Gun Silencer/Suppressor  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v1.0
by: Talizman [More]

There are a few Gun Silencer mods that replace Blizzard's ear deafening default gun sounds, and most of the ones I have found weren't very high quality. So I decided to make my own, with HI-DEF silencer recordings.

Included in this mod is the following:

- 1 Silenced Gun Shot (M4A1 Carbine)

- 3 Unique Reload Sounds

Installation is simple; Extract the .ZIP and copy the extracted files into your World of Warcraft's "DATA" Folder. For example;

\World of Warcraft\Data\

This mod is client side only, and DOES NOT alter any of Blizzard's sound files. It simply overrides the default sounds and plays the mod's sound files instead.

This mod works for guns only, and can be used for other classes as well, as long as you are able to use a gun.

Enjoy.

Not working on my Mac

And I would love for this to work for me.

Sound files play great through VLC player.

Quit game and install the unzipped files in World of Warcraft/Data - keeping the directory structure of Sound/Item/Weapons - game uses default sounds on start-up

Quit game and move files to World of Warcraft/Data/enUS - game uses default sounds on start-up

I'm sorry to hear it's not working. =[

I haven't had a chance to test this with macs. But as far as PC's this mod is working 100%. If any of you mac users are able to get the mod working correctly please let me know. Thanks!

My ears thank you

I've got to be honest, I actually use weapons other than guns just because of the noise factor, even when the gun is superior to the bow, just because the sound of it drives me up the wall.

Just on a random note, does it bother anyone else that the barrels of just about every gun in WoW look like the mouth of a trumpet? Or is it just me? With those barrels, I doubt one would be able to hit the broadside of a VW bus at 25 feet.

A thought

Is there any way this can be used to "silence" the hunter next to you?

It "silences" the gun of each and every hunter you come across that as well uses a gun; including yours of course. So if you're next to a Hunter using a gun, his will sound just like yours.

Other noises

Just played first session with this mod. My ears thank you

Can I ask, how/where did you find the file names?
I was thinking I might play around with some of the other sound effects that the hunter makes, you know those special shots.

On a Mac you simply unzip and put the folder in the main WoW folder, being /Applications/World of Warcraft/

It works fine for me (I'm still on 10.4 though). And I have to say, this is one of the more pleasing addons I've ever tried. I used to play a hunter who was an engineer, so I pretty much used guns exclusively. SOOOOO much nicer now.

Thanks!

I and my wife thank you very much! I've been using a gun for months, and the noise isn't very pleasing to me. My wife has NEVER used a gun because of the noise, and now she's gotten her skill all the way up because of this!
I just wish there was an easier way to install it like a standard addon...

Hmm.. It's working for me.

I just extracted the zip to my WoW directory so the sound files themselves are in /Applications/World of Warcraft/Sound/Item/Weapons/Gun/

I'll have to try placing the Sound directory in the top-level directory, instead of in the Data directory - as I did the first time I tried installing this.

great add on

I like this add on. The sound is easier to handle.

I do see that you have 3 different type of reload sounds. How do you change the reload sound?

Thanks.
