Perl Classic Unit Frames  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.05
by: Global [More]

If you like this mod, please vote for it!

What is Perl Classic?
Perl Classic Unit Frames are a complete rewrite of the original mods by Perl. They replace the default Player, Pet, Target, Target of Target, Party, and Party Pet frames and add dedicated frames for many other units (Focus, Focus Target, Party Target, Target of Target of Target). It has been a high priority to maintain the look and feel or the original Perl mods while expanding functionality. The mod has been recoded for performance and is built around the Blizzard UI usage of events.

Q&A
-----

Q: I'm seeing double party buffs for some reason, what gives?
A: 99% of the time this is caused by CT_PartyBuffs. Simply remove the mod and you will return to having one set of party buffs.

Q: I am having massive dead spots for clicking on some of the unit frames, what's wrong?
A: This can be caused by a number of mods, but the most common seems to be CT_MovableParty. Please remove this mod as Perl can be moved without the use of this mod.

Q: The default party frames are showing up with red lightning bolts. What's going on?
A: As of version 1.503 of CT_RaidAssist this should no longer be caused by CTRA. The settings for this are now located in the WoW settings under Interface Options -> Basic -> Raid -> Hide Party Interface.

Q: Do you support ArcaneBar?
A: Yes, it is included in your download of Perl Classic.

Q: Will you be adding any features to Perl_PlayerBuff?
A: No, my coding for this mod goes as far as making sure it 'works.' If anyone would like to expand upon it, feel free to do so.

Q: Where are the raid frames?
A: As of 2.0 I no longer code raid frames for Perl Classic. Luckily, X-Perl's raid frames work great alongside Perl Classic. X-Perl's raid frames (and the unit frames themselves) can be found here: http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/3416/

Q: The scaling is all messed up! What do i do?
A: I recommend setting the scale to that of the UI if you are having issues. Open the options menu via "/perl" or the Black Pearl icon on the minimap and set the scale accordingly under the "All" tab.

Q: I am having an issue not listed in this FAQ, what can I do?
A: First, update *every* mod. I do not support ancient outdated and unmaintained mods. If you have double checked that everything is up to date, post on any of the Perl Classic mod pages and I'll be glad to help you narrow down the issue or give suggestions to help find a solution.

Q: Can you add this feature?
A: I'm sure it's possible, but the primary purpose of this mod is to 'modernize' the original Perl mod so that it doesn't slow your game down.

After just upgrading to 0.81 i noticed some errors spilling into my chat log... didn't take long to figure out it was an event related to the gain\lose of buffs but i have do idea if it's perl or possibly a issue with other mods i'll try to test more... but i'll be using .80 for raiding till i or you can figure this out

i'm using perl arcane and raid addons and a handful of others mod if you think it's an issue with other mods i can post a full list
These error messages are caused by old and broken zone load time enhancing mods. Confirmed offenders are ntmysFixLoadingTimes and Whitetooth zoning time fix. These mods are registering *extra* events to mods, including Perl Classic. Please disable *any and all* zone time enhancing mods. If you must use one, Catalyst does not break any mods and can be located here: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...fo.php?id=4827

Perl_ColorChange

I really love your uf. I've been using it for a while and slowly with the addons such as party target (it was really what I was looking for) I've grown to love it even more.

I did run across ColorChange and I know it's a thirdparty addon but I can't seem to get it to work in the GUI menu. I've tried an assortment of stuff but it always ends up saying, "not installed".

I'm also wondering if you're working on your own colorchange too?

Oh, I looked in the gui also but I'm not sure if partybuff can be made into 2 rows?

Thanks for the info and an amazing mod work keeping the perl frame style and making it fast, simple and clean.

After getting rid of Whitetooth zoning time fix perl .81a is running solid

I'll check out the menu not showing up. Last time I tried it though it worked fine. Right now I don't have any plans to make a color frame set of options. As for 2 rows of buffs on the party frame, that's not possible right now, but I also haven't ever thought of making it happen (there's a few more options I'd need to make for it and I like how it is right now).

Perl Bar

I know the circled bar has something to do with the targets target but right now that option is disabled but I still get the circled bar. What is it?

When I try and right click on the target frame to duel them I get an error saying that is restricted to a blizzard function or something like that. Then it auto loads the blizzard target frame.

I use clique in conjunction with perl and noticed that the player name frame also uses the clickcast functionality. I really liked having a small portion on the overall unit frame that I could click freely and your mod was the only one that had it. Will there be an option in the future to make player name frame behave normally?

Is there anywhere to get the party pets component (2.x version) currently? Curse is unavailable and I've been unable to find any mirrors.

@Stixum: Known bug. This is a problem on Blizzard's end and will hopefully be fixed next patch.

@skelter: If I can figure out a way to make that frame not clickable then I'd gladly readd it, but the way the click casting system works right now makes it pretty difficult to do so unfortunately.

@Roane: I still have to convert it over to 2.0. I haven't had time lately due to school and other RL things.

@skelter:

Open the Options tab in Cliique and uncheck the Name part of the frames

examples:

http://home.comcast.net/~shiayra/Clique2.jpg

If you have a warlock or hunter you would also want to uncheck the Perl_Player_Pet_NameFrame pictured in the first screenshot

the URL for the ArcaneBar does not work, it just links to the PerlClassic Unit Frames (everytime I install this packet, still don't get an ArcaneBar).
