Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

I'm getting some kind of bug. I don't think an error is causing it, as I haven't seen on in my bugsack. But, starting today, when I enter a BG or wintergrasp, grid doesn't pick up the rest of the raid. It only has a bar for me. I have to reload my ui inside of the BG for it to pick everyone up.

Blizz RaidLeadFrame

Heyho!

I wonder if it possible to show the Blizzframe for the Raidlead (the one with the marks for the bosses, the buttons to throw a smokebomb to mark a place etc) when using Grid?

Would be awesome!

Grid does not, and most likely never will, include any options to hide/show/modify any parts of the Blizzard UI. If you cannot see the Blizzard raid manager panel, you have some other addon hiding it.

Smile .

Thank you for putting in so much time and effort to keep grid up to date with the new patch.

I just have one request if it isn't too much trouble.

I love using grid as my raid frame when I am dpsing on any toon.
however on my shaman or priest when i switch to heals I use healbot.

I used to just use a macro that was

/hb t
/grid standby

but the standby feature is no longer existent...

Anyways, if it isn't too much trouble to add that back in I would be eternally grateful...

thanks again man and keep up the great work

Re: .

You can accomplish the same thing, with less effort, by setting up a dual spec profile for your healing spec(s) and setting all of the layouts to "None". Then, any time you switch to your healing spec, Grid will automatically switch to a profile that doesn't show any frames.

That said, what feature(s) in Healbot do you need that Grid doesn't provide?

hmmm i really dont know how to set it up like you said to do..

ill mess around with it and figure it out like i do with any addon...

as far as why i use both, i started out healing with healbot im very comfortable with it for a healing addon.. plus i like just using different click combinations with it to cast my heals...

however, when im dpsing i like the way i set up grid with a very bold face so all the names and icons are real easy to see... because im not gonna pay that much attention to it other than for that

First, create the profile. It'll be easiest if you're in your DPS spec when you do this.
  • Grid > Profiles > New > Type "Hidden" and press Enter.
Then, switch back to your normal profile.
  • Grid > Profiles > Existing Profiles > Choose whichever profile you normally use. It's probably "Default".
Then, on each character you want to "hide" Grid for your second spec, log on, get into your DPS spec, and do this:
  • Grid > Profiles > Check "Enable dual profile"
  • Grid > Profiles > Dual profile > Select the "Hidden" profile you created in Step 1.
As for click-casting, have you tried Clique? It enables click-casting for Grid and all other unit frames, including the default Blizzard ones, and has a very easy-to-use interface for setting up click-cast bindings.

ok i made the second profile named "Hidden"..

i actually want it hidden when im healing. but just making a profile named hidden doesnt hide it... so that is what i dont know how to do lol...

and no i have not tried click, just because healbot has always worked fine for me, so i didnt see the point in fixing something that wasnt broken hehe

As mentioned in my first post, you need to set the layout for each group type to "None". So after you create the "Hidden" profile, go through each Grid > Layout > Solo/Party/10-Player/25-Player/Battleground/Arena Layout, and set each one to "None".

First, thank you for this amazing addon! It makes healing a dream and there is no replacement for me.

I have a question though, I'm noticing a different layout behavior than before the patch. When I have Grid show pets (on 10man) there's an empty row between the raid members and the pets, as such:

R R R R R
R R R R R
(empty)
P P

This empty row was not there previous to the patch. I need to get rid of this extra row for it to fit properly into my custom UI. I can't find an option in relation to it nor a plugin that might be doing it. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

No, it's just an issue with the current version. We'll be making another release soon, or you can grab the latest alpha version from the project page on wowace.com.

Does the Grid project accept donations? I see you don't have a Donate button, unlike a number of the other addon projects. I'd like to be able offer some small token of support beyond a written thank you.

Grid is one of a handful of addons that, as far as I'm concerned, has perfectly nailed its niche. Between the no-bloat core and the almost "if you can imagine it, you can have it" extendability, I've never found myself wistfully wishing I could disable something I don't need, or wanting for a feature I do. Frankly it does its job so well that I'm just not sure if I'd be willing to continue healing if I were ever forced to fallback on the alternatives that manage to do too much and too little all at once. Bottom-line: Grid's minimalist core + plugins for key-but-situational features approach is just a superior design to the all-in-one feature rigidity of the other raid frame addons.

Well, I guess this morphed into a note anyway, so-- thank you!

And for the plugin authors who make all the extra features available-- thank you too!
