I am no longer developing or maintaining World of Warcraft addons. I haven't played in years, and don't have the time or interest to continue working on addons for a game I don't play anymore. If you are an addon author interested in continuing one of my addons, please see https://phanx.net/addons/. If you are an addon user, sorry, but there won't be any more fixes or updates from me.

Blocks guild solicitations in whispers and public chat channels.

Messages that look like guild recruitment spam are blocked from General, Trade, and whispers. There are no notifications to you or the sender, no dependencies on other addons, and no options to fiddle with. It just works.

It will automatically disable itself while you are unguilded and have disabled the "Decline guild invitations" option in the default UI, since presumably this means you are interested in guild invitations.

Localization

NoGuild currently only detects guild spam in English and German, but I am open to expanding it to cover other languages as well. If you play on a server where guild spam in other languages is common, and are interested in helping, send me a PM.

Post a comment on this page. If you are reporting a bug, please first make sure you have the latest version from this page, and then include detailed instructions I can follow to reproduce the bug myself, whether the bug still happens when all other addons are disabled, and the exact text of the accompanying error message (if any).

If you are posting about missed guild spam (or wrongly blocked legitimate messages), please post the full text (or a screenshot) of the message in question. You can find a log of recently blocked messages in the NoGuild.lua file in your account-wide SavedVariables folder, in case you think it's blocking messages it shouldn't.

For general discussion, feel free to use the forum thread instead of the comments page.

I dare say this list won't work 100% on my server, but that would be an easy fix. Anyway, it seems very tempting to expand this to include spambots and people selling CM/ PVP boosts and I hope you'll consider that in a future version. Probably 30 minutes up front, plus a few tweaks here and there over the next few days whenever I saw something get through, or a false positive. I haven't had to change anything in quite a while for my US servers, but I'd imagine other regions have more varied spamming styles, so samples are welcome. I'd be happy to include Scandinavian keywords if you want to put some together. The comments in the code should be pretty self-explanatory... basically I need one list for words that are found in most spam but rarely in other messages, a second list for words that are often found in spam but also sometimes in other messages, and a third list for words that rarely appear in spam but often appear in other messages that could otherwise appear spam-like (mostly LFG stuff). I don't plan to expand this addon to block "real spam" but I have already written another addon to do that (plus block off-topic chatter in Trade chat) and will likely be releasing it soon.
