Yatlas  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 0.8.3
by: Boo Diddly [More]

Yatlas was originally created by Endx, he's handed over control so I can contunue this great mod.

Yatlas provides a minimap-based map of the world (reasonably high detail).

There are two different modes:

Normal View

This view is somewhat similar to Atlas, and to move around right or left click and drag on the map itself. You can choose which contenent map at the top. Also, using the scroll mouse button changes the zoom.

To the right, the data tab contains points of interest and the options tab controls the visibility/position of the minimap button.

To open this view, either click on the minimap button, set a key binding in your Key Bindings menu, or use the /yatlas command.

Fullscreen View

This view is somewhat similar to the world map, and non-transparently covers the entire screen. For the most part it is similar to the normal view, such as movement being controlled by dragging the screen around and scroll mouse button changing the zoom.

To open this view, either set a key binding in your Key Bindings menu, or use the /bigyatlas command.

Quick Update

I've only put a few changes into this version, as a lot of things I'm working on for Yatlas are incomplete. Consider this to be an extremely mini update.

Hi.... I downloaded Yatlas... But i can't see the different mineral veins, as shown in the pictures... Why?
Yatlas retrieves the data from gatherer.

This reminds me, is there any support for party members on a to-do list?
Yes.

Do you know how to activate that function after downloding MapNotes BETA.??

Hi endx7,

I like this addon very much, but it's a pity that my german client I encounter some localisation problems. At the moment I'm using Version 0.6.2
The problems show up as follows:

1) Anytime I startup, it throws an error having problems in Yatlas.lua Line 530
2) On opening the map it often has problems showing me the correct location.

I had a look into your atlasdb.lua file and found quite a lot of english names of places around.
Is there any chance to do some localisation?

Maybe there are already lists of translated names for other addons, that make loacalisation easy?

Anyway, best whishes for continuing this gread addon.

Great mod End. Truely amazing. When I showed it to some friends we instantly compared it to google earth.

I can see this quickly getting wide spread use.

I have an idea for the far off zoom gitter however. I notice the mod constantly updates the points of interest while dragging. Have you considered not having it update the POI's until the mouse lets go of the map? I would think that would be a fair compromise and improve performance greatly.

I replaced the mimimap icon with this one I made myself ...

http://www.the-daedalus.net/temp/button.tga
You can see it side by side with Atlas clearly now.
You are welcome to it if you like it.

I also removed in your mod and in the original Atlas the HighlightTexture and PushedTexturebuttons.

<NormalTexture file="Interface\AddOns\Yatlas\images\Button"/>

I deleted from here...
<PushedTexture file="Interface\AddOns\Yatlas\images\Button-Down"/>
<HighlightTexture alphaMode="ADD" file="Interface\Minimap\UI-Minimap-ZoomButton-Highlight"/>
...to here.

I never liked them since most other minimap buttons do not do the same.

party/raid members is planned (actually it has been planned for a while...)

Edit: I've started work on it, because magically I am not lazy?

It would be nice if you could also show blips for party and raid members.

I actually had planned on going in the other direction...overlaying the world map over Yatlas, since the world map is made up more of lines than the minimap textures are. I'm not sure how well it'd turn out considering neither are really "meant" to be transparent. It'd be something I'd have to play around with.

As for my minimap icon...I know it is confusing, but unfortunately I haven't come up with anything better yet.

Oh, and I have a bugfix release planned (for tomarrow?), but unfortunately I haven't gotten around to packing it up for release yet.

It may be too complicated, but in relation to the map-overlay comment, I think that would be a great alternative idea for this. An alternate worldmap that can track the character like the worldmap, but stay focused optionally on the player's location like the minimap. It could use all-minimap imagery with worldmap tooltips and note-addon functionality.

However, before all that I'd simply settle for the ability to show the city interiors, instead of just the fully-outside areas (or the top of the mountain in the case of ironforge).

Looks great. Really like the Click-Drag Feature. Can't wait for new stuff.

Also would it be possible to change your minimap icon to look different than the one for Atlas .. kind confusing :P

The idea is great, but I think an overlay to worldmap would be much better.
