option is no longer disabled when "Activate on left click" option is unchecked.
* Fixed an issue preventing the overlay dialog used in the option panels from being cleared correctly in some circumstances.
* Fixed an issue causing option panel descriptions to be truncated incorrectly.
* Fixed incorrect ability out-of-range feedback for self-cast abilities and actions.

I can see how that would be a problem.

I'm loving this addon!

There's one small thing that would make it perfect for me: the ability to set a default action for a keybind, so that if you activate the keybind without moving the mouse, it would take that action instead of doing nothing like it does now.

In particular, I'm thinking this would be excellent for replacing most every spell on my bar that has any kind of options at all. Tap a keybind to heal my target, hold to be able to select healing target/focus/myself (by macros). Would make my life a lot simpler!

Thanks for all your hard work on this mod.

Great addon. Definitely is gonna clean up my UI.

Just a couple things:

*Being able to edit the default rings.

*Fixing what appears to be a bug where you can't delete a ring--it just stays there, even after relogging.

*Skinning the buttons.

*Locking the ring to somewhere else on the screen.

Otherwise, great work, loving the mod

A method of tapping/holding would be nice... perhaps an option where a tap will bring up the OPie menu and leave it onscreen until a choice is moused over to select it, or moused over and clicked on to select it?

Great mod, thanks for it.

I found a "problem": I am using standard UI for bars (for arena mainly :P ) and I found that opie makes my warrior's and druid's stance bar vanish (nothing happens to pala stance bar). I have keybinded my stances and thanks to the bar swapping I know in which stance I am (if I ever happen to forget it), so no big deal, but it would be nice to have them shown anyway.

If there's some config option that I missed, sorry for it, but could you tell me where it is?

Thanks for your time.

First I'd like to say, that this is one of my alltime favorite and useful addons. It is saving me a ton of Actionbar space.

I, like some of the other posters, would like some way to set a distance to the ring the mouse has to be to activate the spell/item I have done so many unintentional things its unbelievable, wont stop using the addon thou

Another thing, that probably isn't Opie related, but its in Opie I noticed it so here is where I'll post the question.
Is it blizzard that wont allow mousebuttons + shift/ctrl/alt keybinds? Would be awesome to have that for the rings.

Best Regards

Fantastic mod and you clearly have an eye for aesthetic, UI design. I see a bright future in gaming for you

I just have a few minor interfacing questions. Not sure if this is possible or not:

1. Is it possible to have an OPie ring activate off of a actionbar icon as well as a binding? My thought here is that while I may desire some bound directly to a key, I may wish to have mouse gestures more for say, a potions icon on my action bar.

2. Along those same lines, is it possible to have OPies reacting specifically to unitframes? Clique is a fantastic addon that allows me to bind multiple keys to actions based on unitframes, but OPie could really up the ante by allowing us to gesture off the unitframe. It would be awesome to gesture my HOTs and decurses.

Thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

And no, I don't want to have the ring centered around my mouse. That wouldn't solve the problem for me <grins>
That is exactly why I am not using this [really cool] addon.

having an interesting problem that has cropped up recently, with OPie.

i cannot seem to bind OPie actions using either button1 or button2, in any combinaton with shift/ctrl/alt (for instance, i used to use ctrl-rightclick for my trinkets, and that no longer works). OPie just ignores me when i try to do that.

in trying to isolate this problem, i have discovered that the vanilla game client will also not allow me to bind anything using the left or right mouse buttons. it just ignores me when i try to do that (via the key bindings screen).

this occurs even with all addons disabled, so i am guessing there is not some mod that is intercepting mouse events and is messing with them somehow.

mouselook and camera control with the mouse work fine. this is not affected by click-to-move settings.

so, what has happened? what obscure little option setting in the game client is breaking this? is there any way for me to use mouse buttons with OPie, or WoW in general?
----
edit: for now i am using mouse3/mouse4... as mapped from my kensington trackball to windows mouse events by the funky driver stack i have to run under vista for this make/model of mouse. WoW and OPie both correctly recognize mouse events involving those buttons (i.e. "Middle Mouse", etc).

recovering OPie use of buttons 1/2 (left/right-click) would be nice, however... assuming it is technically feasible.

Blown up again

I found all my custom rings gone again after a server down - this time, I did not alt+f4, and I definitely didn't edit them during the session when this happened. :/

Notes from 0.10

Here's a short list of features that are implemented in the next release:

Click-activated actions on rings
There are now two ways to interact with a ring, controllable via a per-ring option:
  1. Push binding to show a ring -> Position Mouse Pointer -> Release binding to activate action.
  2. Press binding to show or hide a ring -> Move Mouse -> Left-click to activate action.
Because it's a per-ring option, you may choose which rings you want to use which behavior; this enables you to save yourself from wasting consumables and still use the simpler option for rings that aren't critical.

"Only while I have this item" slices
Added a per-slice option to custom rings to hide the slice if you don't have the item it wants in your inventory.

There's a fix in for the bug that's preventing any ring from being deleted in 0.9, as well as an additional feature that keeps bundled rings from re-appearing after they have been deleted. Additionally, a copy of the saved variable table is now kept in the global namespace, so if WoW panics and decides to dump the saved variables to disk without firing the relevant events, you shouldn't be liable to lose rings previously saved to disk.
The current plan is to make hiding of the shapeshift/aura bar a configurable option before the next release, but that hasn't been done yet.

Comments on some of the suggestions raised in comments:

Binding to mouse buttons
OPie blocks left/right mouse button bindings (in its bindings UI) by design; this is intended and unlikely to change.
Modifiers should work in combination with any mouse button but the left and right: you may freely bind rings to, say, alt+Middle Button or ctrl+shift+alt+Mouse Button 5.

Activating rings using action bars
You could, but it's non-trivial (and wouldn't make sense in 0.9, as you can't "release" the action bar macro conditionally). It makes a bit more sense with the click-to-activate behavior in 0.10, but it'll still remain a bit of a hack: you need to find the internal ring name used by OPie, then construct a macro that looks like: /click ORTB__(Internal Ring Name) use 1 -- for example /click ORTB__OPieDruidShift use 1 or /click ORTB__CommonTrades use 1 or /click ORTB__OPieTrinkets use 1.

Default actions
are an interesting idea, but would probably rob you of the "safe" region to cancel the ring use in, and would require you to spawn rings at mouse. Seems too limiting

Skin ring actions with ButtonFacade

Hey there,
why don't you let us skin the action('buttons') with mods like ButtonFacade or CyCircled? Shouldn't be too hard to implement.

Since OPie creates virtual buttons instead of "real" ones you can't really skin them. More info if you read back a few posts.

Not if you have the option of [empty] for the central circle ?

Good GOD I love this addon! I was dubious as to whether it would be fast enough at first. As soon as I discovered that unlocking it from the center of the screen gave the effect of gestural actions though; I was sold. Absolutely sold! it works a treat.. and fast enough to cope with anythingso far.

The only thing missing (from the point of intuitive gestural action) in my eyes is the default center click per menu.. especially in the heat of combat.

That, and possibly shorter travel distance for the mouse (option). I work with gestural software all day long (Maya) and it feels a little "beginner" in that sense, but that's very probably just me.

Again, love, love love the addon! Thank you so much for sharing.
