Auditor  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 4.4.3
by: Alarisha [More]

PLEASE NOTE: Auditor is now made for LibDataBroker (LDB). A list of LDB Display Addons and other addons using LDB can be found here.

If you use FuBar, then just grab Broker2FuBar, and Auditor will merrily show up as it always has done for you, once you have enabled it in the Broker2FuBar options.

Author: Alarisha - alarisha [.at.] gmail [.dot.] com

Description:
Auditor is a nifty addon that tracks your incoming and outgoing money from a variety of sources, and provides an easy to use Data Broker interface to choose whose data you would like to look at, and for what time period. It is, essentially, MoneyFu for those who have obsessive information disorder. Like me. Yes, I *must* know how much I spent on training last week. Why? I dunno. But I must.

Features:
- LDB at last! Yes, your eyes don't deceive you. Probably.
- Money tracking, and lots of it.
- Data separated by realm.
- Character totals.
- Combined totals.
- Clickable tooltip to customise what you can and can't see.
- Ability to look at all your characters' specific data from any of your other characters on that realm.
- Accounts can be viewed per session, day, last seven days, or in their full, all-time glory.
- Cash notification options.
- Optional auto-repairs (per-character preference).
- Optional auto-sell for grey items (per-realm preference).
- Time offsets, so you can set Auditor to reset when dailies reset!
- Many things. Just get it and see!

What does Auditor track?
- Loot money! Whether you are solo, in a party or in a raid.
- Vendor money! Stuff you buy from or sell to vendors.
- Quest money! Money you gain from quests, and money you spend on quests (e.g. the Scholomance Key quest).
- Trade money! Doing enchants or transmutes? Yep, it catches money exchanged in trade.
- Mail money! Sending money to/from your alts or friends? Tracked.
- AH money! At last, both outgoing AND incoming Auction House money is tracked.
- Training money! How much did you spend on training and respecs? Do you care? Well, you'll know anyway.
- Flight money! Spent a day flying about Azeroth? See how much you should claim back on your tax expenses.
- Repairs money! See how much money you really spent on repairing your kit after those instances.
- Unknown money! Money gained/lost, but for whatever reason, Auditor can't work out where it's from. Better than nothing, anyway.
- Reconciliation money! That's money for when you just installed Auditor, and it has to account for the cash you have right now, or for when you crashed, or were logged on at a friend's house. It's all good.
- Guild Bank money! Money you deposit or withdraw from your Guild Bank. Exciting, I know.
- LFG reward money! Guild contributions money! Reforging money!

When does it track it for?
Auditor tracks your money on a per session, per day, per last-seven-days and all-time basis.

Version 3.2.1a
* Reuploaded for some people who are having issues with being unable to download the latest version for some reason!

Version 3.2.1
* Fixed stupid error caused by removal of certain globals in patch 2.4.2. Undocumented Blizz rando-changes ftw!

Version 3.2.0
* Finally fixed timezone issues, which was seriously complicated!
* New option: Time Offset - you can use this to make Auditor reset at a time other than midnight, local time. Useful for dailies etc.
* Reworked date storage system: A random side-effect of this is that if you play in a non-English locale, the month should bizarrely be localised for your language!
* Combined totals: You can now access this option by clicking on 'Total' at the bottom of the tooltip. It is a toggleable, per-realm option, and will override the 'Character to show...' option while active.
* PLEASE NOTE: Your seven day audit will be cleared out upon installing this update. Your Total audit will not be affected. Essentially, it will just appear like you haven't logged on for a week. No data is lost!

Version 3.1.0
* Added in optional use of guild bank for auto-repairs. This function also keeps a running total of the amount of guild money you have used so far for repairs, per toon, displayed in chat (like the Cash Notify stuff).
* Reworked Auto-Repair function to work properly with faction reductions. This does, however, mean that Auto-Sell Grey Items mods will screw up the categorisation of repairs. So...
* Added Auto-Sell Grey Items function. This is accessible in the options menu under Merchant Options --> Auto-Sell. If you want to use Auto-Repair and Auto-Sell mods with Auditor, feel free - but the functions now included in Auditor are the only ones 99% likely to work properly. It is defaulted to off, and is a per-realm option.
* Changed menu options and options storage layout. These will be clarified below:
Merchant Options --> Auto-Repair (per-character option), Guild Repair (per-character option) and Auto-Sell (per-realm option).
Cash Notify --> AH, Mailbox, Vendor, Trainer, Guild Bank (per-realm options)
And various other cleanups of tooltip options into better organised categories.
* P.S. Using other Auto-Repair and Auto-Sell mods is cool, like I said, nothing will break - but your Repair and Vendor categories will not maintain accuracy.
* .toc bump for 2.4.

Version 3.0.4
* Fixed some library issues for those running without FuBar.

Version 3.0.3
* Added option to allow display of Realm Total on FuBar, e.g. 101.7g/5342.6g.

Version 3.0.2
* Nil check added for when AuditorFu has been disabled, or hasn't finished loading.

Version 3.0.1
* Added in Guild Bank category.

Version 3.0.0
* Complete rewrite. Crossed fingers, everyone. Hehehehe.

I can only suggest that you try reinstalling it fresh and making sure all of the directories unpack properly - or loading WoW with just FuBar and AuditorFu ticked in your addons selection screen and see if it works then.

Unfortunately, without any error messages there is nothing I can do to help!
Actually, when I disabled FuBar, which was not working properly, AuditorFu started working and I am happyhappy with it.

Always lovely to hear comments like that!

Regarding the sig - I don't even have a sig! :P If you mean one of the banner thingies some peeps seem to have, they usually have the URL of the place where they come from somewhere on them.

Version 2.4.0

Version 2.4.0
- Updated .toc for the new patch.
- Added new Compact Mode for cashflow display - defaulted to ON, 'cos it's cool.
- Compact Mode will hide categories from the tooltip that contain no data, e.g. if you have not visited a vendor, so have neither gained nor lost money at a vendor, then the vendor line will be hidden.
- TO TURN IT OFF: Use the standard menu, and it is a new option called Compact Mode.
- Made various changes to the tooltip to make it more pretty!

Available as soon as it's approved by WoWi. Enjoy!

I couldn't agree more. I can't live without AuditorFu. But I can't understand why it's not on the wowace list? It is very much easier to update addons with the WowAceUpdater! Please consider adding to this. I believe it's just an SVN repository...

Thanks!

Thanks for your kind words about AuditorFu

Now, onto the neverending question of why I won't put AuditorFu up on the WowAce SVN: basically, I just don't see the point. SVNs are not designed to be places where you go to download stuff. This is what an SVN is:

'It's a system that allows multiple programmers to work together on the same code. They can be anywhere in the world and stay up to date with each other's changes. It also lets anyone browse the history of the files, seeing what changed and who changed it. Old versions can be pulled up easily, side projects (branches) can work in parallel with the main project (trunk) without breaking each other. When the branch is complete it can be merged back into the trunk with ease.'

I don't see how, other than from a laziness point of view for the users of my mod, adding it to the SVN would be good. I rarely update Auditor anymore, because it is stable and does pretty much everything that I designed it to do. I only ever update if a patch breaks something, or if someone comes up with a fantastic feature idea - SVNs are for lots of people to work together on the same code, and AuditorFu, as a project, has no need for that.

Also, it is much easier for me as the author to check just two places, WoWi and ui.worldofwar, for any bugs or feature suggestions than it is for me to browse the WowAce forums looking for threads that mention my mod. So, from my point of view, having it here and only releasing stable versions with decent and easy to see changelogs is far better.

It isn't hard to just add AuditorFu to your favourites on here, and then you will be notified whenever I update it. Plus, on a more personal note, I always get excited when I get an email saying that one of my favourite mods has just been updated - where's the excitement in daily updates from the WowAce SVN, where you update tons of your mods at the same time and have no idea if any new features were added? No fun.

So anyway - not planning to put it on WowAce! lol

Unhappy "Lazy" User responds...

Well... I have been using your mod pretty much since it came out and loved it but more and more I have started to tend to use mods only from the WoWAce site due to the ease of use the WowAceUpdater tool provides in keeping all my mods in sync in seconds. I can run the tool right before I am going to play and ensure that I have all the latest updates/bug fixes.

If this make me a "Lazy" User as you so nicely put it then I guess thats what I am. Of course later in your own statement you refer to how not using the WowAce site makes your life easier... what does that make you? Lazy and rude.

I for one being lazy like I am won't be using your mod anymore and would suggest to any other users looking for a mod that does the exact samething just to use FuBar_MoneyFu. It doesn't everything Auditor does and it is easily updated via the Ace tool for those of you "Lazy" folks like me.

Goodbye and good riddance...

Ok, that's cool. You can use WowAceUpdater to do that. However, bear in mind that the vast majority of the 'updates' that you get are just small updates to the libraries included with the addons, and for all but the newest addons, that is all that is being updated most of the time. The vast majority of the addons themselves are not updated daily or even weekly/monthly, unless bugs are found.

I didn't say any users were lazy. I said that if you are unable to find the will within you to add Auditor as a favourite and read your email, then that is lazy. It is! Also, I find you drawing a comparison between having to read your email (what you as a user would need to do) and me checking any bug reports, adding features, or doing any kind of user support to be laughable. If you consider having to download something that is updated usually less than once per month as equivalent to the work that an author puts in to make an addon, then you are very much mistaken.

I'm not paid to make this addon. Making demands of people who do work exclusively for your benefit is not cool. Threatening to tell other people not to use my mod, because you consider it such an effort to update, is also not cool. But, it makes no difference to me. I am not paid. I get nothing for making this mod. If a billion people use it and enjoy it, I'm happy. If only one other person uses it and enjoys it, I'm happy. If one ungrateful twat stops using it because of his or her own inflated ego, that means nothing to me.

Goodbye and good riddance to you. All you have caused me is anger and upset. All I ever did for you was provide you with a tool that you enjoyed using for months, for free. Go figure.

PS This is a calmer version of the reply I made earlier, in case anyone is wondering what happened to that. Hehe.

I love your mod, and have been using it for a long time now myself.

I think a simple "sod off" would have been the simpliest of responses to someone so rude as to rip on your mod or update methods, simply because it does not "conform" to their demands. There are plenty of other mods out there for your lame ass to use, so go use them and stop wasting everyone's time hitting the reply button.

Actually, I think the fact that he will be an advocate for Fubar_MoneyFu is more of an insult to phyber (the author of MoneyFu) than you Alarisha... after all, I wouldn't want an asshat promoting my works! LOL!

Don't be bothered by the minority of loudmouths. Be happy in knowing that the extreme silent majority of users love your addon.

Question Today's Audit

How can I change the time that Auditor uses to call it a day? Currently, it resets the day at 5pm EST (which is 8pm on my server). How can I change it to more closely match my play day?

This is an ongoing weirdness. It should always reset at midnight, but you aren't the first to report that it doesn't. I will have to look into this again (I thought it had fixed itself as the bug reporter stopped replying :P). If I can't work out why it is doing it, I could probably add a manually set 'time offset' type thing. I'll let you know later today, I imagine, or maybe tomorrow - got an exam in a couple of hours. But it's my last one for this year of Uni, so I'll be all yours soon!

One thing not needed around here is lazy bitchs who use other peoples addons then come back and whine about how they need to be just this little bit easier to get as they cant be arsed to click a link to download it.

Anyway thanks for leaving WoWi, you will not be missed.

Sorry if this sounds a bit harsh but ungrateful gits p*ss me off and i aint had my coffee yet....

An apology and explanation...

First off let me apologize to Alarisha for what I wrote. I too should have taken time to cool down before posting...

My post was not meant to complain that Alarisha would not post her mod on WoWAce... If she does or doesn’t is her prerogative and does not overly effect me in either way so I was not concerned either way. I have many other Ace and non Ace mods on my favorites list here that I regularly update manually. I in fact was not even the one who originally asked for Alarish to post her mod on WowAce. My problem was the response to that original poster's request.

If Alarish didn't want to post it there then as far as I am concerned all she had to say was that they she preferred not to and that would have been good enough for me. No other explanation was necessary because as the she said mod authors are not paid and they do all this work for free simply to benefit the users which I truly do appreciate. I am constantly praising and thanking mod authors for their work. My issue as I said was with the response from Alarisha to the author to the original request which was:

"I don't see how, other than from a laziness point of view for the users of my mod, adding it to the SVN would be good. "

In fact, I would have had absolutely no problem with the entire response to that original post if she had simply left this line out. But just as Alarisha expects respect for her work I feel that the users deserve that same respect just out of common courtesy. No one deserves to be called lazy or anything else simply because they do something differently.

So again, I apologize to Alarisha for my post. I should have just taken the high road and just ignored your quip as that of a person who has answered this question many times before and was a bit frustrated. And to everyone else that my post upset I apologize to you as well.

I know that some will not forgive me and for that too I am truly sorry so in order to not continue to fuel the fires of hatred I won’t post here on this mod again but it is still on my favorites list and I will still enjoy using it.

<bows out>
