Grid  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 8.0.1.1
by: Phanx [More]

Grid has been continued as Plexus by Doadin. Use that instead; Grid has not been updated since 2018 and will not be updated in the future.

Grid is a compact and highly configurable party/raid unit frame addon.
The compact grid of unit frames lets you select a group member quickly, while keeping a good overview of the whole group. It shows as much information as possible without overloading you. It allows you to customize what information you see, and how you see it. It works in both party and raid groups, and supports pets and vehicles.

Want more features? The Grid core tries to include only features which are generally useful for all classes and roles, but makes it easy to add new features with a simple plugin API for developers. Over 75 third-party plugins are already available!

Type “/grid” for options, or right-click the minimap button, DataBroker launcher, or Grid frame tab.

Language Support
Grid is compatible with all World of Warcraft localizations. It is currently translated into English, Deutsch, Español, Français, Italiano, Português, Русский, 한국어, 简体中文, and 繁體中文.

To add or update translations for any language, enter them on the WowAce project page. New and updated translations will be automatically included in the next version of Grid!

HINT: The WowAce interface for adding translations is quite cumbersome. To make the process easier, you can use the Export function on WowAce, copy the exported data into your text editor, fill in your translations, and then paste them back into WowAce using the Import function.
Credits
Grid was originally conceived and written by Maia and Pastamancer in late 2006. Phanx has been the primary developer since late 2009. Jerry wrote the original pet support code. Mikk designed the icon. jlam added some advanced options for auras. Greltok has helped a lot with bugfixing. Finally, lots of people have contributed translations!

The major issue I have with Grid is the inability to configure it to show buff icons versus "green/yellow/red" dots upon the corners of the frames. (Sacred Shield, Beacon of Light, etc.) I loathe using other mods to visually track my healing in a raid, especially during heroic-mode encounters, however I need to be able to see an icon and possibly even a timer for when mentioned buffs like this are about to expire.

Do you happen to be aware of any modules that might support these kind of features for Grid?

Yes; use the Group Anchor setting under Layout > Advanced.

Most likely, you do not have the Incoming Heals status assigned to any indicator(s). By default, it is shown on the Healing Bar indicator:

Grid > Frame > Healing Bar > check "Incoming Heals"

HI, for some reason Grid stopped showing "incoming heals" any suggestion ? Am I the only one having this problem?

I see all the normal options of "incoming heals":
- in any Frame I see "Incoming Haals" on the list of statuses
- i also see grid -> status -> incoming heals (and is enabled)

Any suggesiton would be great
Thx in advance ~

EDIT:
Found a workaround: I simply created and reseted a new profile, im now reconfiguring all the options again.

Sorry if this has been covered before, but is there a way to configure Grid so it shows the icon for a buff that's MISSING from a raid member? Like, can I make it so the Power Word: Fortitude icon comes up on a frame if a raid member does NOT have the buff?

This would make things rather easy for buffing, so please let me know if it's possible and how I would go about setting it up this way. Thanks!

Simular to Pitbull where u can simulate being in a raid/party etc? If not.... whats the best way to set it up other then que'ing for BG's over n over to configure it?

Without seeing your settings, I have no idea what the problem might be. Upload your Grid saved variables file somewhere and PM me the URL, or just wipe your settings and reconfigure the addon from scratch.

OK, this is probably a stupid question, but I have somehow messed up my Grid settings and am at a loss to fix it. The health bar seems oddly disproportional to the actual amount of health that a character has lost: for example, a health bar will appear completely empty when a character is at 30% life, or half empty when they are at 75%. Since I play a healer, it's a very confusing problem to have.

Does anyone have any idea what settings I might need to change to fix this? Thanks very much!

Hi there,

I changed my WoW with the language pack from German to English, but now Grid is not working any more. As I'm using an interface package and don't wanna lose all the layout settings I really don't wanna delete the config lua in SavedVariables (if this could be a solution though).
Do you maybe have any idea how to get Grid running again?

//Ok sorry, my fault, ignore that post.

Grid doesn't individually assign unit IDs (eg. "raid1") to frames. The Blizzard secure group header system does that; Grid can only set the attributes on each header to control which units populate the header (eg. "groups 1-5" or "classes druid, priest, paladin, shaman" or "maintanks") and in what order they are shown (eg "alphabetical by name" or "by raid ID" or "druids, then paladins, then shamans, then priests").

There is no way to use that system to generate a header containing 25 frames for the same unit ("player"). Going that route for configuration would actually be more work than just creating insecure dummy frames, because it would also require rewriting all of the anchoring code to support 25 separate headers, each with a single unit.

In general, if adding a configuration mode to Grid were as simple as the suggestions you guys keep offering, it would have been done years ago. I'm not refusing to do it because I think it's a bad idea, or because I want to spite you guys who keep asking for it, and I don't believe Pastamancer felt that way either. The fact of the matter is that adding a configuration mode to Grid would require essentially rewriting the entire addon, as the way the addon is written now simply cannot support that functionality.

Just as a passing idea regarding the "set-up frames": would it be simple to have a function that would swap the other 39 frames(excluding the player) to register as being the player instead of raid members? So in effect, every frame is the Player. Place that into a simple boolean menu function and it'd just be an on/off set-up frame setting. This would just help with positioning if it were to work.

Short:
Instead of "raid1" etc. have the frames all register "player" to give you 10,25,40 blocks to play with for positioning.

If not, i'll take my limited lua knowledge and go packing. Cheers for the addon.

The "extra" space is there to accomodate the border of each unit frame. If the frames were flush up against each other "at rest" then when a status on the frame border was activated, they would overlap.
